North Korea and US politics

my original post:
I have no idea of guns in the UK. What I'm getting at is if the UK had the same gun culture USA has the criminals would be using guns and not knives or acid.

The left ultimately wants to get rid of the 2nd amendment and I think that is why the NRA is so unreasonable.

you:
It’s been stated over and over. No one wants to get rid of the 2 nd amendment. When will you realize this is scare tactics from the nra.

There was a poll that showed people want some form of gun control.

me:
Because a progressive admitted it the other night on Tucker, no video of it though.

you:
A progressive like who?

me:
I forget his name, but tucker pressed him and he admitted it. I could not find the video.

you:
Right. That means it’s no one who has any influence or knows much.

Some semblance of gun law and maybe less media attention would help.

me:
We'd have to see the video now wouldn't we before we could determine the credibility of the guest.

you:
sorry Fox News like cnn is not news. it’s entertainment.

me:
I trust tucker, he's skeptical on almost everything. I find him honest as well.

end

I never said they all lie, all I said was Tucker had a progressive guest admit it and would have posted the video so others could judge for themselves, like I always try and do.

You're the one that took issue with it.

You’re saying that the video of Diane f is the progressive you were talking about.
That is laughable. For one, you made it sound like the progressive admitted to wanting to take away the 2 nd amendment.

Two. That clip is two clips with a 25 year difference.

Like I said the lengths you will all go to prove a point is amazing.

I took issue because you are showing a video clip that has two clips with Diane who is 60 year old and diane who is now 84. And you’re trying to prove what exactly.

Here’s my question why post a video like that?

This is why stormy Daniels is important:

News or fake news.

Mr. Trump’s atty Mr. Cohen received approximately $500,000 in the mos. after the election from a company controlled by a Russian Oligarc with close ties to Mr. Putin. These monies may have reimbursed the $130k payment.

Viktor Vekselberg is a pro-Putin Ukrainian oligarch worth $13 billion. Through his company Renova, he holds a 5.5% stake in Bank of Cyprus, where Wilbur Ross served as vice chairman of the board until his confirmation as US commerce secretary.

Russian oligarch sectioned by the US Govt

This would have some huge implications for mr trump.

Im pretty sure that was one of the guys Trump pushed for sanctions on. I feel as though if Trump was in collusion he wouldnt try and piss the guy off.

I dont know much about it aside from what you just put so will be interesting to see where it will go. Does look pretty sketchy but who knows with the liberal agenda. Could be twisted all to hell.

I just saw that Israel attacked an Iranian military base in Syria that killed 9. Guess some countries are tired of playing games and are really going after Iran aggressively.

Sorry to interrupt your guys cute 3 way massage session but this should surprise no one with Trumps america first policy and new tough stance reputation.

I remember when people in here went on and on that his tariffs were bad and would start a massive trade war. What ended up happening? After China suggested retaliatory tariffs, they caved on automobiles, opening their markets and are now in negotiations.

Trumps tough stance on North Korea. And now North Korea has agreed to give up its nuclear program, release hostages and have a summit with the USA. And yes we know, the people who cannot or will not give the guy credit state it was all China even though their overlords CNN and BBC and all the rest disagree

And now his tough stance on Iran. The same type of accusations are flying without even seeing where it will end up first.

Wrong on all accounts as usual and posting misleading information as always.

Where did China cave in? The opening of their market was announced quite a few times in the past years and little happened. China will do micro-steps as usual but certainly not your "hysterical" cave in. And how much did the mighty US delegation achieve so far in their negotiations? The first round ended with no results other than the US showing what they want and China saying "No".

Plus, both China and the EU filed or prepared to file a complaint with the WTO against the tariffs. The arbitration could end just like for Bush.

NK has not yet agreed to anything concrete in writing, all that is are verbal statements or memorandums. The text of the Panmunjom Declaration says: "South and North Korea confirmed the common goal of realizing, through complete denuclearization, a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula."

It's a start, but no concrete plans or agreement to even start the denuclearization have been signed as of today. Once something like that is signed then you can say they agree, currently it is only a declaration of intent. Something the other two Kim's issued as well at some point and it led nowhere.

Where are the freed hostages? According to your hyperbole post a few pages back they should have been already freed in the last 2 weeks. Neither is there any official confirmation for the US-NK summit.

You think you can compare the boiling hotspot that the Middle East is with the isolated NK or some commercial tariffs?

Quote: "The same type of accusations are flying without even seeing where it will end up first."

The only thing I see here is you counting the chickens early as always in order to promote your beloved Mr. T.

You talked to Mr. T to know that one? Or seen the meeting notes that he personally pushed for sanctions on the particular individual? Between congress agreeing on the sanctions and Mr. T actually issuing them were more than 6 months. That is more than enough time for his "buddies" to move monies around, creat new companies in the name of other people, etc ,etc... in clear words securing their assets with the generous help of Mr. T by waiting long enough until they were ready.

And what has a payment from a Russian linked company to do with the liberal agenda? Following the money trail will uncover the truth, not some liberal agenda.

You do like military intervention, speak wars, do you? Israel attacked previously military compounds in Syria where they suspected/knew that Iranian equipment/personnel is stationed. So nothing new and the broad sentiment is that it is Israel poking at Iran to start retaliating as then they would have enough reason for an all-out war, supported by the US of course.

If that happens, we will have Israel/US against Syria, Russia, Iran and Turkey. Good luck with that not ending in WWIII. But then you like wars..... as long as they happen far away from your front porch. :D

In regards to freeing hostages

I am going by what has been written by the washington post, vice, fox, cnn, msnbc, cbc, abc, bbc, cbs, usa today. Some sites stating they have been moved to hotels.

But all not good enough for you because you "think" otherwise.

As for North Korea stating it will give up its nuclear program. This news came directly out of North Korea and South Korea. Both lies I guess. And not enough for someone to suspect it to be credible enough.

yes I can compare NK to Iran. Quite easily.

I can give a concrete example how China operates as I was personally involved with this one.

More than a decade ago I took part in a EU-Chinese conference in Beijiing that addressed technology transfer / intellectual rights because the company I was working for had a direct interest in that. A few Chinese companies were copying our machinery 1:1 and selling it a 25% of our prize into Europe.

I was a mere small fry among the 400+ participants. The big players like BMW, Siemens, Bosch were of course at the forefront, but it was very good to learn how China is handling such things.

The result of the conference was a pledge from the ministry of commerce to address the issues and come up with some protections for foreign companies. The sales of the copied machinery indeed stopped to our amazement, only for us to find out that just 3 months later two Chinese companies went into a joint venture in Turkey, made some demo installations and were flying potential clients from all over Europe to Turkey. On top, the Turkish partners made some very minor modifications and got them the CE seal and other conformity certificates since the EU and Turkey have an agreement on that, making the copied machinery fully admissible to the European market.

End result was that they sold now their machinery at 35 - 40% of our and our European competitors prices and there was nothing we could do against, nada.

China is not stupid! Hence, they will never just "cave in" as you put it.

Go and read up how China has opened its market in mere micro-steps, that is not opinion, it is how it has been for the last 2 decades. As for the announcements you posted, you can find similar ones nearly every year, yet it still remains at the micro-steps. There is no indication whatsoever that it will be different this time.

As for the free hostages....you were the only one hailing it as "massive progress" or "incredible progress" or similar, can't remember the exact words. You can always go back in the thread to read it.

I pointed you to the latest declaration. Go and read the past declarations and maybe you will see then the similarities. I didn't say they are lies, I said they are declarations of intent. But then reading properly has not been your strong point when it comes to my posts.

And if you are not sure check, the difference in an English dictionary between "declaration" and "agreement".

You easily comparing NK with Iran only shows your naiveté when it comes to the Middle East.

Again, not paying attention. When I used the word caved it was in relation to the beginning, as later in my post I mentioned "negotiations". Lets not forgot the US also got China to take beef for the first time in 14 years under the Trump admin.

So you think that Israel will start a war against Iran on its own? And Iran will stay on its own? Why did Iran confer about Syria in Turkey with Russia and Turkey, just for fun?

Yes, you do seem to like wars. You posted your support for the US to preemptively attack Iran and North Korea and that for no apparent reason since none of the countries had attacked the US, ever. I can search for your posts in the Mr. T thread if you need a reminder.

I don't contest those declarations and the intent China shows in them. But again, read the history. There are tons of similar declarations from China, yet the results were always micro-steps.

China won't just simply open their market completely because the pressure comes from Mr. T.

Again cherry picking. Show the whole comment. "Pretty sure" which means confident but not fact and left open to be corrected. Then followed by the claim "I dont know much about it."

Sure go ahead and search them. Have fun. I stand by my comments. If you threaten to destroy entire countries and populations that hold woman children and elderly, you reap what you sow. Threats like that are to be taken seriously. Putting words in my mouth is ridiculous though. But carry on with it if it makes you feel better.

I dont assume any of it. I certainly dont jump to conclusions about world war 3. How many times has the term been thrown around to be nothing but ridiculous hype to reel in viewers. Same was said if US attacked Syria again. Russia would get involved, then the US allies, then China. World war 3. In reality, nobody did a thing.

Russia may be aggressive but I am fairly confident they would do everything in their power to avoid world war 3. Including getting involved with Iran. Russia has no obligations under and treaty to come to Irans aid. Dont forget it wasnt long ago these 2 countries were at each others throats. And iran has spoken about Russias intentions in Syria even though they are on the same side in Syria.

Also, Putin and Israel have a pretty good relationship. I remember reading various articles on this and listening to Putin speak about it in a conference.

The last US attack in Syria certainly didn't have the potential to start WWIII since Mr. T informed Vlad and with that again Assad of the incoming missiles, the military even set-up corridors to avoid an accidental hit.

I agree with Russia being cautious but also trying to get the maximum out of the current situation to secure their status as "world power". They actually don't want the Iranians mixing in Syria as it could potentially impede their influence.

The current situation is though so heated that a single spark / misunderstanding / accidental hit could start a full-out war again, something that the world doesn't really need. There are so many groups involved that it is sometimes hard to see who is on who's side.

The link (remarkable success) goes to a story about a freed hostage from Egypt. Nothing to do with the currently held hostages in NK. So Alex Ward was not referring to the NK story.

I agree though that Mr. T deserves part of the credit if and when those 3 hostages cross the border to SK. But as the negotiator states in his interview, it is calculated progress as NK sees it best for their negotiations.

The main point however, is that these guys return to their families in good condition, no matter who gets then what part of the credit.

He sanctioned him nonetheless.

You can feel its useless all you want. It doesnt make that line of thinking wrong.

Maybe my fault for not including the above paragraph

It would also prove a huge win for trump:

that is present tense and future tense. Not past tense. And a continuation from the remarks above.

Maybe it will all go to shit. It has before a couple of times. But right now the progress being made is credited to US and China and SK. If nothing happens then nobody gets credit and NK goes back to being excluded from the world stage and continues to starve.

Quote: "How do you know that it will be an all out world war? Talk about hyperbole and jumping way ahead of yourself."

If my comment is hyperbole, then Israel must be totally hyperbolic since they opened bomb shelters in Northern Israel, moved military units to the Syrian border and activated reserve units because of "abnormal Iranian military movements" on the Syrian side. They are usually well informed.

Overall, the whole region is under high tension, usually a sign that a war could be easily triggered.

Giving someone 6 months before issuing sanctions is like not being sanctioned at all since this kind of people have a plethora of options to secure their assets.

That doesnt mean world war 3 is coming. It just means tensions are high.

I would be surprised if it didnt escalate to something but there is alot of in between and numerous escalations before world war 3 breaks out. Not sure why, would have to read up on it but Im surprised Iran hasnt attacked Israel back yet for the past 2 attacks its done on their military. But maybe whatever Israel saw, was a retaliation incoming.

Trump has done the right thing with NK until now. Wish he were this tough against Russia too. He really deserves credit here, but if I were Kim Jong-Un...I wouldn't make a deal with US now. Could make a deal with SK, China, Europe, Japan etc. Gets his country in better condition. It's ridiculous how one crazy person in US can nullify these nuclear deals, just because it was his campaign promise.

Absolutely agree.

Let's not be too surprised if the US were to finally get their wish and invade Iran, with the pretext of Iran developing WMDs. How dare they! Only America are allowed those!

So your partner in a pact goes back on a deal + you get punished with crippling sanctions. Others aren't that interested in propping up the wreck of a deal and......Iran's supposed to curl up in a ball? The deal is as good as dead so why not have a nuclear programme?

The ones predominantly concerned about Iran are Israel. Their dislike for one another is no secret......but as Iran is part of the 'Axis of Evil' it's quite extraordinary how it's Israel fueling tensions by murdering eight Iranians in Damascus. But I guess some things we can let slide if you have the US as your ally!

Except they didnt secure them.

The loss is for their shares in the companies, not for their cash assets. Do you really think they are that stupid to just let their cash in the open? Russia was the "Wild Wild East" for years after 1989, everyone, who was in the right positions or had the needed contacts, was grabbing what they could at a nominal price. That is the main reason why there are so many billionaire oligarchs.

Their cash assets are spread all over the world or invested in real estate, all via countless shell companies. Easy for them to close some down, wash the money via a few tax havens and open new companies under different names, if they get enough advance warning.

And those shares for e.g. Rusal are on the way up again. Not much to worry about for them.

I don't know about a Russian case, but when Silvio Berlusconi was investigated they found that his cleaning maid was the registered director for over 100 companies.

Starting to filter through on the News channels in Australia that the three hostages have been released by NK as a good will gesture. No further details available though.

Pompeo is back in NK, so tactically this would be the typical moment for NK to release them. Past releases were very similar. Gives the US a win so they get energized and stay positive for the near future.

You don't have to go as far as Israel.

The new US ambassador to Germany in his first ever tweet in his position told German companies: Stop business with Iran or else! So now even allies get threatened.

This is the exact text of his tweet:

"As @realDonaldTrump said, US sanctions will target critical sectors of Iran’s economy. German companies doing business in Iran should wind down operations immediately."

Wowzers. He looks to be testing the waters with what he can get away with. I'm sure Merkel will be chuffed to hear that!

The only ones left to stand up to him will be comrade Putin at this rate.....

To be honest, Mr. T never has regarded anyone as ally and never will unless it fits his immediate agenda which is like the next few days or weeks. Then it's time to throw them under the bus again.

This kind of Bronx bully tactics work for a while because everyone around tries to find a way to deal with it. In the long term though, he might just be left with Vlad only.

Again, that's the business streak. Use & discard :D

As for diplomacy and long term planning......not so much

Always an excuse for everything. And I mean everything. These are their assets that could have been moved. One losing 2.25 billion.

The sanctioned Russian oligarch is just the tip of the iceberg.

The shell company that Cohen set up to pay stormy Daniels received more than 4 million dollars.
For providing ‘consulting’ services by Cohen.

You can imagine all of the assertions and conclusions that are being made in the media right now.

Irans government response in parliament was to light a paper US flag on fire and chant death to america.

This was the first time observers stated it has ever been done inside of parliament.

Give them more time, its only been 40 years! Leave poor Iran alone they are such nice people!!

But but but a few of you are preaching what the USA did does nothing but harm the NK deal.

This is what you consider a threat?

Since im very trumpesque Im deciding on a nice nickname for you. hatin harry or hyperbole harry. Not sure yet

Does Iran even want to try and keep the deal anyways? Yeah lets insult the other countries around it too. The ones who fought to stay in it. Burn american flags, chant death to america, insult some of th eother countries in it. Especially the ones that tried to save it. Such a calm and reasonable bunch.

Its alot harder to treat Russia like North Korea. One is a super power, one isnt. Trump has ramped up sanctions and rhetoric on Russia where before he barely said anything about them.

24 of the people he recently sanctioned are 7 oligarchs and 17 top aid officials all within Putins inner circle. One including his son in law.

He has also warned Putin directly several times over the past 6 weeks when calling them out.

Also. Since I figured most of what you post is made up. From the reports I have read this morning. It states that these names were brought up by the treasurey mid January 2018. Which is just over 3 and a half months. Not 6 like you claim.

"Many of the Russian oligarchs and politicians and affiliated businesses had already been identified by the treasury and state department as potential targets on a list that was compiled and published in January."

Also, from what I have read all these names remained confidential. Can you provide some info stating that they had 6 months prior knowledge?

Even though its incredible, amazing and great progress considering it was just months ago that North Korea was threatening to Nuke Guam. I hope Trump can keep calm and not alienate NK by overly patting himself on the back. Most of us know you have done a great job so far, we dont need to be told it and told how you are running over North Korea.

He’s too busy tweeting about revoking press credentials. That pesky 1st amendment just gets in the way of everything.

And probably yelling about the michael Cohen mess..

At&t paid Cohen 200k right after trump threatened to stop time warner merger. #draintheswamp

A day without Trump going on a twitter rant about something would be like a day going without food. Wont happen :D

Time to go watch Gina Haspel in front of senate. Democrats crying about lack of females and then Trump tries to hire the first female (mind you not because of gender but credentials) in the history of the CIA as director and democrats cry even harder because she is "too tough"
