4.30N Image Of The Moon, 14/1 with B365, 11/1 elsewhere. I was waiting to see if there were any odds movements before posting this one. Came second last year over C&D, although it was GS going rather than the good forecast for today. The stable are in form, and has an EW chance, especially if the price keeps contracting. The stable know what they are doing and if their horses are getting backed, its usually a sign they expect it to run well.
2.30Y John Smiths Cup - love races like this. Massive, high quality, handicaps where most the field have a chance. I usually do 4 horses and combine them in reverse exactas and trifectas. Reason for doing the tote versions is that, if the favourite isn't involved, then the returns tend to be higher than the computer generated ones, much higher when it comes to the tricast. Doesn't work every time, but generally it does.
I rarely get these winning, maybe once a season, or less, but as the returns are so high, thats enough to clear a good profit. I tend to do 24 x 50p tricasts and 12 x 50p forecasts, so total £18. I do roughly 25-30 a year (less this year obviously), last return was £4200 around a year ago, and previous to that was £3300 about 15 months previously. Massively in profit from them over the years, but obviously they don't come in often.
Sinjaari - well drawn and easily up to being placed in this if he can regain his form from last year. Prices don't really matter for this type of bet, but currently 14/1 everywhere.
Sky Defender - Won at Epsom 2 weeks ago, in a same grade race as this, over the same distance, same jockey, and same sort of price (33/1). Jockey and trainer both in decent form. Only negative is the high draw, which is off putting, but don't think its such the handicap here that it was say 5 years ago. 22/1
Desert Icon - Drawn well, very impressive last time, Tom Marquand riding, should be thereabouts. 14/1
Harrovian - the last of the 4 came down to this one, Solid Stone and Good Birthday. Harrovian got the vote simply because it's Dettori's only ride of the day, and can't see why he would go for one ride if he wasn't expecting the horse to run well. Currently around 8/1.
If they come in, think the lowest price tricast will be around 900/1, highest would be roughly 4000/1. The trifecta would probably pay anywhere between 50 and 100% higher, depending on what come in and the order they finish.
Good luck today with your bets
