I have seen some miraculous wins in the last week, all against me.

Paid to 7th place,This is with 12 left, he might have not cashed had he lost. Amazing call.

I cashed out from pokerstars last week, then the bad beats started rolling in.

Believe it or not when I saw what he called with I knew I was toast.

Makes me wonder.

Well , in your situation there - he were slighty lucky - but his call is not so bad ; preflop , his chances of winning against your A8 with his 32 are around 30% (35.81% exactly.)

Assuming BB folds (well , it would be an EXTREMELY bad move there not to call , but it's what happened there) , he's risking 847 to win an extra 2347 - around 3 to 1 odds , over a long period of time , that will be an positice move , making him earning chips AND knockouting one player of the tournament, increasing his odds to win/cash-in.

That may seem unfair - but he made the right decision (and losing a hand where you had 65% chances to win is NOT a badbeat , just not lucky there.)

It is not the middle of the tourney, its money time.

If you think calling an all in, with almost guaranteed money, to try to bubble with a 2, 3 SOOTED, is an OK move I am glad I play my way.

He might have bubbled or just plain lost after an hour or so of playing well, and calling with a trey and a duece

I have never, ever considered calling in such a situation with cards that bad.

I would love to play you some heads up poker.

Thanks

Amazing no hearts here

I won so not complaining but miracle hands do happen

I have watched so many in the past few weeks. You should see one every 1000 or so hands

Mathematicians, any odds.

Have you ever watched Gus Hansen play? That was not a bad call by him IMO, he had a lot of outs.

he's risking 847 to win an extra 2347 - around 3 to 1 odds , over a long period of time , that will be an positice move , making him earning chips AND knockouting one player of the tournament, increasing his odds to win/cash-in.

I agree with this.

Is it a good move at the end of a tourney?

He had as many outs as I had, but he needed to hit one and was close to losing all his hard work on a whim?

Am I wrong on that?

So why take an " Oh, looks like a good time to go all in on the worst possible hand" mentality.

You can argue this point into the ground but anyone that plays regular would NOT push with this hand so close to cashing in.

I will take your advice, and the next time I get close to "NOT LOSING MY MONEY" I will push an all in with the first small cards I get and hope the turn and river are miracles.

Now I know why the poker section doesn't get many posters here.

I am sorry and I apologize if I sound rude.

Please feel free to PM me if you would like to play on pokerstars.

I look forward to the oppourtunity to learn.

OK I did it

Big slick against 23 suited. amazing.

Not saying I would recommend it at the end of the tourney, but worked here with not much to lose.

With the first hand you spoke of, you were on the button with only a $50.00 ante invested. If you fold preflop in that situation you get to see 3 more deals for only 150 chips before your big blind. I don't risk my tourney yet in that situation especially that close to a pay seat with A8, even suited. I'm guessing you were trying to steal the blinds and the antes, and got caught. Would you have felt better if he called with a pair of deuces? They would of held up also.

I understand how you feel since it was only a 2-3, but at this point you should of had a read on that player of his style. In addition, since you went all-in at your position with all folds behind you, based on your short stack he put you on one good one and a steal. With his stack and pot odds to call, his thoughts of any two cards could win, turned out to be a good call.

Had he lost he still had enough chips to recover.

I agree. I was hoping for a fold and got caught.

I would have felt better with an A 9 but its still caught.

Thanks 4ofaKind

Thats exactly how it was Down to the feeling and logic.
