Cryptologic have removed their Video Keno game, which had a $262,000 jackpot, of which all but the first $50,000 was player funds.

The money does not appear to have redistributed to other games.

This appears to be a case of $212,000 being stolen.

Bad.

This sort of stuff doesnt surprise me anymore.

The software providers or the regulators are the ones who need to keep the money, when the player wins pay them out IN FULL and what ever casino it was that had the jackpot win get a share of what they are owed, or how ever it works.
This wouldnt of happend when the USA were in the game, plenty of money to go around for everyone.

I think this whole thing with the casino's running off with progressive's is a good tell that the industry is becoming pretty tight with funds, I mean i bet the yearly statistics are getting less and less each year and a little slice of progressive pie to get you out of trouble and leave the online industry with money is where they are heading.

Dont get me wrong you got the good casino;s with plenty in the reserve who can ride the hard times out but I know some of them are feeling the heat from the USA ban along with this recession.

It's becoming a trend from what I see

Well if they DONT return it to players somehow then everyone should boycott them immediately.

How about holding a month-long random raffle and split it up into some nice $$$ prizes?? Every $25 wagered earns a ticket! Or, a free tourney with big prizes! Surely there has to be a way to allow the funds to be won.

Any solution that involves the casino holding back even $1 of that money is outright theft IMO.

It sure is same_old. We have the Casino Club/Realplayer jackpot of (I think) $160K or so...still waiting on a decision from Malta apparently. Will they put the money back? We have the Irish Luck fiasco....over 200K, and if not for the negative publicity over the whole thing, who knows if they would have put it back or not? And don't forget that a week or two later, it was miraculously won yet again, supposedly legitimately that time. And there was the Playtech player (was it Joyland Casino) who won the progressive and ended up with only a portion of the actual pot...where did the rest of that go? We have the most recent Topgame Progressive game Dougie's Delights being removed on May 21st, with a jackpot of $192,000. The game and the jackpot is still AWOL, as far as I know.

And now this? Jeezus.

Call me naive but I expect a lot more from Crypto. OP, did you email the skin you play on to find out what was going on? Maybe there is a "Crypto found a bug and the game will be alive again next week" type answer. Considering this company trades publicly and relies on licensed skins I would imagine you could really start some trouble if they outright stole $212,000.

Well I checked VIP and Intercasino, and their latest update removes the game, which seems pretty final. Parbet still have it in the software, but it doesn't work. Haven't emailed anybody.

Crypto or the casinos could publish the explanation without the need for any external prompting. Boss Media, also publicly traded, tried to appropriate the progressive jackpots in 2002, see for example

I'd like to hear from Crypto on this! And I agree with GrandMaster. Crypto should be making some sort of statement, regardless of the problem, without players prompting... whether it's down for 'maintenance' or whatever....

Perhaps someone won it, but was using 'strategies', (you know... some super secret method of winning keno by betting his grandmother's birthdate or similar), and must be investigated....

Ha Ha, Of all the casino games in the world. Keno would have to be the hardest game to come up with a strategy for. The odds are crazy, but I love Keno. Though I hardly play online, I play it a lot at B&Ms. I've tried everything from kids bdays, to favorite Nascar cars. Nothing works. I end up just letting the machine pick them randomly.

Wouldn't it be something if it turned out to be an investigation like that:eek:

Two days have gone by... Someone at Crypto should be saying something.... Has the jackpot returned? Anyone heard anything?

How can you make assumptions on money seized when you have no clue as to what or why anything happened? Using terms like "stolen" and "rogue" is a bit over the top in my opinion when you lack information to be judgemental. Now everyone is sitting here bitching about this without any real information to go on - what good is that? :what:

I've emailed Crypto to see what's up.

Because whatever has happened, they have made no effort to communicate it. If you don't communicate, people are quite entitled to speculate. That's the way it goes. They had a duty to inform people, sometime around or before the point they removed the game from the software. They didn't.

Casinos should learn that bad customer relations has consequences. Jackpot gone, game removed, why should they expect people to praise them for that?

Unlike Roger and MGS, Crypto. has to communincate:what:. Trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange ,iirc, but their headquarters are in Dublin. Call their investor relations department as this is the type of issue they should not use any coachspeak nor are they restricted from addressing.

I received an answer almost immediately from Crypto:

...We absolutely have not, nor would we ever steal player funds. Not only because we are a publically traded company on three major stock exchanges, but also because we pride ourselves as operating with integrity, which in this industry is especially important.

Basically, we took the jackpot funds from Video Keno, a game with very little game play, and transferred them to Cleo, a new game we just launched. All of our customers should have advised their players of this in advance, but it appears from the thread that this did not happen in some cases. I can understand and appreciate the questions from the forum members, and hope that this allays their concerns.

The wagering on Video Keno was so low that we decided it just was not worth continuing to keep it active...

So it was up to the operators to contact the players. Who knows why they didn't - perhaps they didn't see the importance of it all. Dunno.

And you're basing your assumptions on the fact that you didn't get the memo? You were pointing fingers at the wrong people. It should have been the casinos notifying players, not Crypto.

Admin Note: title changed

Changed the title for "Roguish...player funds seized" to "player funds moved"

Again - please exercise restraint in making accusations. Don't accuse people of wrongdoing unless you're sure you know what you're talking about.

In the statement I have no reason to assume "We" is not Cryptologic and the fact "We" is a public company, a simple press release would have been proper regardless. They have press releases and filings everywhere on multiple company related issues. Someone must have been on vacation, lol!!

Not saying a press release would have accomplished what you accomplished pursuant to this forum and it's members/or the operator's players but this company as "We" mentions "pride" should be accountable to it's shareholders also. Maybe just a minor oversight.

Casino/crypto, something went wrong.

The new game, a rip-off of the IGT slot Cleopatra, is a bit odd. Previously you could win the jackpot off a $1 spin. Now they've split it up onto each of the 9 lines on the slot, and to win the full amount you need to bet $45/spin. If you bet $0.45, you only win 1%.

The problem is these jackpots don't seem very generous. The best pay is 5500 coins for 5 wilds, which is lower than many of the non-progressive slots.

Also according to your news feed, this new game is at intercasino only, which doesn't seem fair to customers of the other casinos who fed the jackpot originally.

Also I'm not convinced that cryptologic haven't 'grabbed' some of the cash.

The video keno jackpot was $262,000. $212,000 of this was player funds, from a $50,000 seed.

The highest Cleo jackpot is $27,285. Divide the 212,000 by 9, and you get $23,556. Take that off the current jackpot, and you've got a 745 coin start value for the progressive. Really? Seems awfully low to me. Other games pay 4000+ coins for 5 wilds.

What is the seed value for the jackpot? How has this money been reallocated?

Somebody would have won the keno jackpot eventually. To replace a $1 game with a $45 game doesn't seem right to me.

Hi folks,

Sorry for the slow response, only just picked up on this! We [InterCasino] should have communicated the move in funds from Keno to Cleo on the website and we didn't which is our mistake and for that we apologise for the confusion.

No money has been taken from the jackpot and I can confirm to you all that the odds for winning a jackpot on Cleo are greater than they were on Keno.

I hope that clears things up and once again, sorry for the confusion.

If someone hits the jackpot on one of the lines at $45/spin, what is the reset value for the jackpot?

Unless you can prove that you're the lifetime #1 Keno player in history, then stop...

Actually the 8-play keno is potentially quite a good game, because the chance of hitting the jackpot (which pays 10% of the progressive) is much greater than 10x the chance of hitting it onl 10-play (which pays 100% of the progressive.

Anyway, the starting value of the jackpots is supposed to be published, see every other progressive game:

etc.

If someone hits the jackpot on one of the lines at $45/spin, what is the reset value for the jackpot?

The reset value for each Cleo jackpot line is 20k at max coin value (and will show as proportionally smaller amounts at lower coin values).

Jackpot hits at lower coin values remove the applicable amount from that jackpot and would top up back to the minimum reset value if a jackpot win took that lines jackpot below 20k.

(some points on Cleo)

Cleo is a 9-line slot machine that includes 9 separate progressive jackpots

One jackpot is associated with each payline.

The jackpot for a given line is triggered (i.e. paid out) if the spin results in all five reel positions for that line containing five of the top-paying symbols (i.e. Cleopatra, the wild symbol).

The size of the jackpot displayed/won is tied to the coin denomination that the user selects.

Coin values range from 0.05 to 5.00 per line.

The reset value of each jackpot is 20,000 units, although that amount is available to be won only by players at the 5.00 per line level.

Each lower coin value enables a proportional percentage of the jackpots that will be paid under the appropriate win condition as described above.

Example: If the jackpot on line 1 is 23,500 @ 5.00 per line, a player at the 0.50 per line level would see (and be able to win) 2,350 for that jackpot.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, could you please tell me what the initial value of these jackpots was at max coin when the game was first started, given that the money contributed by Keno players was moved over, so it must have started much higher than $20k?

Hi thelawnet,

Sorry I still haven't got back to you on this, I'm not sure of the answer myself, and so emailed someone last week who could give me the answer - I'm just waiting to hear back from him.

We're still very much in the early stages of our forum activity and are learning a lot about what forums users want from a casino's forum rep. We're trying to setup some new channels to allow me to get quicker responses when I'm presented with questions I'm unsure about.

I'm a poker player at heart, so I need more help for the Casino requests :)

As soon as I hear back I'll let you know.
