For reasons, we at Galewind have been discussing the default settings on our Slot games and on our Video Poker games.

(Note: If this question has previously been asked/answered on the Forum, then I would appreciate someone bringing that thread, or those threads, to my attention.)

When a Player first enters any of the Slot games, should they be set to:

  • The lowest coin amount, the lowest line count?
  • The lowest coin amount, the highest line count?
  • Something else?

When a Player first enters any of the Video Poker games, should they be set to:

  • The lowest coin amount, the lowest coin count?
  • The lowest coin amount, the highest coin count?
  • Something else?

If I knew how to set up a Poll, this might be a really good topic for such. But, I don't. So a thread will have to do.

Thank you all in advance for your input.

Chris

I vote for lowest coin/lowest line. Then if I hit the spin button without really paying attention, I'm not getting hit with max bet without meaning to.

Slots: Definitely lowest coin size, maximum lines.
VP: Don't play it much - so don't care much!

Setting up a poll is quite simple - it's one of the "Additional Options" in the box below the message text area.
Note: You ONLY get a poll option when starting a brand new thread, obviously!

I actually like it starting at 10c max lines... but min coins max lines is a good 2nd option :)

Lowest Coin, Max line... You actually don't want to hit spin on 1 line, 1 coin and hit the top award on line 2 :)

Nate

I was playing at MG once betting $1 on Santa Paws, down to the last 4 cents of my deposit, I bet 4 lines...hit the stupid feature. Retriggered...ouch. Won like $3 and was so disgusted I logged out and banged my head on the wall for awhile. When I regained conciousness I made another deposit, played a few other games, built up my balance a bit, went back to Santa Paws, hit spin, realized I was still on 4 lines @ a penny....got 5 whales on line 6.

You said it buddy. Players are more likely to adjust their coin size themselves than the number of lines. Once entering a slot they were sub-consciously press spin right away so is one' addiction. They will glance at the amount bet or the coin size but usually they wont care a damn on the number of lines save for a precious few. So for me its lowest coin/max lines.

The consensus on this issue was pretty clear:

  1. For Slot games, the game should load with the minimum payline bet amount, and the maximum payline count.
  2. For Video Poker games, the game should load with the minimum chip amount, and the maximum chip count.
We recently completed another project that arose from a Casinomeister thread suggestion that we needed to provide a larger variety of payline bet amounts for our Slots.

As part of that project, we also built into our Slot and Video Poker games both of the above suggestions. (And we added our Keno game for good measure.)

My thanks in advance for any future feedback. We really do appreciate the input.

What you have to remember here hun is the 5 whales on line 6 was theoretically the result of a no win spin, if the RNG Gods had decided a win was due for that spin they would have placed the whales on lines 1-2-3 or 4 ;).

FAO VWM, for Gods sake man get that new hard drive or do a fresh install of windows, your registry has more bugs than a tramps beard :p.

It has finally arrived. Flooding in Thailand lead to a world shortage and long delays. Unfortunately, the other drive on order for the data bay (D:) could not be sourced, so it is back to searching out a new supplier.

The next task is to install the new components, but make sure I don't lose any data or preloaded software licenses. I had this problem when reinstalling Windows on the budget PC. I lost MS Works, but luckily I had a CD for it and was able to install the version from this PC on the other one.

Unfortunately, the budget PC can't handle MGS very well, and I don't want to miss out on my promos if something goes wrong during the rebuild and reinstall that leads to it taking much longer than expected. I have replaced hard drives and RAM before, but this is the first time I have tackled what is effectively building a new PC from a motherboard and processor in a case.

Thanks, that actually makes me feel better!
