Must say all the shops still open around here are doing all they can to prevent infection.
Suppose it only takes one person with the virus to touch a few goods without buying them to infect others.
Would be a good move to require all customers to wear gloves in the shops, would say that the majority dont.
I was reading abo
It will still be spreading in places like supermarkets, regardless of social distancing. I would imagine places like that will be hot beds of transmission right now.
Then you have the effect of people catching it in supermarkets spreading it to their families...
Add on other key workers and you have a lot of cases.
Without lockdown we'd have had herd immunity (and a lot of death in a short period) within about 6 weeks.
If that is correct about the 6 weeks then Sweden should have the herd immunity in about 2 weeks ? Is that right?
I actually think there are so many factors to take into consideration it's a complete nightmare.
1. The amount of people that are in close proximity to each other. Some countries have a far more spread out population where as in some many sleep in the same room and lots live close together.
2. The amount of testing that is done and the contact tracing . Some countries have done lots others not so. Thus in many countries we have no idea how many have the virus or have had it.
3. The way figures are collected to say how many people have it or have died and the timeliness of that information being gathered and announced . Even the honesty of that information in some countries.
4. The standard of health care available and the number of icu beds and ventilators.
5. The willingness of citizens to do as requested. In China they do as they are told or face consequences. People vanish or may be severely punished
In Sweden they mostly do as asked without the need of actual new laws to make them. In the uk we are a mix of both.
The police action. In Italy and Spain the police are empowered to be much stricter and have a lot of control.
The lead on to all this is the financial assistance available to those grounded at home.
6. The point that lock down began. Some countries acted really quickly. New Zealand for example where they locked down after a few hundred cases and no deaths at the point of lockdown. This makes a massive difference and those countries seem to be reaping benefits.
The thing is there is no one size fits all and no guarantee that if you copy what another country is doing that it will work for you.
The doctors need to learn from other doctors about the best way to treat patients and science will hopefully show why some people are really badly affected and not others.
Ending lockdown asap I am sure is the goal of all governments everywhere but has to be done in a controlled and timely way.
