May I ask for a bit of support here?

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer few days ago. Stage IV, inoperable because of the affected area. He wasn't diagnosed early, because medicine sucks in Belarus. He's about to find out how painful chemotherapy is.

Well, it was not unexpected, because he has been smoking at least 20 sigs a day for the last 40 years. But it's hard to accept anyway. We (I mean - our family) are trying to support him, keep him strong and not to fall into depression.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Viktar.

I am so sorry to hear this Viktar. I do hope the chemo will stop or slow the progress of the disease.

I hate cancer. It is an insidious monster that has attacked each and every person nearest and dearest to me.

I am very very sorry to hear this.

I know you and yours will find the strength to weather this battle. I don't have much to offer other than I'm always willing to listen. Rant, rage, cry, you'll need to do all of it.

And here you can do it 24/7, and know that someone is listening, or will be reading soon.

Slot Monster, I am truly sorry to hear of this terrible disease that has afflicted itself on your father. You and your family will need to show signs of strength to get you through this tough time. I can relate to the anger and sorrow you are feeling. My Dad had bladder cancer which he succumbed to in June 2010. I wish I knew something comforting to say, but I do not.... So sorry.....

I am so sorry about your dad.
I am sending good thoughts and prayers to You & the Family.
The Chemo today is way better than years ago.
This should knock it out.
Please update us on his progress.
Just take day by day & hope for the best.
Cancer Sucks.

Cancer sucks. I am sorry to hear of your father's illness and the stress for you and your family. Sending good thoughts from afar.

Just be there for him as much as you can. He will know that.

I lost my mother to this awful disease, but treatments have advanced considerably, so don't give up hope.

It's important that your Dad knows that he has the support of the family and is never alone in his fight.

Good luck - and best wishes to your Dad.

Sorry Vik.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Cancer is evil and takes a toll on the entire family not just the patient. Just stay strong for your dad and stay positive.

If you need someone to talk to please feel free to email me..you know where to find me.

Lots of love Viktar,

Josephine

Удачи тебе и твоему отцу, хотя с таким конечно тяжело столкнуться, даже страшно что-ли... Медицина у нас реально не ахти какая, как и многое другое впрочем...
Wish SM and his father best of luck, and also told that medicine and few other things in Belarus suck.

Sorry to hear that Viktar.
Cancer is the most evil beast, and it touches us all at some point, in one way or another.
Hope you and your family are able to support your dad, and eachother.
Whatever you do, don't give up hope.

Prayers for your father and your family. I lost my dad to cancer two months ago. He was diagnosed on Jan. 2, 2012. He had Stage IV lung cancer that had already metastasized to the bone. He had radiation, not to cure the cancer, but to help with the pain. I can say my father lived longer than he was given and he did everything he wanted to do clear up to the end. He was given the option to try chemo but he chose not too. What I saw them do with my father was amazing. Today things are so much more advanced than what they use to be.

Cancer is a terrible nasty disease but with your support and your family's support your father can overcome with treatment. Be there for him and supply his every need and you'll be blessed having done it.

My heart goes out to you Viktar - I hope the treatment works. My prayers are with your father.

My father-in-law was lucky enough to survive his throat cancer about 10 years ago and is still going strong.
Unfortunately my own father lost his battle with the dreaded "C" just 4 days after my Zoe was born - the day after this photo was taken...

Prayers too.

There are no words for comfort. Just know that we are praying, wishing and guiding comfort and peace through every day.

Spend as much time and say all the things that you want to and have no regrets.

Be there and please say all the things that you wouldn't say if they were healthy...meaning no holds...say how much you love...remember and say all the great memories and just be there.

So sorry, Viktar.

Life is too short.

.

the chemoterapy can put your father better
but
that´s not enough

your father will need you

you can´t be negative, you must be allways with smile on your face, to give him strong to survive

after he makes the chemo, he will be sleeping almost 24 hours, in 2nd he will be a bit tired yet, and thats when he needs you
when he feels like tired you must be with him, give him all the strength you can to make him strong

think like this:
your father don´t want to view you sad, so if you show in front of him that your are sad, he will stay sad too and lose forces.
so to give him forces you must be happinness in front of him, you must say to him "see? the chemo was nothing of special, its a usual treatment that you will do a few more times, and after that you will be 100% better"

and give him a hug

any other help you need contact here or by PM

My thoughts are with you Viktar. I have been in your shoes.

My mother died at age 39 thanks to lung cancer, yet her two brothers whom smoke like chimneys are still thriving in their late 60s' 26 years later.

It's a tough road and hope you take the time to enjoy the quality moments you can have with your Dad.(((HUGS)))

Thank you for your help and support. Much needed for me.
We are still going through all the procedures to find the best way to fight against it.

.

So sorry to hear about your father Viktar.

Life can sometimes be both difficult and hard, but you have all of our support. Stay strong.

Viktar, I'm very sorry to hear this. You and your family have been added to my prayers. As others have already said, keep strong.
