I was thinking about the same many times and still haven't found any logical explanation to it. And reading about many misclicks and even experiencing it myself gives me the only one reason: you must lose your money at casino as fast as you possible, and any interface option of game window should be helping you with this.
But there could be another side of the medal: if you press "Bet Max" and get Bonus Game or Free Spins in the very first spin - you can win a substantial amount of money! Just imagine how much I would have won (or I could have won), if got 15 Free Spins with $140 bet!

Once while playing Double Double Jackpot video poker I was betting $10.00 per hand in the $5.00 mode. Each hand I had to click (bet one twice) to risk only $10.00. While doing this I automatically clicked max bet, only to see 4 jacks show up with a chance to draw for Q to A for double the win of 2k to 4k. Didn't draw the Q to A, but was happy about the mis-click netting additional $1200.00.

Depends, when playing Rival slots probably around 20-30 bucks..

Misclicked several times myself, never got lucky, only dead spins and half of my remaining balance gone..

That's putting it mildly....if you check the "screenshots that suck" section you'll see plenty of Rival screenies. They can really pay out too though. Just not very often. I do kinda miss playing though.
