They completely botched the HTML5 transition. The autoplay feature now looks like they didn't even care and they also never addressed the "fast first spin(s)" bug in the feature. The slot is laggy and not as pretty as it once was.

MGS really went down the toilet in the last 3 years. It's almost sad to see what was once the top online slot provider reduced to a shadow of its former self.

Don't know if it's been mentioned on here (or where to post so put it here with it being AWP too) but the Bell Fruit Games Factory closed down just before Christmas.

They didn't do themselves any favours with the stupid dongles they started putting in their AWPs, which meant the machine committed hara-kiri if the operator didn't pay for new dongles every few years. Unsurprisingly this was not popular.

The AWP has been on death row for a long time, thanks to a combination of the jackpots getting too big, dogshit percentages and their compensated nature meaning they were vulnerable to all sorts of manipulation by the 'pro player' fraternity.

Random machines are already taking their place in many locations, and this will continue IMO.

The warlock of firetop mountain was the first one I read, loved it. I'm surprised the two writers didn't go into the movie business, writing plots and scripts for fantasy type films, also the books could've been adapted into individual movies too, loads of great ideas in them.

I think I may still have a few of those books somewhere in my Mom's house. Freedom Fighter (IIRC) was one of my faves, based on a futuristic vehicle in a civil war/looting environment??

Whilst we're kind of on this subject (sorry Chops!) does anyone remember or ever play those play by mail (PBM) games.

I recall the one where you had to make so many 'moves' per turn, including things such as R1 (rob someone) D1 (deal some drugs) etc, amazed they lasted as long as they did without being subject to our nanny state

Having some issues getting into my account tho.
I know my username+password.
But now it seems i need to start the game via blizzards gamelauncher.
And i never get the option to even enter username+password anywhere.

Not sure im to keen to start over fresh.

How long is it since you last played? If you're not too far out of date it might not be too painful to get back into the game, the last couple of expansions have really pushed the power levels though.

Oh its been a while for sure.
I remember they released some new game-mode just when i stopped.
I dont remember the names of the expansions im afraid.
Only one i remember is the Cthun expansion, but i know i played for a couple more after that one.

If you're playing on a Windows device (and I think Mac as well), you'll need to install the Battle.net client and log into that, it's basically the game launcher for all of Blizzard's games.

It should ask for the username and password the first time you launch it.

I need a username (email) + password to login to the battlenet client, but not when starting heartstone.
It just sends me straight to the tutorial.
I only played on tablet back in the day, mostly "throwing" the screen to the tv so i got the big-screen.
And back then i never had a battlenet client, i just logged in with username+password.

I have to see if i can shake some life into the tablet, because im not sure what mail i used on it.
Most probably some g-mail account i set up specifically for the tablet.

If i can only gain access to my old account, i should be able to build 2-3 competetive decks by dusting some of my old cards.

FWIW, that mental monsters AWP was not that bad at all, IIRC, a clone of Monopoly Road to Riches and I had a force/emptier on that, could make about £60-£80 per machine on a good day

It's certainly quieter over there than it used to be, which is understandable considering the UK AWP is pretty much dead now, but there are a fair few of us still actively posting.

There have been a couple of board migrations over the years so it's possible they've purged old inactive accounts at some point.

I would have thought it would have migrated to FOTB's and online better than it did though, considering the size of the user base. Suppose its just the way forums are now though, mine is still busy but nowhere near as it was 15-20 years ago.

I doubt this will be of much interest to anyone who isn't familiar with UK AWPs, but one of the quirks of compensated machines is that they can do some pretty sketchy stuff, like offer 'gambles' that can't be won.

(Imagine being offered a gamble on a random game, a basic x2 gamble where you pick a red or black card and if you guess correctly you win. Imagine if behind the scenes the code had already decided that the gamble was a pre-determined lose, so there was no correct pick, it wasn't a 50/50 gamble, it was a 100/0 gamble, UK AWPs do this sort of thing all the time.)

Anyway, back in 2003, thanks to the advent of emulation and early virtual machine technology, it became possible to 'snapshot' a UK AWP before a gamble was undertaken, and then 'rewind time' to replay the gamble again, at which point it was proven that they were indeed dirty cheating bastards.

My video is only really to link off to a friend of mine's video, I was far too emotionally invested in the whole affair at the time to make the full video about it.

So the top prize is relatively sane, they must just have lumped a lot of the RTP into bigger wins then, which explains its lumpiness!

I see PnG peg it at 10/10 for volatility
