How many people would take advantage of a casino if they could get away with it.

Reading all the posts these days about bonus wagering, excluded games etc. etc. made me wonder how many members would take advantage of a casino if they could get away with it without actually breaking any terms.

I know nowadays its nearly impossible with the amount of terms but years ago it was different as it was as if casinos never realised their bonuses could be taken advantage of what with the lower wagering etc.

Thinking about it its probably because of gamblers over the years that the terms are the way they are nowadays lol.

Don't get me wrong ive never defrauded a casino but many years ago I sometimes took advantage of casinos bonuses tho never actually done anything wrong and wouldn't do it now.

For example years ago I once got a nice bonus of Ladbrokes. It was several hundred and no idea why.
So went to live chat and asked to be told I can remove it if you want. I went im asking why its there to be told again if I don't want it they'll remove it so I went no its okay ill keep it.

Pissed of at his attitude and no idea what playthrough was I went to my fav slots like fat lady sings, Kathmandu , dolphin tale etc. and played them till got bonus round.

Once I got bonus round I quit and played another game till account was zero.

Then transferred £10 from sports to casino, sure enough it was real money so went back to all the games, played the bonus rounds then made a nice withdrawal lol:D

Anyway the casinos soon clocked onto the fact that if you left a slot with free spins while playing with a bonus and went back to it later after depositing that your winnings were all real money so they changed it.

But it was fun while it lasted.

So guess looking at terms these days then the way we played years ago never helped.

So just wondering if any other members also feel maybe their past behaviour helped casinos be the way they are today.

I would never dare use such nefarious tactics, I'd be way too paranoid and prefer the pure buzz of a genuine good session than trying to exploit some type of oversight by the casino or loophole!

But let's be honest here, we're all here under the united pretense of trying to outwit the casino and extort as much money as possible from them via our knowledge, tactical acumen and - if need be - magical sorcery.

All this leaving bonus games hanging and returning later doesn't compare to tapping the screen three times whilst standing on one leg whilst chanting Kylie Minogue's 'I should be so lucky' before urinating on a pile of bank notes. Try it.

I laughed so hard I spilled my coffee on my work desk. You owe me a notepad :)

'Honest George'here and I'm disgusted OP, I held you in such high regards Paul, tut, tut and treble tut!

Anyway onto the question in hand and yes of course I would, If I knew I was 100% guaranteed to come away squeaky clean.

I wouldn't however do anything remotely dodgy at my main casinos but I would prey on places such as Gala, Betfred, Betway, basically anywhere I've never had any luck at over the years.

I did take advantage of the old Ladbrokes promotions, think It was a 'Deposit £20 for 40FS on TSII' at one stage, sports, casino, sports, hey presto 40 totally free spins.

2 main memories I recall, one was after obtaining my FS, went to Untamed Wolf Pack with around £60 in bonus funds and hit a £300+ feature.

Went to banking and the system told me I would forfeit this bonus amount (so fucking what lol) quick 5 minute drive up the road and hey presto, nearly £300 cash for nothing!!

On my very skint days, I'd walk to the Laddies shop, deposit the 20 into sports, ring the missues to transfer to trigger the FS and then transfer it back and withdraw it 2 minutes later and repeat the process for her account so we had 80FS between us and the £20 back in my sky rocket!

These days tho I'm such a goody two shoes, I even get scared of breaking the 'Max Bet' rule on minimum stakes :p

... how many members would take advantage of a casino if they could get away with it ...

Let me rephrase the question if I may: if they knew they would not get punished what percentage of online casino players would use every advantage available to maximize their winnings?

Answer: about as close to 100% as you can imagine. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just that it is what I've observed over almost two decades of dealing with players and player issues.

TBH I don't think this is any -- or much -- different than the general non-gambling population. People will almost always seek the best advantage, especially if they can get away with it. Morals and ethics and suchlike become pretty malleable concepts in the hands of the general population when they're given the freedom to make, break and bend "the rules".

i live after a simple rule...

never do anything mean since i dont want others to act mean towards me.

so if a casino was treating me unfairly i would of course pay it back in the same currency....

Fact is:

We are all opportunists, no exception. Gaining an advantage over your opponent is one of our main survival instincts - be it out in the wild, in a box ring, the taxman, the rozzers, your competitor etc. and ultimately a casino.

The best (worst) experience - depends from which side you look at it - i had was, that a CS agent topped up my reward points to 1000$ instead of 10$. Thinking that they might take it away in a few minutes when they realize their mistake i went on very high bets and doubled the 1000$ in less than 5 minutes and withdrew the lot. It was all paid to my surprise and I, of course, kept quiet about it :p :D

Given that the general consumer experience has been that business will do everything they can legally do in order to "extract maximum value" from any relationship, it's hardly surprising that consumers have had decades to learn how to fight back and level the playing field, and this is the HONEST end of commerce. When we get to the grey areas, we see taking advantage of the mistakes made by the other party, which a considerable number of businesses will do to consumers as it's all perfectly legal - this is where we find the "bonus abuse" illustrated in the first post, the mistake in this case being shortcomings in the software.

Unfortunately, the way casinos have tackled this has been through ever more convoluted terms and conditions, traps, both deliberate and unintentional, and a ruthless approach to even the most minor and honest mistakes made by players. Far from improving matters, this has hardened the attitudes of many players who now feel that an honest mistake made by the casino in their favour should be grabbed just as ruthlessly as casinos treat honest mistakes made by players that work in their favour.

Casinos should have tackled the problem by making the software more robust, and also able to police the terms and conditions so that players simply could not make the honest mistake, and even the dishonest mistake would need to be worked hard at. This would have lead to a very high degree of compliance with the rules, and few "xxxxx casino screwed me over" stories. Instead, they took the lazy way out, confiscating winnings after the fact for even minor breaches of the rules, or even "spirit of the bonus" arguments, and almost never confiscating LOSSES under the same circumstances. Add to this the lack of regulation and "wild west" nature of the industry, we had the perfect recipe for an arms race as both players and casinos strived to be the winners.

In the real world, no player can be 100% sure of getting away with using any software or rule oversight as the casino could cotton on at the wrong time for the player with the casino still having custody of the players' money, which they can arbitrarily confiscate.

Some loopholes have lasted for a surprisingly long time, and as for the OP thinking casinos "soon cottoned on", it's more a case of the OP having "missed the boat":D

It now seems that the best software platforms for policing such loopholes is the multi provider platforms, where it appears the programmer knows the specific peculiarities of certain games better than the game provider. These platforms will not allow bonus balances to be transferred into certain potentially vulnerable games, which means that players can only use their real money portion of their bankroll in playing them. This shuts down the loophole at source, rather than relying on the casino to spot it's use when it audits a withdrawal.

The loophole mentioned by the OP would probably have escaped a thorough audit as the money was released when a straight cash deposit was played, whereas casinos mainly audit for "bonus abuse", and so would look mainly at withdrawals that resulted from play with a bonus. Funnily enough, the old Intercasino with Cryptologic software was one place where this loophole could not work, the software blocked it!! Cryptologic didn't support more than one incomplete game in the system, and when there was one, it would always force completion before another game could be played.

Amen to that x3!
To me, there can only be ONE logical reason why casino software is not configured to prevent players breaking the rules: It's the win-win scenario for them. Not a nice thought, but I can't think of any other reason :(

As for me - I did "take advantage" of certain bonuses back in the early noughties...
The most memorable one I was given by another player years ago, was playing Craps on the monthly bonus at Ritz casino (Cryptologic software), in such a way that you would have to be extremely unlucky not to make a profit every month... which I did for 12 straight months, until they removed Craps from WR. Wasn't a huge amount of £ - but it was all about the winning in those days ;)

This is a very interesting topic and relevant to me actually. I've gotten extra spins on netent games often Starburst and Robin Hood(I'm sure all of us have at some point) I do normally tell live help that they mistakenly gave me two or 3 sets of spins.

The fact is if we don't tell the casino they made a mistake sooner or later they will say "nope no more free spins because you are deceitful when given extra free spins".
You should always notify the casino if you are unsure about a bonus/free spins that has been added to your account with no kind of mention on your email or on the home page/lobby(if mg download).
Especially if the casino has been generous to you over a long period of time such as Videoslots with me for example.:cool:

Furthermore if you tell them their mistake they might reward you with a no deposit bonus or special spins it's really win win all round.

Integrity costs nothing folks.

True Dave!

I have been honest in situations as you describe and encouraged the missues to do the same.

In the handful of times these instances have happened, support/casino reps have told us to 'keep it' each and every time :)

I have read and heard way too many 'Horror Stories' to be even slightly devious!

The nicest story I have about me assisting a casino was a mistake on the homepage of slots it was The mega moolah lion with Jungle Games slot written below!! I informed live help of this immediately as that would not have gone down well with either NetEnt or MG! They gave me a €10 bonus for pointing this out to them.

Although we mostly lose we clearly all play in the hope of a win.

I would never take advantage of a casino. After all I'm the type of guy who not so long ago went back to a newsagent to return too much change when I realised they had given me change from £20 when I had only given £10. Not bragging - I think it does wonders for integrity and should be a given with us all.

But sure I'll take advantage of promotions in exactly the same way I would in a shop at Sainsbury. If I lose to a reputable casino with integrity all is good.

Likewise if a casino tries to con me or deceive then I won't be fooled twice. :)

I always close my eyes to make that 3rd one for the free spins appear! I don’t succeed all the time since only my great great great grandfather was a wizard! :D:D:D

I think the strategy to put your hands in front on your eyes... And slowly look between two fingers is the second best thing to do to make the third scatter or free spin sign appear.

The best one for me :

Breath in ... And yell: envoyes sors esti de plote :)

It works almost everytime.

Its french slang. For traduction it will cost you a lifetime membership on starburst freespins with a 50× WR with a 12$ max cashout with 6 minutes to achieve while snorting wasabi.
