Just a final note from Sarahhoy. After the discraceful and cowardly attack on Mavin over the past week my husband Davey and I are leaving this forum.

Many of the posts including the racetrack fellow were discraceful and should have been removed and action taken against them.

Casinomaister would you please close Daveys and my account, and destroy any personal details. Davey can't do it himself as he was so angry he wiped this site off his computer!

Finally thanks to all the great people on the forum particlarly those who sent messages when our daughter was ill. I have sent private messages to most of them.
A big thank you to all of those great people and best wishes for the new year.
    Sarah

    Well Sara,

I am sorry you feel that you and Davey must quit this forum.

Mavin brought a lot of her problems on herself.

    First she cried victim.

Then she played attack others mode.

Then she played woe is me.

And on and on and on.

This forum is for grown ups. And yes, sometimes it get a bit rowdy. What Mavin couldn't seem to figure out is that no one thought she was the "wise sage" she wanted to be. And no one here, being adults, felt they should be scolded or harangued by Mavin.

And that's it in a nutshell.

    IMO

It's your prerogative to do whatever you want, although I really think you're both overreacting here on an overblown issue characterised by misperceptions.... and after such a short membership.

You've barely had time to know and be known here, and I think your personal family problems so freely aired were treated with kindness and sympathy.

Perhaps you will be more at home on another forum - there are others out there, although I personally believe you'll find it hard to match the quality of both content and member expertise here.

    Good luck for 2011.

over at online poker forum at ftp :D we had a flurry of this im leaving
stuff so a thread dedicated to leaving was created

its called [the official im leaving thread ] and it had therapeutic results
:D cause peeps would say im leaving for Florida today
,or going on a cruise and such and i think it defused the peeps that got frustrated and focused on them selves and injected the hummer needed to
be the alkaseltza to the problem
and some peeps would leave and then announce later that they were back :D

This is his home so let's respect each other in 2011.
I do have to say if members what to leave "Leave" and don't say a word because you will get feedback from it.

I feel badly that you feel you must leave due to "over-reaction" from a situation that was going to come to harsh words sooner or later. As many have stated, this is an adult forum. It's nice that we can come here every day and talk of other things besides gambling. But you need to put into perspective we ARE adults, we don't need to be lectured (unless it's by Bryan or one of the mods) on how we should conduct ourselves.

There seems to be too much of the "I'm packing up my toys and leaving" attitudes lately. No one can force you to stay, and I'm pretty sure no one is going to beg you to stay, but you are the only ones who can make the choice to leave. As jetset stated, this forum holds a ton of gambling expertise which you won't find anywhere else. There are also, many compassionate people here, which I'm pretty certain you won't find anywhere else either.

If you are looking for a "home" where people will consistently give you sympathy, allow you to lead them around by the nose, then perhaps it's a good thing you have decided to depart.

BT has it right, it's a New Year, let's all began to show each other a little more respect and get back to discussing what this forum is supposed to be used for.

Happy new year to all in meisterland!

Internet is where you come to be anonymous and speak your mind, within reasonable boundaries of course.
I have often encountered newbies who do take it personally.
Everything that is said is a matter of opinion.
No need to take it seriously.

Been biting my tongue *BIGTIME* but I really have to say this.

I don't have a side or bias in all the sniping/fighting/insulting/whatever you want to call it, I have been reading the threads (CW won't pay, Mavins War, One group against the other) and just absorbed it all, I pretty much have no issues with anyone, even the ones whose posts may irk me at times.

BUT..a BIG BUT....there sure as hell is a gang mentality here. Doesn't matter to me because I am not a member of any "clique", just a wandering loner :).
I know how websites are, forum, gaming, any site has this kind of grouping together, it can't be helped it's human nature. The thing that bothers me is that at times CM or mods or both kind of take a side. I am sure they try hard not to, but it happens.
Example- Mavins "I am done with this shit" thread. That one was closed by CM. Ok fine, his site his choice. What really bothered me was one person said "hey we should close the thread now" and a few posts later he did. To me it was kind of like putting the muzzle on. I get that CM may have thought things were going to go off the rails and everyone would start the war going again, but I wish he had not done it when he did. It looked like a member gave the order to shut it down, and that's not kosh.
When I saw that I almost started a new thread about it, it really nagged at me. I decided against it because I do not like to stir the shit. But the issue has again reared it's ugly head so I guess I am stepping up :(.

Anyway, think that's why so many are packing their toys and leaving. I know more will come to fill their spots, but I think you are losing a lot of smart, informed, entertaining posters in the process.

Again, that is your opinion and your personal perception, with which many - including myself -might disagree.

I believe you are perhaps mistaking genuine agreements with another member/members' view/s as 'ganging up', and that is simply not the case (in my opinion), because those same members can and do have opposing views on some other issue/s.

To suggest that our host here closed a thread under pressure from a member just doesn't gel with my impression of the owner, who is tolerant but his own man.

Again it's a matter of perception - I saw it as an unpleasant, uncalled for thread, where many members had already posted opinions of varying shades and which had pretty much run its course. I didn't personally think it was serving a useful purpose any longer. CM clearly didn't think so either, and I believe his action was based on that and that alone - and he did offer to reopen it if there were strong feelings...

Regarding the mods, I have to say that - again in my view - Websczas, Simmo and Max are pretty even-handed in their handling of the members here, although they, too are entitled to an opinion on issues. I find them generally pretty easy-going, although they can get hardass when things go beyond the limits of the forum rules. I like that - it helps keep things on an even keel when emotions start spinning out of control and the insults become too personal.

As for "so many are packing their toys and leaving", I think that may be something of an exaggeration - look at the daily rollcall for instance...and I would bet that many of those who "left" are in fact regular visitors still as lurkers.

In fact I know it to be so from their comments elsewhere, and from their inability to resist adding 'thanks' to certain posts even though they have allegedly departed.

You are right that new blood is always arriving, and I hope that continues - it's a good, healthy thing imo and I welcome new members and what they can bring to the table in the shape of experience, talent, knowledge, personality and sometimes new perspectives. This site has always been fortunate in that respect, mainly because there is sufficient good content to hold members once they find the site.

The only reason I closed the thread is because I saw it as potentially flamelike, and I am trying to enjoy the holidays without being PMd several times a day with "oh, oh - they're at it again" ... sheesh people.

If you want the thread open, all you have to do is ask.

    It's open now. Please behave.

    Thank You.

Bryan-I did not want to ask because honestly I didn't have an opinion on it and was not involved in the discussion. The only reason I did say anything was because it just bothered me that someone said "close it up" and then you did . Like I said I understand your reasons and respect that, but it did bother me as to how it could have been (and was by myself) perceived.

Jet- Everything you said I pretty much said myself and agree with. I did stress that I know the mods and CM have a job to do. I have no issue with that nor do I feel in general that they are unfair. Like I said my problem was with a member saying it should be closed and then it was. Probably just bad timing, but to me it looked bad. The gang mentality description may sound overblown but I know a few here who likely have felt ganged up on, it is what it is. People who are forum buds are naturally going to join each other in debating someone, and a lot of times it does start to look like a giant group bash. Let's face it we never do outgrow high school, there will always be cliques, there will always be like personalities grouping up, as long as no one group gets special treatment all should be well.

CM has reopened and hopefully everyone who wants to add a voice can do that politely minus the name calling or insinuating :)

I hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

We may not all like one another, or be the best of friends, but I think we should all act like adults and respect each other. It's not too much to ask.

    I just wanted to add...
I don't feel as though I am a member of any gang/clique/or whatever here. I too, feel pretty much a nomad and I state what I feel. I don't care if no one agrees with me at any time, it's my opinion alone. I can't force anyone to see my point of view, and I don't expect we will all agree on everything.

Yes, my "packing up their toys and leaving" statement was an exaggeration, as I do know there are many "lurkers" (noticed from use of the thanks button and the numbers of members showing on the current viewers status). I do think, again MY opinion, that when Bryan decides to close a thread it is usually because the thread has run its course. Do I always agree? No. I've often thought that when posts have been deleted/ moved that it has been for a reason beyond my ken and I may not always agree with that too.

But it's a choice when a member decides to leave. I guess I don't understand why members need to "air" the fact and make a big fuss out of it, instead of just doing it...
