It's been a great run. From 2019 till today I've slotted and enjoyed every moment, until I didn't. Started a couple years ago when the UKGA got involved. Some good recommendations implemented, auto spins regulated and total bet amount spent per slot displayed were good for my excess's. Didn't mind that, was happy they were interested in my welfare.

And then..... the slot providers got involved. Panic in the boardrooms, profits down 2%. Answer, lower the RPG. How much, well whatever the market will bare. For sure the standard 97% was out. Let's go 94 - 95% see what happens. And... it worked, we still played. Didn't win as much, didn't see any 100X bonus's, lots of new games though.

I stuck with it, looking for the buzz again but only buzz was only my bank account diminishing. No saving wins, no miracles just a steady dripping negative balance level. Hey, I watched the YouTube videos, saw Ayzee and his ilk buying $250,000 bonus rounds and winnings millions. Saw it with my own eyes, didn't seem to effect them. Sure effected me though, was trying to re-create my big wins. $5000.00 on a 40 pence bet, $3700 on another 40 pence bet in the glory days of 2019. Was the wild west of online slots and I enjoyed every moment.

Then, poof, gone.

I promise to lurk on Casinomeister, congratulate any winners and commiserate with us losers. But, I'm out of here.

Good luck all, loved the chat.

Best wishes and happy trails to you @hughdal , good man for packing it in when you know it’s time to move on. Don’t know about you but some of the best decisions of my life have been knowing when to quit.

@hughdal fairwell. Sorry to hear your story.

It’s a familiar tail sadly. Not only the reduction in RTPs, but also the predatory nature of slots too. Before 2019 I don’t recall bonus buys being all that common. In 2024 you are pushed to find any new slot without one. Then there is gamble the feature you just purchased, the list goes on.

Maximum extraction of funds from players, who are oblivious to all the tricks being pulled. It used to be the maths, now it’s a cascade of tactics to empty your wallet.

I fully understand. I recently stopped all playing for pretty much the same reasons - over-regulation, boredom and impending RTP reductions. I don't mind paying £1 for a bag of 96 M&Ms, but paying £1 for 72 or 48 in the same bag, nah....

All the best @hughdal. And massive respect for having the sense to say "enough" and just walk away.
I fully echo @maxd's sentiments re: best life decisions as a result of quitting something.
I am 100% convinced my decision to quit smoking (some 15 years ago) is the only reason I am still alive today.

I don't think I am that far behind you in terms of hanging up my slotting boots tbh.
So much of your post seems to perfectly sum up "where I'm at" with slotting right now.
I am just trying to find the will (if that is the right word) to say "enough" myself.

Take care of yourself mate.

Well I'm back. My "quit forever" lasted 40 days given a bet or two.

Gambling is an addiction unlike no other.

I quit smoking 5 months ago, doing great, thank you.
I drink, but not to excess. Well OK, sometimes one more.

But, I can't quit gambling.

My dopamine hit works back to front, I get the hit when I lose, not when I win. I missed that so I came back.

And now I'm winning, kind of. Down to maximum £.30 a bet. Testing the waters, no gamble, smart slotting if that's possible. Back with my old friend the spin.

Poker Stars punished my leaving, oh yes they did. No extra free spins, no roads to riches. My few free spins paid £.06 on a win. They knew I was trying to leave them and they wanted me back. Maybe that's why I'm winning now if you believe in AI and conspiracy theories (I do because I can't blame myself).

Nice to be back with the Meister again, costs nothing and lot's of honest support.

Best wishes buddy and welcome back, but please make sure you’ve got limits in place etc wherever you play. I have and it helps a lot.

In the good old days of regular 100% matches e.g Everymatrix casinos I always did them on a Friday as most of the time that's when they did them, around 2012 - 2017 ish and I would be do anywhere from £1 - £3 a spin in the last couple of years I am now at .20 or .30 the most I go is like .75 and it's not that often because of how bad it is now, and I barely play anywhere near like in those days, the good days are gone now you know where it felt like you had a mixture of wins and losses now it's like 95% one way now, you might as well set fire to you money and get it over with.

I remember doing £2 spins back in the day when WMS launched their slots online. Never batted an eye and got plenty of game time for the money off a £200 deposit.

Now down to 40p and getting barely an hour. Not a conscious decision to lower stakes, more of an unconscious reaction!
