Hello everyone,
to continue the discussion I would like to share with you my small article about addiction. I'm glad to any feedback
To what are you addicted?
We are told what we should do since our childhood. Don’t watch movies for the whole night – you will be addicted to TV! Don’t eat it too much, you can be anorexic or bulimic. Now we are all scared to be addicted. For example, I really enjoy baseball – but I am told to play less because my friends are feared I can have only baseball instead of usual necessary things in life. I love chocolate, but I can’t eat it even in bits – what if I have addiction and then I am not able to stop!? When you open any psychology site, you often see: «Your addiction destroys you! » and below: new article about regular thing, that one day will kill us. We can’t be as free as we used to be.
Wise men said: expand your perspective, don’t allow to manipulate yourself, keep your mind safe! The point is here: we are not scared of the consequences of beloved passions, we are scared just to be addicted! We are told we can be out and we somehow caught it! But the devil is not so black as he is painted, do you agree with that?
Popular psychology article says: everyone has an addiction nowadays. But then…So what? We all need oxygen to breathe – and this is not a huge problem, we need it to be alive! Also, lots of people don’t perceive or imagine their life without being with friends. Are they addicted? Or just need friends to be happy with?
Let’s face the subject: if addiction doesn’t destroy you, doesn’t make you feel bad, it is not even an addiction. It is just your fear, that was planted in your mind by people who tried to overcontrol you.
Now if you do what you enjoy to do, why should you be stopping?
When you try to analyze yourself whether you have an addiction, it’s instantly coming to you. If you have propensity to something, it does not mean that you are an addict.
You should stick to what you love! Remember, you are independent! Those who condemn you - they are in turn dependent on other people's opinions, on the stupid fears, on outdated beliefs!
I think if we all start looking wider to see better and accept ourselves in our special way of living, our life will be painted with all the bright colors we can possibly imagine!
Just take it: you are not addicted whether you are not feared to be addicted.
