Earth, man!
Well today it has finally happened. I have had casino spam sent directly to my mobile via text message

SMFD www.777mobile.com :axeman2: WHO THE FUK ARE U AGAIN??? Sent from 89994 in the UK.

What can be done about this?? You have to provide a phone number for most casino poker accounts now??

I wouldnt risk texting back anything to these numbers not even stop!! I now just pray my text inbox doesn't turn into another email spam box.

This really is a sad day :machinegu

I got one today too for www***thephonecasino***com

Logged on and, imho, it doesn't look awfully reputable! I could be wrong of course.

I think the problem is that a lot of text marketing/ringtone type people are edging into the mobile gaming market, as opposed to established casino's using this route to market (Which would make a lot more sense/more trustworthy). They need to realise that people won't *regularly* gamble and patronise an outfit in the same way they may randomnly order a ringtone for example. They need to be appealing to a different, and potentially much more lucrative and long term audience.

This is an area I'm professionally and personally very interested in, and something I feel, with the right approach - could be an extremely valuable route to market for some of the more established online brands.

I second that one. Being a nosey parker I took a look too.

From the source code it looks like a holdingpage (under construction) of sorts. Though seeing it was done with Front Page makes me hold further doubt to its rep. When also seeing that the placeholding image is a massive 272 KB (279,038 bytes), another reason that the word amateur springs to mind.

Had a few of these myself, bloody annoying. There should be a way the mobile operators can block all texts being sent from non-normal numbers on request so that only texts from proper 11 digit mobile numbers are allowed to come through.

And once I was charged 1.50 8 times for texts from one of these numbers which took bloody ages to sort out with T-Mobile.

Last time I checked, it was illegal for companies to spam via cell calls & text messages...I hope you reported them to your carrier ;)

Or better yet, have it setup like yahoo messenger or others...if they're not on your buddy list they can't send you any messages :)
