Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dead at 87

No point singling out reporters or why they did it, we know the sensibilities of some and so have come to expect them to make full use of the report function, as is their right.

Whether I agree with it or not counts for nothing, it is what it is and doesn't look like it'll be reversed this time

Oh please. He has had long history of saying many stupid stuff which clearly offends different groups...whether it's transgenders, muslims, refugees and now women too. There's always one thing after another. He just doesn't learn no matter how many opportunities he gets.

If sinking refugee ships is making an effort then he's just not worth it. He'd need a full-time babysitter.

I can not comment on any of that. His comments are just his way of expressing how he feels IMO. I honestly believe he is a decent fellow and just add to some of the comments of others. I am not trying to defend anything he has done, just this doesn't seem right to me. I often do not like to debate or stir trouble but i will stand firm on how I feel. As I said above I read the comment and I personally did not see the offense in it. I have said my piece and it is up to CM to do whatever they see fit. If anyone wants to report my post feel free to do so. It would seem the report button could be put to better use reporting real offenses. ( I won't reply again so also feel free to quote away) .

I can imagine a few women got their knickers in a twist and hit the report button.

Wrong, the reports were from men. As SRV said, "preconception is such a heavy load."

Genuine question, for what? How was the comment offensive?
I would imagine one or two members watch every post Playford made and looked for anything to report. Probably the fact they have reported that as well as every other post makes it look worse.

Pretty sure if he had been talking about wildlife and said a panda is black and white someone would just see the word black and report it as a racist remark.

I wouldn't worry too much about that if I were you. Playford worked long and hard for his escort off the premises. Few people have had as many 2nd chances as he managed to collect.

He didn't need to work 'long and hard' as there are a clique of the usual suspects just waiting for the chance to report everything and anything. It's those exact people who are taking over the forum and making it like a playground for juveniles!

... there are a clique of the usual suspects just waiting for the chance to report everything and anything. ...

Really? Well I receive those Reports and I've seen no such thing.

As to Playford's track record I can tell you that 80% or more of the Infractions etc that he received were because of what we saw or discovered he'd done on the forums as opposed to what was Reported. Whether you choose to accept it or not he's been a thorn in our collective moderators butts for far too long. I'm sure he'll be happier elsewhere.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. Perhaps it's a glass-half-full-glass-half-empty thing. Either way, the forums are what you make them.

That's it. I have given you enough passes, enough babysitting, and enough warnings about your behavior here. This forum is not your private circus. This forum is here to support players with their issues with online casinos, provide pertinent information about online casinos, the industry, webmaster affiliation casino games, slots, etc., etc. etc.,. This forum is here to solve problems and assist folks when needed. Casinomeister's forum is the largest and strongest community of players and webmasters out there, and your lack of self control has just done my nut in.

Adios and happy trails. There are other forums that will gladly open their arms to your posting style. This is not one of them.

This was a disappointing decision Bryan. Of course it's yours to make, but I'd like to voice my take on this anyway.

The following is my personal opinion and I respect Bryan and his decision regardless. I just need to say this.

I've defended Ben on more than one occasion and this is coming from someone who has a very different view on many things in life. I've seen some of his views as the other side of the coin, not usually voiced out in the best way, but valuable contribution in any case.

There are members here of whom I'm not the greatest fan myself (and I'm sure the feeling is mutual). But it doesn't mean that I'd like to see them gone or stop posting. Quite the opposite actually. We're mostly reacting to posts anyway and not to a person in a setting like this.

Different views is the salt what makes being a member of a community like this worth the time spent here.

And I've said this before. There are, and have been, people here who get away with worse than what Ben was banned for. I understand that the decision was probably done based on his history here, and this might just been the last straw. Regardless of that, this just doesn't feel right to me.

I strongly believe a lot of posts and posters can be set straight (for the lack of a better term) by the natural flow of a thread rather than banning members. I guess some disagree with me on this one.

It looks like this is a permanent ban. If so, sayonara Ben and all the best to you. It was nice to meet you here and if we ever meet in person, the beer's on me.

You can have different views and express them nicely. Or you can have different views and express them offensively - this is a risk at any time, but when you're on your nth final warning, it's a gamble as to whether you'll survive.

(I didn't report, for the record.)

How was it offensive though?

Not a single person has posted they found it offensive, it's a shame the people who took the time to report it couldn't actually explain what they found offensive in case anyone ever offends them again.

And get stomped on by some of those who were/are Ben fans? Why would they?

Like it or not the fault line between Ben and his antics and those who found them offensive and/or destructive to the forum vibe runs pretty deep. I haven't seen a lot of forum love attempting to bridge that divide so it's probably best to recognize it for what it is and leave it at that. Ben is gone, time will tell whether that was the right decision or not.

Personally I didnt find it offensive, I say worse to the women around me but only because I have known them for years and know where the line that cant be crossed is drawn, but I do see how it could be viewed as a misogynistic comment.
As most posters have said, its not a particularly offensive comment but in the overall context has this been the one that sent some over the edge? I dont know.
FTR I have only reported one poster since ive been at CM, and it was on the statues thread when one poster posted several overtly racist posts and said everyone was reading them in the wrong way. My mantra is live and let live, if i dont agree with you i get on with things and if i have a problem with what people post the ignore button can be used at any time.

I think we are looking at it different ways. I know Ben's previous and if his comment was against the forum rules, then I don't have an argument against that.

However, it does look, from the oustide, like one or two people have reported his post for no real reason, I honestly don't understand what was offensive about his comment, and nor do others from the looks of it.

Regarding why would people post why they complained, why wouldn't they? It's an online forum, it's not like they are going to get a punch in the face for expressing their opinion. I rarely make reports, as you know, but when it is, it's when someone has stepped massively over the line, or spam etc. If I do report someone though, if they asked in the thread who it was and why, I would tell them no problem.

They don't even need to say they reported it, just why they think it's offensive.

That's just the thing, a lot of people have a much lower tolerance for confrontational insults and belittling than others do. I believe "snowflake" is the popular term being used these days and if they find that as crass and humourless as I do then I perfectly understand why they don't stand up for whatever abuse is on offer. To them it is (or can be) a punch in the face and who needs that when they've simply come here to discuss a common interest?

I totally understand that you and others may have a different perspective on this but it is what it is and people have to make their own choices on these things. Some chose not to be punching bags and I totally understand that too.

I am all for 'stand up and be counted' and personally I would have more respect for anyone who was transparent opposed to going behind anyone's back - it's those that make the forum hostile (imo) and make a divide and conquer stance amongst members but then that's me and I understand my opinion counts for very little.

I reported Ben, now a days you can't say anything anymore... at all! Because every single comment or opinion these days is offensive. It is defintely not the right tone of voice in a topic like this.

^the above was a joke of course. I would never report anybody anyway. As a rep you should have a thick skin in general. Never had any issues with Ben. During PMs he is always friendly and open.

What I do find as a trend lately, is that there is a problem with open speech in general. These days you need to think 2 or 3 times before putting something out there. I truly believe that becomes a bit scary. Any person using a lot of humor (in their way) and sarcasm in their communication is going to have a hard time in the future, and that includes me as well.

Seems harsh. Despite the fact i very rarely contribute here and just lurk i think it's a little unjust. Forums are generally for help, advice and healthy debate. Mr Playford may have been a straight talker but all of us are from different walks of life and it seems the "snowflakes" may have targeted him and played to the establishments sense of being a diverse platform.
Oh, and i'm sure most would agree that people who are 'offended' don't wake up the following morning with leprosy. If you've been offended, deal with it as this is a place of differing opinions and not all will be the same as yours.
