Players dropping off?

I'm curious how much casinos get dinged in the summers. People have holidays, are out and about enjoying the weather. But do the casinos get hit hard, or barely negligible as the real players will still dep when the sun goes down?
Don't know if any reps will chime in, just curious if they take a beating.
Conversely, guessing winter's gravy time as noone wants to leave the house

They would in some way, but you have to remember the seasons are not the same all over the world. Here in Aus its winter and where I am from its damn cold atm and when not working I am spending more time playing in front of the fire than I ever have.

Going from an affiliate side though last month, this month and the next 2 are usually the slowest months.

FWIW PABs usually drop off 30-40% during summer and Christmas holidays. However there's usually a post-holiday surge that makes up the difference. ;)

The summer months are traditionally slower months for operators. More people are spending time outside or going on vacation. Here at Casinomeister, it's not too noticeable but the traffic dips a little in August.

A lot of places will take a caning this Summer in particular, as it's a wasteland when it comes to major sporting events.
That means no cross sell and no specific imperative to visit the sites.
Even Britain seems to be having a Summer this year so I expect the drop will be noticeable for many casinos (Scandinavians of course strip down to their speedos and run outside to sunbathe as soon as the temperature rises to anything above zero).

I tend to view this in a positive way. People should enjoy life whether it be sunny days or a festive season. Casinos who are in for the long haul would welcome it too otherwise they just kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. Gamblers who are addicted soon lose everything and lose interest in making a living. In the end they have no money left fdor entertainment and the casinos lose out. Having a good balance of life will enable prayers to keep up the revenue for casinos.

This is true Andy, i went for my first swim outside in april, and it was about 12 degrees celsius ,and i dont swim when its cold.:)
But the speedo part isnt true, only the Finns still use speedos :D

During the summer months, I tend to enjoy getting out more often myself. I really don't like spending hours in front of the computer, when there's a pool, lake, or even a trail to be hiked.
Even though being a US player, my deposits have dropped significantly anyways mainly because of the hoops to jump thru to deposit. Then the same hoops to jump thru to withdrawal. So I've limited my depositing activity greatly, if I even deposit in a given month.
Otherwise my money is being much better spent on a small vacation I just got done taking, even got a new lap top, and did some repairs to my car.
Plus I'll be switching job titles here shortly, so I can see myself being busy adjusting to my new job.

I guess this means more bonus offers from operators if the summer months are a bit slow - anyone noticed this in previous years?

Summer or wainter, I pretty much play the same I've a finite weekly amount to spend, and tend to play nights anyway. I work from home, so seasons dont much impact me
As for more or less bonuses - if I get them great, but I'm with straight up deps

Stoney,

My answer to your question is a resounding no. Matter of fact, one particular casino group I can play at has cut their bonus offers down to almost nothing.

You would think that casinos would offer better bonuses/perks during the off season but that's not the way it happens.

Casinos have probably come to accept that genuine players do other things when it's summer, and probably also realise that if they upped the bonuses, it would be advantage players, not their regulars, that are prepared to sacrifice summer activities for a gamble.

I have also noticed quite a push in marketing the "mobile" side of the business, and this is where they might hold on to more players when they are enjoying their holidays.

It's easier to "check your phone" surreptitiously when you are supposed to be "spending the day/week with the family" than it is to go into another room to fire up the "gambling machine".

The summer months do offer distractions and commitments that are begrudgingly obtained to move you away from your “research” on the internet and into a world of sunlight, sights and sounds you almost forgot.

Mobile technology is fast becoming as powerful as the main computers we use. Coupled with increasingly fast internet connections and wider service coverage you can’t fail to see the potential for Casinos to tap into a market ripe for the picking

Always on connections, extreme portability, play almost anyway scenarios e.g. in a comfy chair, a sun lounger, in the car when there’s the holiday traffic jams, and even in bed. It seems like that a natural progression from the limits of B&M with the opening times and travel, to the boot up, the log in and finding a power point and wireless access point with a laptop.

It is increasingly apparent the social media networks are going big time with mobile and social media does not take time off in the summer. I am aware of a new trend with casinos whereby you can play the games (it is important to note they are just games) free on a phone with which they offer paid upgrades to gain points and achievements to share across your social network.

Yes they are classed as games and not gambling, but one may question these applications as “gateways” but this would be for another thread.
