On Friday night Katherine ben and I all went to bed at around 10pm (party animals I know) and when I woke in the morning to go to work I noticed my car wasnt where I left it.

As soon as I saw there was no car my stomach dropped, did I lend it to a friend what the hell has happened.

I've gone to go back inside and I see these shoe marks going up my kitchen window ( they must have used a bin or something to lift themselves up) as the window is pretty high up.

Anyway I pretty then realise what has happened and called the cops straight away. I give them a statement and a discription of the car and thats it????

7 HOURS later the police decide to arrive at my house to take my statement ( give the thiefs a good 7 hour head start).

What I'am most upset about is NOT the car but the fact I had my child sleeping in the next room on his own, I didnt even hear any noises or anything. If anything happened to my boy- I couldnt live with myself nor would I want to.

Long story short its two days later NO car- the cops say the MO is to steal them and take em for joy rides and then burn them to the ground.

They say its probably gone.

Ive got insurance but it will only cover what I owe on the car.

Im also in the middle of selling my townhouse and I had an open house day on Saturday and of course I didnt say " oh I just got broken into last night and my car stolen" its the first time anything like this has happened there in 11 years so thats not to bad.

Here is a link to the realestate agents who are taking my house on to sell.

Tell me what you think of the place guys n Gals!!

I paid $96,000for it 11 years ago and look what Ive got it selling for now

mate, i know what you mean and i could never live if something would happen to my child. i hope cops get that bastard!

I've never had my house broken into, can't imagine how that'd feel... but I have had a car stolen... from a mall, and man, that feeling that punches you in the stomach when you look to where the car was, and isn't any longer. Just reading your post brings that feeling right up. Mine was a small Toyota pick-up, and we were told they generally steal utility cars to drive down to Mexico (I'm in Los Angeles). The luxury type cars are chopped up for parts. Never found mine. Anyways, glad you are safe! Having your home violated is bad enough, but whilst you're in it and asleep? Yikes! :eek2:

Someone stole Ray's Jeep Wrangler a couple of years ago, it was gone for over a week and we thought it was gone for good. Then we got a call from the cops that they found it - the people who took it drove it around for awhile but it had a manual choke that they couldn't figure out and when they stopped it they weren't able to start it again. They didn't burn it, but they busted up the interior and broke the seats - stole the stereo and the CDs everything in the glove box then poured soda and chocolate syrup all over the inside.

When we got it back it stunk of B.O. too. But we hosed it out and replaced the seats and the stereo and it was all good.

Anyhow there's still a chance your car may be found - if they took it and parked it somewhere it just may not have been found yet.

I know exactly what you are going through. On August 28, 2009 my house was robbed. The bastard watched me leave my house at 9 AM, broke the window and stopped my washing machine. That is how I know he watched me leave, when you open the lid on the washing machine it stops. There was less than an inch of water in my machine. The bastard then unplugged everything in the house that made noise, ie: answering machine, fax machine, all the phones. Took everything. Went through everything.

The SOB even kicked my then 18 year old dog, so that he could barely walk. When we got home from the Water Park at 10 PM that night with my 7 year old daughter, we called the police, they were there within minutes. We had to wait for the K9 cop to come that took another hour or so.

This is what pisses me off, the investigator did not contact me until 6 days after we were robbed. Spoke with me for about 20 minutes and that was the last time I spoke with her. UNTIL......

About 4 months later my daughter was sick. I was taking her to the doctors, when she told me she was going to get sick. I pulled into the parking lot of this pawn shop. Got her out of the car and we went in and asked if they had paper towel or something to wipe her face. Right next to me was the SOB who robbed my house pawning my wedding set. I almost lost it. I went out in the parking lot and called the cops. I parked my car right behind the only other car in the parking lot. Popped up the hood and acted like something was wrong. Thank god it was his car I was parked behind. He came out and asked me to move the car. I said, "Hello, idiot, don't you think if I could move my car I would put down the hood and go." He looked under the hood, and that is where I got my satisfaction, I hopped on his back took his f'en head and started slamming it into the engine of the car. Beat the crap out of the guy, until the cops came and pulled me off him. The next day the investigator called me.

The SOB tried to sue me for assault, I ended up having to pay 75 dollars in fines and court fees, but this SOB got 27 to life for being his 4th felony burglary conviction. I can live with that I think.

I think what comes around goes around, Same Old. Hang in there.

All the best,
LH

So sorry about the car....but thank goodness that was all they wanted! You,Katherine and Ben are fine and that is what matters:thumbsup: Very nice townhouse...and a tidy profit for you too:thumbsup:

Love the house, it shows very well. Question for you is this. you said that you had open houses, any prior to this theft of your car? I am asking this as this happened to us also. The agent showed the home to agents and clients.
We also did the same thing left the spare keys hanging on rings by the doors.
Most of us always do, the only thing is that when they show your home you never know who the clients are looking into the house. So if you get a not so nice person that is looking for spare keys or where pricey merchandise is kept, this gives them a chance to get back into the home and take what they want.
One thing all sellers must do is hide all spare keys from site, clear off dressers as to not show where your valuables are shown. Also hide any pricey computers or gaming systems, just cover them up with coloured drop clothes.
Our issue had been taken care of it was due to another agent helping themself to whatever they wanted. I would also change the locks on your doors. I am sorry, I am not trying to scare you. Just want you and your family to be safe.

UPDATE:

I got a call at 1am last night from the police.

They found the car burnt to a crisp on the highway heading out of town, complete ride off.

They torched it to get ride of the prints etc they reckon. Oh Well, off to the insurance guys it is for me.

HI Lauram,

Nope, I didn't leave any of that sort of stuff out. The realestate lady actually told me to remove all that type of stuff prior so I was good to go in that area.

They broke into the house through a VERY small window.

Bad luck comes in threes and Ive had mine now- only good things from now on.

Regards,

Pete
