I hear cells in the Police Station are cheap this time of year....:D

Breakfasts are a bit iffy though.

Just get tube to Leicester Square (Central Line) from where you get in at Euston m8. Hotels from 120-300 quid a night in Central London Strand Palace say.

Joker, Saying that I get my self arrested and get £80 fine but get night sleep :) and free breaky

Any chance you can point me in a raesonable price hotel or guest house near as after a few beers I do not want to be travelling to far as I get lost,

Arhh better idea I might ring my cousins up but its a wekday but I ring them any way

Yes, drunk and disorderly could be cheapest, say 50-80 with breakfast thrown in. :D OK, if that's not your first choice the Strand Palace is cheapish at about 130 a night with brekky. Travelodge Covent Garden is OK if you don't mind a 10 minute walk down Long Acre to Leicester Square it's about £5 less than Strand Palace, which is nearer. Outside those 2 you're looking at a much further distance if you want cheaper, or costly if you want very near. I can do you a shop doorway in Soho for £50 including a MacDonald's breakfast muffin lol

There is a hotel near huston station at about 60 notes, I been looking and every link brings me to hostel at like 12 squids than when page opens its over double, And we thought only affiliates lied :)

I any case I try as train fair is bargain and I have no end of family up them ends but its getting back to there place, I can get picked up and thats what I try and do,

I do want to come to meet you knobs  I be stupid to let down a free bevarge, I in contact with the boys now so hopefully they pick me up, I do not know what the plan is after but If nothing go on I walk into red light soho, I need a massage

I need a massage
We could all do with one of those!

I always get my hotels through Booking.com - you could look to see what they have.
But like Dunover said, it ain't going to be cheap anywhere near central London. However, remember the rip-off tube or taxi fares you might need to shell out if travelling in from further afield, not to mention the time & inconvenience...
I've booked one in Covent Garden - only 5 mins walk from the CM meeting: Cost me £139 but I'll win that back on the Blackjack table in the Hypodrome, just like I did the last two years...

Sweet, I have family all around but I want to not rely on them, I check booking and gave me bloody 6 bed 10 bed dorms. and the feking price shot up, Thats got to be aginst there own rules let alone UK feked up rules,

I know thats expensive but your expensive or mine may be lose change to others, If it is may be they can pay us :)

Only joking as ask no one for nothing in all my life, Not even a free spin from casino, But like you say taxi and shit will be dear and after a beer you not want to walk to far

So what happens on the night then? Do we have to have a special handshake to gain entry?

That + members are required to sign in with their username at a specially designated PC, whilst encircled by the other members

Just a heads-up there are no tubes trains on Tuesday 7 Feb as a strike is taking place that day. So when you get to London you'll need to try buses or taxis, and taxis will be rammed full and near-impossible to get as usual when tube is down. So do some homework and research some transport from you entry point to London i.e. say Waterloo or Kings X or Euston to your hotel, and then from your hotel to Leicester Square if you're too far to walk it.

Take a look at the photos in the below news articles if you're thinking of taxis or buses, from the last 1-day strike in January.

It's a bummer but there's no point in pretending it won't be a struggle to keep to any arrangements you had in mind for the MM. I'd say bring your map and walking boots.

I thought it'd be a 5-minute jobbie by foot from London Bridge, although it appears to be a tad further than that. If anything, it looks like Piccadilly Circus Tube Station is right next to the venue, so the tube strikes may affect me after all, unless I'm mistaken and that's a duplicate Waxy's

Depends which way you travel in from, PC is slightly nearer than LS tube and there is only one Waxy's.........

The walk is a nice part of it for me, quite a distance: I go from Victoria, up Buckingham Palace road (if Her Majesty's in, a quick break for tea and scones) then up the Mall, through Marble Arch into Trafalgar Square and I can either cut left to LS or go across the Traf. Square to Charing Cross road then down Long Acre to Covent Garden.

Thanks for the heads-up. They're still talking I think so there's a chance it may be called off, but better to be prepared. For anyone arriving at Kings Cross/St Pancras as I am, there'a the 73 or 390 bus from Stop R opposite the station every few minutes to Tottenham Court Road which is a short walk from Waxys.

Oh that sucks big time. Especially considering my hotel is near Paddington.

What a bunch of assholes> how are people supposed to get from town center to the ICE and back? There was a strike a few years ago that screwed things up, but this year the ICE is out in the docklands.

Obviously this strike starts already Sunday evening right before I arrive to the airport. I guess the Express train will go to Paddington but it seems like I'm in for a long walk from there to my hotel:rolleyes:

Typical me and timing. At least I'm near Waxy's on Tuesday.

just read it wrong doh

some are not striking

The small TSSA Union isn't now BUT

The ones that matter are though, the RMT is the drivers and ground level staff, they WILL be striking. It's a bit like having a car and the engine goes on strike along with the wheels. Then one starts working again but not the other....:)

"Members of the RMT will walk out for 16 hours from 18:00 GMT on 5 February, and then hold a 15-hour strike from 10:00 on 7 February.

A 24-hour strike by the RMT and TSSA earlier this month over the same issues led to much of the Tube network being shut.

BBC London transport correspondent Tom Edwards said the TSSA was the smaller of the two unions so the strike would still have a large impact."

Well, I was happy for two hours!

It's 6 days left so there is still hope.

So im due to get off at Kings Cross ... and was going to hop on the tube from what I can see its around a 2 mile hike by foot to Leicester Square ....

How bad do you think the cabs will be ? I may leave earlier to be sure and just get wrecked on my own at Waxys until the rest arrive

Have changed my ticket im in London at 12.50pm so plenty of time to get there. Anyone between Kings Cross and the venue who wants to meet up before hand just pm me

Really looking forward to this - finally my first Meister meet ( 8 years late )

Bleeding wanker tube drivers.

Reminds me of this:

WARNING: CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE!!!

I don't have to watch that to know what it is - London Underground to the Jam's 'Going Underground' was the first time I ever used Bluetooth phone-phone because a colleague had it on his phone at work about 12 years ago and I PMSL when I heard it...:eek:

I'm coming into Kings Cross/St Pancras too. As I said earlier in the thread the 73 and 390 buses go from stop R across the road from the Kings Cross station to Tottenham Court Road which isn't far to walk then. The other option is to get the overground from St Pancras to City Thameslink and then walk up through Covent Garden. I may take this option and call in at The Lowlander on Drury Lane which does good Belgian beers (but not cheap!)

Not sure how the full the buses and overground will be, but mid afternoon should be ok. I arrive at St P at 2:15.

There's still time for the strike to be called off as the smaller union not striking may have an affect and they're meeting again at ACAS tomorrow I think.

I have never been to a meister meeting but will be at the ICE show. What takes place at a Meister meeting?

Thanks,

Orgiastic sex, drunken brawling, gambling shouting and swearing. Best 3 hours of your life...:D ;)

Tube strikes allowing,.... Getting in that day from oop north, so as long as i MAKE it to hotel etc...

Im travelling from the bowels of Yorkshire , getting to London aint the problem (and they do have a bar in the virgin train )
but getting across London seems a nightmare. I have decided to walk the 2 miles or so. With at least 4 beer stops. I should be hanging
by the time I get to the venue

I Assume you are getting into Kings X.

Word on the streets is that the circle line will be working, so IF you are staying anywhere near tower bridge, walk/cab/uber to FArringdon, and get on a congested tube there

That is my back up plan atm.. (I get into St Pancras, so same same.. And yes.. there is a BAR on board mine too)
