Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

Brilliant, can't even spell a 4 letter word correctly. No wonder they insist on keeping the schools open :)

I like this guide.
"always wash your hands when you have been out, come home or come to your work or school. Wash your hands even when eating, cooking or handling food, and after using the toilet."

Even after using the toilet?
What kind of madness is this.

I am so worried about not being able to spend my xmas with my daughter that it's unreal. Restrictions change now in the UK within less than a day.
I have family around so I am much better off than a lot. But buggering about with you country folks lives at the last minute when you must have had the mutation data at hand for at least a month is really not being transparent

I think that you best back track a little on your investigations about what the king of Sweden and his gov actually meant to say rather that what was reported. They backtracked because of misrepretentation.
link please Col, I can't find a single thing being reported saying that?
Not sure why they would backtrack, their approach has failed.

Fingers crossed Col. Our cases up here are falling daily, I think Cheltenham has a fairly low rate too, with no signs of an increase, so I would imagine you will be ok :)

I will. Sorry if I am slow with links but I am pissed to be honest cos there is little else that I can do at the moment. I will provide the link if I can, But respect the fact that quite often links and original data these days are altered or deleted

Anyone that still thinks this is about a virus is a cunt, if that gets me banned so be it. This is about destroying our way of life.
Yes im that "Cunt"
Why would any Government want to shut down and lose ££ and also lose voters for next election just to "control" us, This has nothing to do with wanting to control people more about trying to save people from dying.

I HATE the tory scum in power they have failed at every single step this year always weeks behind the science and having one of the worse PM in our history in power does not help. , but even I do not think government is trying to control us, Stop reading so much BS and fake news out there.

This could be the worse its ever been going in to xmas period and yet people still moan about staying in doors with water electric heating internet benefits/wages ect, If this is what being controlled is then its pretty decent,

Hey fellas,

If you had a choice which vaccine would you take
1/ Pfizer
2/Moderna
3/Sinovac (China)
4/Sputnik (Russia)
5/ Astraxeneca (UK)
6/ Others I havent named

Any of which have been tested and verified by the top scientists in the world.

Im in the middle of the list due to underlying health conditions, I can not WAIT for the jab.

The UK figures today are truly horrendous. Tuesday's are going to be horrific as they are always the highest of the week.

35,928 cases in the UK. +17,481
326 deaths in the UK. +182
2,034 patients admitted to hospital in the UK. +348
18,771 patients in hospital in the UK. +2,240
1,364 patients on ventilation in the UK. +89

+ figures are compared to last Sunday.

23,243 of the cases are from London, South East and East Anglia, so the rest of the country wasn't too bad, sure that will change after the scenes on the trains after Tier 4 was announced :(

I can't see any way there isn't going to be a full, national lockdown in the next week or two, including closing schools etc as they did for the first one. Considering hospitalisations tend to follow 10-14 days after cases, then deaths 2-3 weeks after that, the next month or so isn't going to be good :(

Cobra meeting in the morning which is never good news, and looks like there will be panic buying again soon considering countries are now closing borders with us, including the French who aren't even allowing freight in the country, so thats us fucked for a load of food short term, as even though drivers can come to the UK (apparently) they can't go back, so can't see many thinking, oh lets drive to England a few days before Christmas and get stuck there, missing Christmas with our families.

It's only accompanied freight.

A large portion of the artic trailers are just dropped at the terminals to be loaded by a tug anyway and the truck driver picks up another full/empty one.

But, yes the logistics to cope with the additional unmanned trailers will take a bit of sorting.

The panic buying is a complete joke, i,m lucky that the nearest supermarket is a good 45 mins away, so only use it maybe once a month and have not since all this crap kicked off.

The supermarkets should do more to stop people going in and grabbing trolley loads of bog roll, bread, milk etc.

Luckily in the village we have a butchers and a mini mart store and during the last lock down they both rationed what they had, no one was allowed to buy more than 2 of anything and bread and milk was 1. It worked fine and was near enough back to being fully stocked as normal within a couple of weeks and has been since.

Apart from people wearing masks and the pub is shut, you would not notice lock down here, as it,s quiet anyway.

Which makes it a great place to live, only ball ache is the 45 mins of country roads until you hit a proper road that you can head North or south on.

None and won’t take a vaccine.

You may end up with no choice.

Your work may insist on it, through choice or if it's made mandatory, no vaccine, no job.

The government could refuse to pay people benefits unless they are vaccinated.

If your self employed your customers could ask for proof of being vaccinated or take their custom elsewhere.

If your a tenant or rent a room, you may find yourself evicted if the owner so chooses.

Basically the list is endless, Pub's, hotels, holiday parks, shops, no passport etc etc etc.

What about parents who have split up and have children shared, plus have a new partner and kids. I could see the shite hitting the fan if one was pro vaccine the other against and stopping access.

Might sound a bit far fetched and people will be screaming human rights and it's against the law to implement any of the above, But we are only at the start of this virus and nobody can say where this will end up or how far measures will have to go. Laws have already been changed this year.

Plus i would say that the general public will end up turning on the people who are still carrying on life as normal, going about without masks, travelling, mixing, they would find everyday life very difficult to lead in the end.

Everyone is getting peed off the longer this goes on and have come to realise this is not just going to go away.

Social media is just full of fukwits screaming that it's all a hoax and the rest of us are sheep.

I've noticed recently that the tide is turning rapidly against them as people are waking up to the reality of the situation and the fukwits are getting a large portion of hostility thrown at them, and rightly so.

But you can't educate stupid (not referring to you Ben).

An example, Facebook is full off the said fuckwits today screaming that Boris had banned everyone from leaving the country, what fecking planet are they living on?. How do they exist in life?.

You try and explain that nobody is banned from leaving, it,s the other countries that have banned us from entering and they honestly don,t understand the truth and will post a picture with false information and claim it's factual, as they have seen it shared on their pissing wall.

Jeez did i really type all that.

ERRRRR. Rant over.

None and won’t take a vaccine.

Just to add Ben.

I respect your choice and i believe it should be down to the individual if they have it or not.

Sadly i,m in the second level after the elderly as being at high risk. So if i catch it it.s pretty much odds on i will be a gonna.

So i'm left with no choice but to have it, as i trust the twats on social media less than i trust the vaccine.

It is not quite so easy to find info that goes against the narrative these days. The article that I originally read Saturday morning can not be found. However I have found these. Sweden's approach is still radically different to most countries and life is going on in Sweden. It appears that a few other Scandinavian countries are modelling their approach on Sweden's. It is worth noting that the Swedish Government have taken a back seat and left the decision making to over 100 of their top scientist.

I think we are entering a very dangerous phase and the outlook is worse than its even been. They are still farting around with bubbles and tiers, every lockdown
has been a joke, the streets were still full of people and the roads full of cars.Fraid the gov has shown they are not fit to tackle the epedemic and some kind
of step change in aproach is needed.Almost every eu country has a curfew, never heard it mentioned or suggested in the UK.
We had the time to get us through to mass vaccination but it was wasted, we wont get the same chance again, instead we will have to take drastic action just to try
and contain the situation.I have a horrible feeling that bad as 2020 has been 2021 will be much worse.
The only realistic solution now is to have something like a 2 month proper lockdown, fuck the economy, fuck the kids education, worry about that when we get through
it.

People will drink them selfs to death ruin there kidneys,
People will smoke " And have no idea what's inside a cigarette" destroying there lungs and giving them cancer
People will over eat and ruin there body and getting cancer due to obesity
People will take drugs like cocaine and heroin

But they refuse to take a vaccine made by some of the most intelligent well educated people on the planet cause they " Dont know what's inside it" or believe all the fake shit on social media and are uneducated.

They happy enough puffing on a fag full of chemicals but not taking a vaccine which has been approved by loads of different independent regulators
Its blows my mind when I think about it, If only they took a step back of social media and looked in it more they might just open there eyes and see this is nothing but another vaccine the likes we have been taking for decades.

"Clinicians have been providing anecdotal evidence of a shift in the clinical epidemiological picture – in particular noting that they are seeing a larger proportion of younger patients with no comorbidities presenting with critical illness,"

South Africa having issues of their own with a new mutation, and it's summer down there...

Tragedy waiting to happen?

Elderly and vulnerable people all vaccinated but the young are not vaccinated in time before this new severe strain takes hold?

Would you bet against it?

I wouldn't...

On the other hand, doctors here have said recently that at the beginning of the 2nd wave the people that wound up in hospital were much younger than the ones they saw ending up there during the 1st wave but when measures were tightened again and as the 2nd wave was maturing they were seeing the same older and more vulnerable group of people end up in hospital.

It's entirely possible that due to social gatherings when there are less measures in place younger people get infected at those so called "superspread events", and are hit with a high viral load.

Well, Tomorrow is again Tuesday but as the saying goes 'Its always darkest before dawn'. Though the mutation has rendered the coronavirus to be highly contagious, hopefully those infected will not develop serious complications.

You're giving them alot of credit: 20 minutes on Google? I'm sure you meant copypasting or parrotting someone else's Facebook status.

Finland is not part of Scandinavia because it geographically doesn't share the Scandinavian penninsula the way Sweden and Norway are. However, Finland is considered a Nordic country like Iceland, due to its northernly location close to Sweden and Norway.

FFR

edit: And that's quite true that since summer, Sweden have had more strict restrictions for many things than Finland, before summer it was really different in Sweden with hardly any restrictions but since June or something there haven't been big differences.

I see the panic buying is back as the press are shit-stirring again, for Xmas dinner shortages, despite the supermarkets telling us they have ample supplies already. Sprouts, potatoes, turkey etc. and most other goods are UK-produced anyway, we're talking fresh broccoli and cauliflower etc. which isn't produced in the UK this time of year and of course those foul French cheeses.

I am hoping to get pigs-in-blankets as I cannot face @ChopleyIOM if I failed to secure those bastards.

The produce required for Christmas is basically already in the country, and the supermarkets have been planning for it for months.

There isn't going to be any immediate food shortage and even going into the new year once transition end there will still be the movement of freight, of course.

There is however the potential for serious disruption to supply chains once transition ends and customs checks come in, along with all the associated form-filling and nightmare bureaucracy, intertwined with a possible resurgence of the Covid crisis.

No one's going to starve to death, there will still be food on the shelves, but we could very well see choice reduced and will almost certainly see increased prices.

Indeed. Out of caution, we just did our Xmas shop. Busy, but served quickly and everything was there in abundance, 100% of the list bought. Happy days. Including pigs-in-blankets. :D

I always thought you bought the pigs and blankets separately and had to assemble them at home, like Ikea furniture.

Plate of sausages, plates of bacon; move fork to plate one, plate 2 and then in to-your mouth; saves you the hassle.

Never had them actually; I’m sure they’re as lovely as meat wrapped another meat sounds though.

Yes, we are doing that this year, but could have been typically British-lazy and bought the ready-made ones.

Our world leaders have not been honest at all. This new dominant strain of covid was known about back in mid summer and they sat on it for months without telling us. Where was the reports to the WHO about it when it became an obvious danger? No. They let kids go back to school instead of locking down and creating travel restrictions.
And there is zero evidence that the vaccine will help save one life
