Nice, If I got from my town its like treeble that but I get lift to Northhampton and found the train for £7.50 each way, Now its the hotel, Evey where I looking its bring me up Hostels, I not sleeping in one of them or I just could not sleep and might aswell walk all night, But need somewhere near as waliking when had a beer is nether ending

I hear cells in the Police Station are cheap this time of year....
Breakfasts are a bit iffy though.
and free breaky Joker, Saying that I get my self arrested and get £80 fine but get night sleepand free breaky
Any chance you can point me in a raesonable price hotel or guest house near as after a few beers I do not want to be travelling to far as I get lost,
Arhh better idea I might ring my cousins up but its a wekday but I ring them any way
OK, if that's not your first choice the Strand Palace is cheapish at about 130 a night with brekky. Travelodge Covent Garden is OK if you don't mind a 10 minute walk down Long Acre to Leicester Square it's about £5 less than Strand Palace, which is nearer. Outside those 2 you're looking at a much further distance if you want cheaper, or costly if you want very near. I can do you a shop doorway in Soho for £50 including a MacDonald's breakfast muffin lolYes, drunk and disorderly could be cheapest, say 50-80 with breakfast thrown in.OK, if that's not your first choice the Strand Palace is cheapish at about 130 a night with brekky. We could all do with one of those!
I always get my hotels through Booking.com - you could look to see what they have.
But like Dunover said, it ain't going to be cheap anywhere near central London. However, remember the rip-off tube or taxi fares you might need to shell out if travelling in from further afield, not to mention the time & inconvenience...
I've booked one in Covent Garden - only 5 mins walk from the CM meeting: Cost me £139 but I'll win that back on the Blackjack table in the Hypodrome, just like I did the last two years...

So what happens on the night then? Do we have to have a special handshake to gain entry?

I thought it'd be a 5-minute jobbie by foot from London Bridge, although it appears to be a tad further than that. If anything, it looks like Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is right next to the venue, so the tube strikes may affect me after all, unless I'm mistaken and that's a duplicate Waxy's![]()

Just a heads-up there are no tubes trains on Tuesday 7 Feb as a strike is taking place that day. So when you get to London you'll need to try buses or taxis, and taxis will be rammed full and near-impossible to get as usual when tube is down. So do some homework and research some transport from you entry point to London i.e. say Waterloo or Kings X or Euston to your hotel, and then from your hotel to Leicester Square if you're too far to walk it.
Take a look at the photos in the below news articles if you're thinking of taxis or buses, from the last 1-day strike in January.
It's a bummer but there's no point in pretending it won't be a struggle to keep to any arrangements you had in mind for the MM. I'd say bring your map and walking boots.

just read it wrong doh
some are not striking

The small TSSA Union isn't now BUT
The ones that matter are though, the RMT is the drivers and ground level staff, they WILL be striking. It's a bit like having a car and the engine goes on strike along with the wheels. Then one starts working again but not the other....
"Members of the RMT will walk out for 16 hours from 18:00 GMT on 5 February, and then hold a 15-hour strike from 10:00 on 7 February.
A 24-hour strike by the RMT and TSSA earlier this month over the same issues led to much of the Tube network being shut.
BBC London transport correspondent Tom Edwards said the TSSA was the smaller of the two unions so the strike would still have a large impact."

Bleeding wanker tube drivers.
Reminds me of this:
WARNING: CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE!!!
I don't have to watch that to know what it is - London Underground to the Jam's 'Going Underground' was the first time I ever used Bluetooth phone-phone because a colleague had it on his phone at work about 12 years ago and I PMSL when I heard it...![]()
So im due to get off at Kings Cross ... and was going to hop on the tube from what I can see its around a 2 mile hike by foot to Leicester Square ....
How bad do you think the cabs will be ? I may leave earlier to be sure and just get wrecked on my own at Waxys until the rest arrive
I'm coming into Kings Cross/St Pancras too. As I said earlier in the thread the 73 and 390 buses go from stop R across the road from the Kings Cross station to Tottenham Court Road which isn't far to walk then. The other option is to get the overground from St Pancras to Thameslink and then walk up through Covent Garden. I may take this option and call in at The Lowlander on Drury Lane which does good Belgian beers (but not cheap!)
Not sure how the full the buses and overground will be, but mid afternoon should be ok. I arrive at St P at 2:15.
There's still time for the strike to be called off as the smaller union not striking may have an affect and they're meeting again at ACAS tomorrow I think.
Chris

Hi Casinomeister Forum,
Is the Meister Meet for invited members only?

Tube strikes allowing,.... Getting in that day from oop north, so as long as i MAKE it to hotel etc...

Im travelling from the bowels of Yorkshire , getting to London aint the problem (and they do have a bar in the virgin train )
but getting across London seems a nightmare. I have decided to walk the 2 miles or so. With at least 4 beer stops. I should be hanging
by the time I get to the venue![]()

That's one train that won't get de-laid
Ba dum tish![]()

I Assume you are getting into Kings X.
Word on the streets is that the circle line will be working, so IF you are staying anywhere near tower bridge, walk/cab/uber to FArringdon, and get on a congested tube there
That is my back up plan atm.. (I get into St Pancras, so same same.. And yes.. there is a BAR on board mine too)
Great news for the Meistermeet, the unions have called off their proposed Tube Strikes next week. No need to move the venue!
