Hiya: I thought this would be rather interesting, given all the different myths vs facts regarding internet gambling. Not counting Family members, and board members, how many others know you gamble OnLine? These must be people you have actually met, even if just other people at a Real Casino, or co workers, ect.

every one that knows me :) and i might add i was lured here by the ULIGA
I felt regardless id not be led like a sheep so in the beginning it was a form of protest :p

It is funny how many dealers here in Vegas, have no idea it is/was even possible to Gamble on the internet, without just flat getting ripped off, your bank acct. drained, and the Casino never to be heard from again.

If you go to real casinos sometimes, and like to talk to other players at the tables, as part of the fun of being there, bring this topic up.......;)

Oh, and yea, every person that knows me, knows i play on line. Most just shake their head thinking it is only a matter of time before the things i mentioned above happen to me/anyone who gambles on the internet.

Even my MUM knows, and she is a Jehova's Witness (has been for many years since seeing the light). Needless to say, many I have told don't APPROVE, but they know. I don't announce it to everybody, but I DON'T hide it either.
Letting everybody know means I am not going to get into trouble if I get "found out", even if it gets used against me in arguments.
My niece used it against me when I wouldn't give her money to squander, but it didn't work - why should I fund HER leisure activities in place of MINE. I have loaned BOTH my older nieces money when I deem it ESSENTIAL, but when they say I should't gamble, I say "...and where do you think I got the money to lend you from?". (The correct answer is "Treasure Ireland":D)

According to my second oldest niece, I have done WORSE things than gamble on the internet:D

While every single person I have ever met is an exaggeration, it's gotta be almost everyone in the past couple of years with the exception of most hospital staff.

It's not illegal where I live, the people on the casino shuttles are very interested. The DHL courier driver asked...and of course all the staff at Money Mart are aware. Most of the cabbies I know know, and many of them are online poker players themselves.

All my close friends know, as well as my immediate family.

I will not tell my mom!:)

Many people I know bet on horses and soccer, online gambling is legal! Theres no secret at all that I have gambled for about 15 years(not mom).

I've probably been too open about it to some that have tried to give me grief about it but as someone above said,

"Most just shake their head thinking it is only a matter of time before the things i mentioned above happen to me/anyone who gambles on the internet."

Good poll! :D

Please give me her e-mail address - I'm dying to know what you've done that's worse! :D

My missus knows of course, but never takes the slightest bit of interest in it.
Whereas my little darling (nearly TWO now :eek2:) sits on my lap and screams "Come on!" at the screen with me when we're looking for that 3rd scatter or 5 wilds on a win-line! :D

I haven't taken out a billboard announcement yet....but most people I know....know that I play online. Not a secret.

My girlfriend hates it with a passion- I usually get, "oh your not f*$king gambling again are you.

I dont tell her usually when I do so i do it when she is asleep- mind you i make sure ALL bills are paid and everything is out of the way for the fortnight but overall she hates gambling, which is strange as her whole family loves a punt.

other than that everyone knows they just dont knwo the volume of it which isnt very much now days.

Ive got a beautiful 19 month old boy id rather spend my money on- I mean we just got back from Holidays and boy is this kid pimped out- 2 pairs of Nike's and a pair of reef sandals worth $80 bucks- my boy is a high flyer i can tell you.

In short a few close friends only. I would be sceptical in advertising the fact I play online as gambling seems to conjure up negative connotations in peoples minds. If the OP's question was how many people do I know who gamble online then the answer would be none, as I suspect others are also sceptical about telling others for the same reason.

Another aspect of how non gambling friends view gambling is how they can perceive your current wealth or lack of it. Buy something nice and its "oh you must have had a good result" or if a having a lean financial month it could be "oh well you shouldn't gamble"

So in people minds it can become one extreme to the other, without them realising that the majority can gamble responsibly and they have nothing to fear from this enjoyable pastime.

As gambling online tends to be a solitary pursuit then their isnt much of a need to go telling all and sundry anyway.

I just have told this to my wife and my sister.

After all, the online gambling is a new concept in our country.

I didn't tell my parents, because they don't honor gambling at all, only my girlfriend and my closest friends know that Im gambling online.

Well - you have given me an idea to do something even WORSE than what my second oldest niece thinks is worse than online gambling.

My great niece will be 2 in November, so maybe I will get HER interested in screaming "come on" at the screen for that Royal Flush, or top feature in "Treasure Ireland".

Currently, the worst thing I have done is spent my money on someone who was NOT HER. It was, in fact, her half-sisters & half brother, and I was read the "riot act" last month when I mentioned I was merely THINKING of letting them come to Alton Towers this summer. It's "thought crime" now - she should have been a communist:D I was forced to promise not to take them to Alton Towers, so I may settle for a day out looking around a country manor estate near Birmingham. She could, of course, pay back the money I lent her for essentials, instead of being a spendthrift.

As for her email address, sorry KK, but you're married, you don't want to risk that, surely;)

most everyone i know- knows i gamble. i dont say much about it anymore. there are a few of my friends that would like to try it but dont want to send in the banking or any other personel info. i did tell my neigbor about internet gambling and turned her on to inet and club. she has a mom that is sickly and they cant make trips anymore and now they play at home togather. she learned the ins and outs of depositing and withdrawing and now she plays all the time. there are a few of my other neighbors that love the land base casinos that would gamble online but i havent mentioned it to them.

Nobody, basically. But then it's not a topic that comes up naturally - it's sort of like asking someone, "So, do you masturbate?"

There are two types of people who don't masturbate. People without arms and liars.

About the question:

Everyone knows when I win. ;)

I'm really surprised by the number of folks that respond that no one besides their SO and family know.

Perhaps since the US has made a perfectly reasonable adult activity an underground escapade, members do not feel free to discuss it.

I just returned from a trip to Casino Rama in Canada, and it is being talked about by the B&M players. I'd say the majority of the Texas Holdem players play online as well. Quite a number of the slot players seem to as well. One lady who was out on a field trip as respite care for her Alzheimer's stricken husband was obviously familar with online slots, and was doing a very good job of explaining her depositing and withdrawal procedures to a couple of interested friends.

I've been a gambler for a very long time, and know a lot of gamblers. Those who are not playing on line are interested in exploring it.

Here in Ontario slots pay back very poorly, especially the lower denomination ones. Vegas or Atlantic City is not in reach regularly for most of us. Aging patrons face mobility issues, and winter driving is often challenging here.

A lot of the discussions I overheard were outside in the smoking areas. The ability to indulge your other vices in the comfort of your own home were another factor for many smokers.

Hiya: One of the things i expected to hear, "more than once" was: "I used to tell people i gambled online, but not anymore, as i am tired of being called an idiot".

There are a lot of people, who for various reasons think, "ALL" On Line Casinos are just a scam an Ripoff. That you must be really ignorant or just plain stupid to givem them your money, and actually expect them to give you a fair game, or pay you if you accidently won.

You would think that some of us here have heard this, and then decided, "I do not need to be hearing this, so i will just keep my Internet play to myself".
I would expect it to be even worse, and happen more often to a person who is an Affiliate. Any way, thanks for voting, and responding.
