Jaffa cake scandal

Was not to pleased the other day when bought some jaffa cakes (McVitie's) I went it a new department store B&M that's just open in my town, Sell anythink from sweets, Bed, Beer,

I bought some Jaffa's and later that day I went to have some, When I opened the packet I was shocked, Instead of the usual 12 stacked up, There was bloddy 9, The cheeky fuckers had used the same size box and that but instead of stacking them all up they stacked only 3 up, of 3 rows, Thats a 25% loss, Or if some casino's was writing this it would be a 50% loss as bought 2 packets, I know its not really a 50% loss as bought 2 just thought I add that after seeing that some rouges do this and this is exactly what this was,

Anyway back to the jaffas, you sure you weren't stoned and ate 3 on way home lol. Guess somebody in mcvities couldn't be arsed that day and just put anything in the box. Complain to them you might get some free jaffas.

I love them and when I buy them I eat the whole lot in one go so would be pissed if there were some missing.

Noo LoL, they was a genuine 9 pack sealed, I guess they do this as sell stuff cheaper, Like cereal you get less, & the big packs of jelly beans and that are actually smaller size, So in reality your not getting things as cheap as you thought,

Yes and they are nice, but I prefer a 12 box any day of the week than a 9

It's a bit cheeky indeed, but not too uncommon for brands to make the product look and cost the same, yet either changing the amount of products in the package, or even change the amount of ingredients in a product. The latter is the worst i.m.o. but it both sucks when you don't expect it.. Of course i can imagine why after such alterations, most of the brands don't feel like including the message "now with 25% less!" or "now only 10% cacao-butter, but 100% more sugar!" etc., however i do feel that they should do just that.

I am not quite familiar with the laws of false advertising, and/or changing of amounts and ingredients within an edible product, but i am sure there are plenty loopholes for the brands, or this wouldn't happen. And it happens a lot. My favorite chocolates/toffees from England are Quality Street, and over the years they kept the package pretty much the same size, but have definitely decreased the amounts of candy in there.. bit of a bummer, but as long as they don't mess with the recipe i'll still buy them, that is, until i find only one little fella in the box

UPDATE::: Today I go my local tesco and buy a pack of jaffa's, Than go to B&M to buy the rip of version so I can actually show you guys, Unfortunately they did not have them there except a double pack which actually was 2x12, So could not buy and show, But just sorting my camera out and found the picture I took the other day,

just look at all the Kellog's cereal packs, the box is the same size but half empty nowadays

coke cans... here in thailand they introduced the "sleek can" in the past years, looks a little like a red bull can and with it the contents was reduced from 333ml to 310 or even 300 ml....

.... this is a hidden price increase tactic widely used by many big corporations as they can get away with it.

Your absolute right, Look at the crisp packets, Big bag than you go to have a crunch and nothing but crumbs, They rekon its due to making sure they stay at there freshest

The chocolate bars are getting smaller & lighter. I have just cooked some birds eye burgers up and they shrunk to about a size of a finger nail,

Its a well known tactic for the cheaper shops such as the (£) pound store to have things in reduced size, You are paying a bit less but actually getting less, Shit roll (toilet tissue) is another, You buy a pack of 9 and you get bugger all on um, Surley they could of rolled them tighter and had 2 rolls the same size as on 9, No they not do this as it will look like we get less, So much for super markets cutting down on packaging

Back to the Jaffa's. You should complain, I once bought a bag of Revels and complained how many were Maltesers and that they shouldn't be in there in the first place as they are a sweet in their own right....was sent £20 worth of chocolate vouchers!

A popular scam. Mars Bar used to be 60g. Crisps 32 now 27 or 28.
Your Xmas tins of Roses/Quality St/Celebrations were 1kg, then 950g then 875g and last year down to 850g.

There are numerous other examples.

It's not working though, as as a nation we are apparently getting fatter than ever.

I went in McBenefits yesterday and am pleased to say their portions are still the same.

spintee have you informed the jaffa about the loss of your jaffas in you purchasing your jaffas & being three jaffas short , i would think that the jaffa in question really is a jaffa considering he's just jaffaed you by three jaffas , i strongly suggest you get hold of mr jaffa & show him who the real jaffa is , failing this jaffa you could always forward it to the head jaffa & try to get your well purchased three jaffas back all in all you read the terms of the jaffa box so you don't lose out on three jaffas next time )

In relation to the Xmas tinned sweets (Roses, Quality Street etc) as mentioned They don't even TRY to cover the 'smaller portion' fact anymore and have taken an extra money making step on top.

Walked into my local Morrison's the other day and they are stacked almost roof high 'Great Value only £5' 'When they're gone they're gone' and all the usual bullshit aimed to confuse customers.

The only thing that caught my eye was the fact that these 'Big Tins' are now fucking tapered at the bottom of the tin, I mean how f'kin blatant and tight can you get.

My daughter also offered me her 'Refresher' chew from her mixed bag of sweets. Only comment I could make which seemed to confuse her was 'Fuck me whatever next, they were quadruple that size when I was you age'

a 5p chew ffs, they'll be putting one less sheet on a bog roll soon and one less 'squirt' in a bottle of Fairy
