I classify this as a bad beat

Its like I was playing a dollar tourney.

These hands are bad beats YES, but not very rough ones. In the second one you are only leading ~60/40 pre-flop so the opponent will win that confrontation 4 times out of 10.


However, you asked if you played bad yourself also and the answer to that is also YES.

K2 offsuit is not a hand you want to play at all in a full (7-10 handed) table.

Also your open all-in in in hand 2 is overaggressive - you still have over 20 big blinds left in your stack so there is no need to open push your whole stack preflop all-in.


I'd suggest you to learn a bit more basics of the game if you want to make profit at $11 buy-in tournament level in the future. You know, it's always more nice to finish top3 regularly than bottom3.

Then you must know that regardless of your hand in a 3000, 4000 person buy in that you will lose unless you play.

Not rough?

A 5% river shot is rough.

I just got put out of another one where I was called by a 3,4 offsuit and it made a full house.

How do you call all in with a 3, 4 and win unless you feel indestructable.

How do you call all in with an inside straight draw unless you feel luck is on your side.

Like tammyjean1 from malta who is currently 40th and going on to big money after miracle wins.

I watched the tourney and am currently watching it. Its unreal at the seemingly losing hands that win.

Just my 2 cents, but online gambling is seeming less and less appealing.

Too risky for my recession dollars.

The tourneys that are less than $10 are over run by everyone going all in almost every hand.


I apologize if I seem rude, but I am playing these constantly and I haven't lost much except to the huge multi table tourneys. I play very well in the single tables and I invite you to play me in a reasonable buy in if you think it is my skills that are lacking.

Should I play single tables constantly, because that is where I do win by finishing top 3. More than not.

Avoid the tourneys is the suggestion?

Catrina, I agree with NextToYou. In the first hand, I wouldn't have got involved in the first place with K2o. OK, a skilled LAG might get away with it, but I'm not one and I don't think you are too. Then on the flop, I would suggest that is a call or a fold depending upon your read of the opponent. I don't think you can go all in with top pair+no kicker here!

The second hand looks like tilt. You can't normally call all-in with A5o. So that's not a bad beat as you only have yourself to blame really. (sorry). In these all-in situations, there's really no huge advantage of one hand over another except for big pairs over small pairs.

If you want to play MTT's, maybe you should tighten-up a little, at least at the beginning of the tournament and thereby avoid the donkfest hands unless you have a very good hand. Then when you have a good hand, play it hard to deter the fish from drawing-out on you. You can still play speculative hands early from late position if you can play them cheaply, but if you don't hit better than top pair, then be patient and get out if there's heat.

If the table's playing loose, then you will gain by playing tighter & v.v.

Hey cat nice to see more of these donkfests As allready stated k2 is an instant muck,And yep hand two you can see its complete tilt But there are no badbeats there at all. You got outdrawn and thats it cat. A badbeat is say you have 66 and flop is 699 turn 2 river 10 and they turn over 1010 lol Theres so many combos of badbeats,A badbeat is classed as a monster hand geting outdrawn tho, Your 1st hand has happened to me at least 10 times today alone. But not holding k2 lol . I am also going to start puting hand historys up. You will learn cat Gl on tables (you need it with them donkfests)

I play higher buy-in games, because I earn more absolute money through them. If I'd have to achieve as high ROI as possible (return on investment), I'd play those lower buy-in tournaments though, because as you said, the level of play in those is much worse. I don't play much tournaments at all though (MTT or STT) - I prefer cash games (because of less variance).

Remember that MTT's are very high variance type of game form. One bad beat and you are out - if you want to win, you have to outdraw atleast once or twice in the tournament usually yourself. If you prefer lower variance, I'd suggest cash games or up to 45 player sit and go tournaments.

K2o 7 handed is a recipe for disaster. You're just asking to make your kings and have the worst kicker - or make something on the low end with the duece. Sorry but I think it was a bit more of poor play and a bit less of bad beat.

Even for the second one, I understand you were low on chips, but again, unless you're expecting the wheel I really don't think calling there was the best idea. Yes, he was playing with dumb cards, but you didn't know that and still took the risk. You said it yourself, you were on tilt - and paid for it.

I went in to my logger on hard disc,But i cant open it as it says cant fid ap program ? Any ideas ? I play at crazy poker on prima network by microgramming.

No offense, but if you are intertested in playing NL holdem tourneys, I suggest you a very good, basic book, Harrington on Holdem parts I-II from Dan Harrington. The two parts probably cost 60$, but it's well worth it, the K2o hand shows that you will profit a lot from reading that book. Wish you better luck for the future tourneys!
My worst bad beat was on a WSOP qualifier, 6 player remained, two short stacks, one mid-stack and three high-ish stacks fighting for 2 15000$ WSOP package, I am the third biggest stack and raise 3 big blinds from second position with QdQs, second biggest stack call on the button, flop is Qc 7d 8s, I bet 3/4 pot, button puts me all-in, I call, he shows Qh 9c, turn is Jh, river is Td, and I'm out instead of being a huge chipleader. He exactly needed a 56, 6T or TJ on the turn/river, he got it, and he went to the WSOP, and I did not. That's poker.
