Suggestion Close Online Casinos - Coronavirus Pandemic

He might not have phrased it the best he could, but he does have a point. Amazon apparently are busier than they are at Christmas, so should they be forced to only sell food and essential items and remove the rest of their range?

Where are you getting the information that online casinos are thriving? I said a while back I thought there would be short term gains for them but that would be offset by long term loss of business, when people start getting a reduced income.

I understand about Amazon, eBay other sites selling items that is totally fine. However online casinos are designed to take our money yeah you can win sometimes but the house always wins.

I know about the tools that casinos offer for responsible gaming. What I'm trying to say maybe not shutdown the casino but have more in place for new playing customers coming from landbased casinos, bingo halls, betting shops that have been encouraged to play online while the landbased are closed.

Ok, but from what you said, these people getting texts are people who use land based and have obviously opted into marketing. The casino don't know they have been made redundant, so thats a moot point. What do you think should be put in place for these people over and above what is already in place for anyone else at any other time?

Spain has just prohibited all gambling advertising while the pandemic persists:

As others have already pointed out, if they receive offers its due to opting in for marketing send outs. Its not like the casinos are actually targeting people that gets laid off.

Further to that point, your solution would be to have approximately 1/50th of Malta's population laid off, rather than people being responsible for their own loses and setting limits?

Also feel free to share those news articles and sources, until you do there's no evidence.

We have to be adults to play online so we need to act like a adult and need to be responsible for our own actions. Any one feels they cant control them self then put limits in place or self exclude. There are many who are responsible and we should have the opportunity to play. No one ever talks about the good side of things and the the few that cause complaints ruin for all, this is happening in all areas of life. First step with someone with a problem is to acknowledge the problem is you before putting the blame on someone or something else.

I think online casinos will grow even more even when the pandemic goes away. Thousands of people who us ta go to bingo and land base casinos are signing up on online. I personally have had about a dozen of friends that I have helped with choosing a online casino. First thing I tell them is to go to Casinomeister. 2nd I tell them which casino I play then I tell them maybe they should set a limit and I always say do not blame me if they go broke lol and I always say stay away from Playolg.ca as so many feel its the only legal casino in Ontario so again I tell them to go to Casinomeister before signing up to any casinos and stick to the accredited list.

How is there evidence of this so early in the pandemic? We can assume that people are playing more online - but that is merely an assumption and not based on fact.

And just because someone plays more at an online casino does not necessarily mean the casino is going to make more money off of the person. These persons may be budgeting their bankroll, they may be taking free spin offers, or winning (gasp! ), so this is a complex issue that won't be able to be analyzed for a few months once some of these casino companies release some figures - at least the publicly traded one.

I can see how people can presume that more people are playing online, but this does not mean it is true.

Yes, It's normal but it should not be happening while we are in isolation It's enticing people to sign up for online play which is totally wrong in my opinion. Ads should be stopped from coming on the TV, texts, emails advertising casinos etc.

I must say, I've noticed quite an increase in ads for casinos on TV, recently.

Also the number of texts and emails from casinos, I'm receiving DAILY is starting to get out of hand.
I've had to opt-out of SMS at quite a lot of casinos. Because they've been messaging EVERY DAY.

It's not like they're even offering anything worthwhile. It's like, rather than sending out a couple of offers a week, they've now split their weekly budget by 7, rather than 2. So they can send offers daily.

In fact, some aren't even sending offers, just game suggestions. "why not try our 'Game of the week'?",
"Did you know that the jackpot on ....... is now at £xxxxxx, why not play it now"

Obviously they'd deny there's been any change in their marketing policies.
But they're obviously hoping to cash-in on people being bored at home, by constantly reminding players of their casino's existence

Personally, I stopped playing completely. Its been a week or so now. I will never stop enjoying slots and everything related to online gambling. But even before covid, I felt like I was a retarted person and taken for granted by all casinos. No offers, no loyalty, the truth most of the time but not always. When I saw relax gaming blocking canadians for btg games and nobody could explain it, that was enough. Its always a pleasure to give money. When there is less and less fun... and nobody says thanks anymore, I might as well give it to random poor people in exchange of a smile.

Why don't the online casinos close down their sites until the coronavirus pandemic ends? While many countries are in lockdown millions of people are turning to online casinos like myself and wasting thousands of pounds, dollars whatever currency it is where you live because we are bored and cannot go out to spend our money on other things such as clothes, etc. I am living in the UK and all casinos, bingo halls, betting shops have closed so I cannot see why the online ones cant as well.

Same here in Finland. I've been jumping between different casinos online. These past days, been stuck playing across some Finnish casinos in <snip>. Yet, i'm still itched to go out if only there's one open and if i can get in. Can't wait for this lockdown to end.

I have received email from one of few casinos i have accout opted in for contacts, about COVID and warning about not gambling too much, use limit or something, don't remember exact phrasing but it was mentioned also about vulnerable people etc... Which i think was quite ok, it didn't even include any offer or promoted to play any game
