chicken pox parties were a thing here too (and seems to have a resurgence)

Chicken pox vaccines are not offered routinely in the UK

Mumps and especially Measles can be very nasty and may turn serious . They have been largely eradicated here due to vaccines. Now they are making an emergence.

Just point out, there's a lot of home-grown stupidity as well.
I forever see online ridiculous retorts such as 'well, if YOUR kid is vaccinated, it shouldn't matter to you if mine isnt'

But are you seriously saying i should have to vaccinate my child?
I dont even have a child.
I will have to spend and unreasonable amount of time and effort before im able to vaccinate a child that is mine.
Please reconsider.

Measles: the risk of death among those infected is about 0.2%

And "Complications are usually more severe in adults."

Most people survive measles, though in some cases, complications may occur. About 1 in 4 individuals will be hospitalized and 1–2 in 1000 will die. Complications are more likely in children under age 5 and adults over age 20

So it's a pretty serious illness but again I don't see why a single vaccine is outlawed leaving only the combined mmr one

edit: just for completeness:

Mothers who are immune to measles pass antibodies to their children while they are still in the womb, especially if the mother acquired immunity through infection rather than vaccination. Such antibodies will usually give newborn infants some immunity against measles, but these antibodies are gradually lost over the course of the first nine months of life. Infants under one year of age whose maternal anti-measles antibodies have disappeared become susceptible to infection with the measles virus.

So nature doesn't leave us undefended against these illnesses and it is the fittest who would survive, however I'm not against science defeating it through a clever vaccine, I just hope we're not causing a rise in autism through too much vaccinating where some children are susceptible to an adverse reaction, but it can't be looked at thoroughly as there is too much at stake money and confidence wise, i.e. it is possible that many would become frightened and object to the vaccines if it was admitted they do cause problems for some.

When someone decides to not vacinate their child that child can catch a disease and infect others, like babies or any infant not old enough to have had the vaccine.... so effectively they put others at risk and actually impact on their choice to protect against the disease. Unless you can categorically prove that having the vaccine will make you ill or much more at risk than the disease itself i can't see any reason not to vaccinate.

"Will". What makes you think i am not already:laugh:

Okay i am not that fat. But i must admit i do not have a healthy lifestyle. Drink way too much coffee. Apart from coffee it is diet coke. Eat very unhealthy. I could easily eat crisps and cakes instead of a dinner. I smoke.

Only good thing going is i don't drink alcohol very often tho i used to.

Got to stage where i might as well just do as i please. Don't plan too live for ever and watched people i know that were healthy die before me. So long as i die with a fag in one hand and coffee in other after eating couple of empire biscuits i will go happy:D

I know what you mean my best friend from school never smoked, rarely drank , exercised regularly and ate healthily. Diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer died at 57. So it makes you think.

Another chocolate biscuit please lol and a milky latte  :D

both my mother and brother are cancer survivors (barely, in the case of my brother) - neither smokes, brother socially drank and mom not at all

I drink like a fish and smoke 2 packs a day , nada (knock on wood)

That's what i mean. An old friend died of Leukemia who unlike every one else never drank smoked took drugs etc. . Another dies of heart attack in late 30's who also had healthy lifestyle.

Always said i would be happy to hit 50. Less than 3 years and i have made it

Without anything linking this to vaccines, i don't see how this is in any way relevant.

Harry started this!
To be fair, this all began when I pounded out a list of factors that our children face and how it affects education programs here in America.
I only tacked on vaccines to my list of factors because my friends situation has touched me emotionally and I believe it is a VERY REAL issue that can be remedied.
I never said vaccines aren't necessary. I believe in the wonder of modern science! If anything, I'd call taking your children to get vaccinated--> Russian Roulette, toddler edition. It is the CONTAMINANTS of fetal tissue that cause the harm. Again, introducing stem cell into infants and children with active stem cells is a recipe for disaster. It's been proven that the genome associated with autism is susceptible to mutation, especially in male children. The amount of fetal tissue contaminant varies from product to product. Seems to me, there is a remedy to this.

Must admit never saw you so passionate about a subject before.

And i agree with what you are saying.

Measles is occuring more in UK now mainly because a lot of the migrant's coming into the country do not believe in vaccination . Many other diseases are making comebacks. Like you say the benefits outweigh any possible side effects and parents should be doing all they can to protect their kids.

And you were not even here for my Keanu Reeves meltdown.
He only assists me with my arguments when im really passionate about something.

Just post the studies done that show these results so everyone can read them.
Thats the best way to convince people.
Just saying "its been proven" without anything backing it up wont change anyones mind.

To get to the actual study, you'll need to sign up for an account at academicjournals.org.

Edit: I feel like people should do their own research. I provided the link against my better judgement. What I provide isn't as effective as organic discovery.

If you search "fetal tissue contaminants in vaccines" you'll see that there have been numerous studies. One such study by the CDC, that purportedly "debunked" the link between fetal tissue contaminants & autism was recently busted for omitting their research completely and lying about their findings. There IS a conspiracy. The "conspiracy theorist" label is something i've learned to covet, by the way. Everyone has my permission to wield it freely!:D

Top link is her paper, second one is someone picking it apart.
There is so much to read, ill have to get back to it later.
When searching about this topic tho, the studies saying theres a link seem to commonly involve religious people. And they are outnumbered.

But like i said, i have to get back to it.
Im not read up on the subject enough to understand all terms, so i keep having to google things to understand them, and it makes my brain tired.

My ongoing research has broadened out from vaccines and led me to this interesting medical/science expert, Peter C. Gøtzsche from Denmark with very impressive credentials and career in medicine evaluation and research, a masters degree in biology and chemistry etc...

By reviewing the randomized trials we received from the European Medicines Agency, we have shown that the HPV vaccines may cause serious neurological harms, which the authorities otherwise claim do not exist. We are publishing this, also in a PhD thesis, and we presented the results at our 25th anniversary symposium at Rigshospitalet on October 12th.

Instead of silencing an important voice, Rigshospitalet and the Ministry should protect me. Firing me sends the unfortunate signal that if your research results are inconvenient and cause public turmoil, or threaten the pharmaceutical industry’s earnings, which we are very concerned about in Denmark, we will fire you.

The case is not about my person, but about important principles that the leadership of Cochrane trampled underfoot. Cochrane’s credibility plummeted because I am known for high quality research, integrity and incorruptibility.

Why does Rigshospitalet want to fire me? It is extremely rare that Rigshospitalet fires a chief physician. I have taken care of the interests of the Nordic Cochrane Centre, the Cochrane Collaboration, the patients and Denmark, and believe I have served my country in an exemplary manner during my 25-years senior role as an official.

Wow bear that was a bit low! I was just about to offer my ‘adult film acting services’ aswel
I will still need your services!
I have a couple slot-themed films

"Flame Thrusters"
"Loins of egypt"

Some of them i wont even have to change the names for.

Jack and the "beanstalk"
Release the "kraken"
Sticky bandits
Rise of "merlin"
Etc..etc..

Goddamnit @mack341 didnt we settle for pesticides?
Are you really gonna make me get Keanu again.
Im warning you buddy, he is not in a good mood.

Once he is done playing with the puppies hes coming for ya!

I was a bit sad to find out today that jordan peterson had to be put into an induced coma to help treat an addiction to anti anxiety meds, I think he's on the mend but has suffered some damage.

"After several failed rehabilitation attempts in North American hospitals Ms Peterson took him to Moscow for an “incredibly gruelling” detox. Shortly after arriving he was placed in an eight-day induced coma to fight a case of severe pneumonia. “He nearly died several times,” said Ms Peterson, who added that the next update would come from her father. “We are extremely lucky and grateful that he is alive.”

Ms Peterson said that the decision to travel to Russia had been made in “extreme desperation” but praised doctors there for having “the guts to medically detox someone from benzodiazepines”.

I really enjoy listening to that guy, he goes into subjects on a deeper level and is interested in Jung and those types of things, not typical in this day and age of superficial self help books.

Was going to create a thread but thought 'no the NK/trump/nature vids/vaccines/keanu reeves thread will suffice' :p

Think i still have a couple boxes of benzodiazepines left over from back in the day.
Probably well past their expiration dates by now.
Very effective at removing feelings of anxiety.
Downside is that it removes all the good feelings aswell.

More or less turns you into a zombie emotion-wise.
Nothing is bad and nothing is good, everything is just kind of ok.
Its a pretty scary drug, and i can easily see how people get addicted.

I didnt like how it removed my peaks aswell as the valleys, and thats why i still have a bunch left.
I still used it, but only when things got really bad.

Overall id say its a pretty good drug, if used correctly.
Very effective at what its doing, perhaps too effective.

5/10 Honeyjars.

yes I've taken some for fear of flying, it's good but I guess if you rely on it every day it's going to catch up with you eventually. I think Jordan was starting to get the opposite effect, becoming very restless and agitated [akathisia??]

valium is what they use to call it, I think if you're very anxious about something it helps to get you through it, I've tried that herbal version, valerian, for stress and sleeping problems, it's not bad but you wouldn't want to take it everyday.

You don't get pneumonia from a benzo addiction tho. I wouldn't call myself addicted but sadly I have to take some medication to help me with anxiety when needed. Not sure how they call it in English but I'm "therapy-resistent" for the regular anti-depression meds, I've tried alot of them and was in a bad state for over a year while testing them. You're supposed to feel better after about a month but for me it would just get worse.

CBD oil sometimes helps too for anxiety and sleeping issues. Other than that I haven't found anything natural which helps me.

You can however get pneumonia from severe alcoholism. My father passed away after complications from alcohol addiction, pneumonia being one of the main culprits.

he always struck me as somebody in good health from his interviews and appearances on tv, I suppose doing all this media enagement, debates and also the travelling in such a short period of time is going to take its toll.

Tell you what I found helpful for stress was lavender oil, it wouldn't hold back an anxiety attack but it can definitely help sleep and to be more relaxed.

In the uk today there was rumblings that the cannabis products [cbd oil etc] will need to obtain a license otherwise they'll be removed from health store shelves, more evidence to me of big pharma meddling, why should a natural product have to go through expensive testing that no company will see the benefit of as it's non patentable. If people feel no benefit they'll stop buying the stuff, and any risks and harms would be known by now.

The same thing happened with st johns wort, hundreds of scare stories in the press suddenly appeared to convince the public that it's dangerous despite being widely used in germany for many years to treat depression. I think it's even prescribed in germany by doctors, and the germans take a very logical approach to life, they wouldn't offer dud medicines to their public.

Ah, conversation slowly but surely moving towards legalization of marijuana.
Pooh approves.

Altho im sure if Usa keeps legalizing it in more states, we will see the same here aswell.

I'm surprised you haven't yet, the netherlands have out liberalled sweden! :eek2: :p

Amazing a plant like that can have so much active compounds in it, plus the practical uses of the plant

industrial hemp: It can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper,

Some people claim it can help fight cancer and also has been effectively used for epilepsy; just because it can't be patented I'd still like to think it's potential medicinal uses/properties could be fully explored by the medical world even if it threatens their profits.

edit: unless the drug companies isolate and then produce synthesised versions of the active compounds which could be patented

Its a very versatile little plant.
But as with many other drugs, abusing instead of using, gives poor results.
And as you say, there is no money in doing research into it, since you cant patent it.
Its a bit like with the electric car.
Patents&prototypes for electric cars have been bought up by the oil-industry since the 70.s
Cars similar to todays Tesla would probably have been created much earlier if not held back.

but you can genetically modify it for strains.. could you not patent that?

re - Inventions, such as newly crossed and purified strains, devices used to cultivate and consume Cannabis, mobile applications, extracts, extraction processes, treatments, designs, and other uses, can all be patented as long as they are novel, non-obvious, and have not been disclosed to the public more than one year ago.

yeah I heard that happened too, also I did read somebody invented an engine that runs off water  but I don't know how credible that was, and lightbulbs that could last a thousand years.

It must have happened over the years that some good ideas/patents were bought out and then buried, I would find it hard to believe it has never occurred.

Lightbulbs are made to die out alot quicker than needed.
The link i posted is not the best example, because its a pretty shitty lightbulb light-wise.
But since theres no money in making bulbs last 50+ years, they dont.
