islamist extremists

Well, I disagree with any act of violence against people for their beliefs whether politically or religiously or their choice of lifestyles. But if we're talking about domestic violence, I can stay out of my neighbour's living room. I can avoid most gang violence by my choice of areas to frequent and when I frequent them. I can avoid bar room brawls and other confrontations quite easily but I can't just hide in my house for fear that someone might blow up a random subway station because someone I don't even know drew a cartoon.

Terrorism is a cowardly way to wage a war without directly confronting an enemy. It targets innocent people most of which probably don't care what your religious beliefs are. Religious fanatics who perform acts of terror have no desire for peace. They have one belief and one goal for anyone who doesn't share it. Convert or die. They're not the first fanatics to follow this religious path. People have suffered this at the hands of other religions for centuries.

Lol, it can happen in ANYone's living room, not just other people's. You can get mugged in broad daylight on a popular busy street. You don't have to start a bar room brawl or be the initial target to have it leak out onto the street. True, you can't just hide in the house for fear of a blown up subway. God knows any local with an axe to grind and a tweak in his head can strap on a bomb.

This is why I don't belong to any religion and refused to raise my child in one. He turned out so much better by not being fed a weekly dose of hating some other group.

You're actually comparing fanatical religious acts of terrorism to a mugging?

Here Here!!!!

I could not agree with you more. There are those of who care, who vote, who really look at the issues unlike any of our government making those decisions for us. But until Americans stand up and stop being a bunch of panty waist and say enough it will continue. We give Egypt $280 billion each year and they didn't have the balls to back us after the embassy incident in Libya. And as for those burning our flags etc. Take the $$$$$ away and we will see how things change. Also, when a barrel of oil goes up so does an pound of wheat. We are the main exporter of food in the world. Let em strave, they will rethink.

I used to be sympathic etc. until I was on a plane on 911 and from that day on, respect is earned not given.

religion is political, faith is internal

This is why I don't belong to any religion and refused to raise my child in one. He turned out so much better by not being fed a weekly dose of hating some other group.

I was reared in church and so my children, we were not taught to hate anyone....If you can teach ur children how to separate the two that's the difference. But there are just some people who tact doesn't connect. Sometimes u have to build a fire under a jackass to get him to move.

So..starve a nation because of a handful of zealots? Yeah, that's practical. Let's burn ALL chruches for a few zealots, discontinue the education system because of the few illiterates, and gas all the jaywalkers for the handful of rapists. Awesome idea

By YOUR logic you're penalizing the many for the few. Hey, I heard there was a prominently African American gang attack? Should we round them ALL up, teach 'em a lesson? Some footballer fans rioted at a stadium; let's not let ANYONE in to watch the game. You're targeting a group that you have no knowledge that oh, say, wheat is going to. Some protesters in Times Square burnt some flags. Sorry New Yorkers, off to the tanty for the lot of ya

They are starving themselves. Giving them money is encouraging the system in which they are starving. By your logic, if I don't buy you food, I'm the one starving you. How about no.

So, by this logic, since the US owes us (Canada), to about the tune of 90 billion $, we should collect. After all, we're merely encouraging a system in which they cannot support themselves financially. After all, if we let them borrow money, we're enabling their problems. No?

Penalizing? Oh that's right, they are entitled to my tax money. I tend to forget.

Sorry, were you saving it to guarantee prisoners 5 squares a day? Besides, you aren't allocating the taxes, it doesn't work that way. It's put forth into quite a lot of different services we quite likely don't agree with. Saying YOUR taxes fund Muslim regions is probalby quite unlikely, as it could be Bob's who's pro to the idea and his goes there, while YOURS made a an inch chunk of highway or made a $300 hammer.

The middle east can live without wheat.

The west cannot live without oil.

What did you want Egypt to do? Turn back time?

IMO both of your arguments are just as extreme as the extremists.

What do you mean? Who are "they" and what "tax money" specifically?

The middle east can live without wheat.

Now I'm glad to hear that. Finally some good news.

The west cannot live without oil.

Then I guess it's a good thing that we, Canadians, sit on the 3rd biggest oil reserve in the world.

What do you mean? Who are "they" and what "tax money" specifically?

"They" in this case were a reference to the middle east in general. The tax money is what the Canadian government takes from my paycheck and uses on said middle east (ie: troops in Afghanistan, food in Egypt, etc).

I was raised attending church and Sunday school every week. I was lucky to have great parents and some individuals in religion are also great. But the messages sent out by organized religion are toxic and history has proven that. I just knew there was no way I could raise my child to hear such things from any religion.

During the eighties when we were deciding to have a child I witnessed some of the most hateful things said about gay people and AIDS and it came from religious groups. During the eighties and nineties the so called moral majority were just as hateful as these Jihadists. They are still launching attacks against gay people, women, and anyone not a "true American" in their view.

I am thankful to live in a country where they could not legally commit physical violence. I am also thankful to the founding fathers in trying to keep religion and government separate. I feel sorry for any rational people who live in countries ruled by Sharia. They must live in constant fear of the madness around them.

Anyone ever actually sat down and thought about why 3% of Muslims are extremists?, i`ll give you some pointers............

The Geneva Convention has many protocols, breaking them makes the country responsible liable to war crimes........................

No, I do not agree with religious fundamentalists, but I disagree with paedophile rape and the use of illegal radioactive products a whole lot more.

I couldn't give a toss why any Muslim is an extremist.

The people they kill and maim are almost ALWAYS those who are NOT responsible for any "offence against the profit....oops I mean prophet". It's like the next door neighbour killing your dog, and you travelling to another country and killing 10 other dogs belonging to random people in retaliation.

NOTHING that these uneducated cavemen do is justified under ANY circumstances.

IMO bringing things like paedophilia and rape into the conversation is like saying that we have no right to complain about what THEY do because people in OUR country also do horrible things. It really is apples and oranges, and it detracts from the plain fact that these halfwits are happy to blow themselves and thousands of other people up on the say-so of some cleric with an agenda. Ever notice how it is never the clerics or the leaders of the religion that wear the strap-on bombs? Funny thing that eh?

Islamic fundamentalism has nothing to do with religion for those who run the show. It is merely a tool to control the uneducated and mostly poor masses. Saddam Hussein wasn't religious at all, but he sure invoked the "jihad" bullshit whenever it suited him, and I'm sure he is not the only one of his kind. The only way you can usurp and retain any sort of power in Muslim countries (since it is rarely the people's choice) is to be seen as the "defender of the faith", even if you don't really believe most of it. You would have no hope running for office on the platform of "well I'm not really a fan of the whole Islam/Koran thing but I have some great ideas for this country's future".

I know you are passionate about conspiracy theories etc Roy, and I admire that and the information you dig up, but I really don't think this topic has anything to do with cover-ups or government secret plans or the new world order. It is about groups of street thugs hiding behind the koran and using the poorest and most uneducated people in the world to do their dirty work....they don't want everyone to convert to Islam and follow them because Allah is the best god there is or because it will be really good for them, they just want POWER and CONTROL, and the Islamic world has a plethora of "expendable beings" just waiting to help make it happen.

it's comparable to the bar fight you brought up

My point was I can avoid a mugging most of the time by not wandering down a back alley at 1 am.

Most people can't avoid a random bombing by some terrorist group by not getting on a subway and heading off to work.

Dang, wish someone told the muggers they're supposed to stick to back alleys. I've been mugged on a bus, on the street during the day and on a cruise ship. Silly muggers; must not have gotten the memos ;)

I've never been mugged. I've never been in a fight in a bar. I've never been in any kind of physical confrontation in my home. Maybe now that you've moved you'll stop getting beaten up and having your wallet stolen.

Best of luck to you. :)
