I could do with a bit of help

I am a gambling addict who had been doing really well and hasn't had a bet in quite a while and had been blocking everywhere and keeping a spreadsheet.

I'm devasted to say I lost my only child of only 18 years old on the 16th August and buried her this week.

I am totally devistated and my doctor has got me on a lot of medication to try and keep me calm but in a moment of utter weakness and devistated I gambled on casino heroes last night not realising I was blocked, not thinking really I was sat on my own in tears.

I won £652 and was going to cash out and shut it down in shame this morning to find out I was blocked.

I am utterly devistated as I made a promise as she was dying that i wouldn't gamble again.

I feel utter distraught now. The money was to go towards her headstone. They won't refund deposits which were around £600 or winning of £652. I deposited via skrill.

Surely they can't keep both. I am just a wreck at the moment and don't know what to do and I feel I've let her down so badly.

Thanks for listening

Rachel

If you are excluded bets are void and you should NOT be paid winnings - this is clearly in the UKGC regulations. They should also refund the deposits automatically if that's the case so if they don't tell them they are obliged to. If that fails maybe come back here and use the PAB service. Casinoheroes are decent.

Hi Rachel, I am really sorry for your loss...I wish you all the strength needed in these difficult times...

When it comes to your deposits, they should refund you those!!
Your winnings will be voided but you are 100% entitled to get your deposits back as it would be illegal for CasinoHeroes to take bets from excluded players, simple as that.

They are a decent outfit and I am positive they will pay you those back.
If not you can always come back here and open a PAB here

Let us know how this plays out.

And again, I wish you all the best in these difficult times!

little piece of advice - don't fall into the trap of trying to win it back elsewhere . Been given sound advice above and they are very helpful here . Temptation is a horrible thing with addiction and even a massive win will not mask your loss. Get your money back and find someone to talk to so that you don't put yourself in this position again (with regards to the shameful feelings) .

sorry to read about your loss :(

I'm very sorry for your enormous loss, Rachel :(

Just sent an email to our Heroes contact.
Thank you so much for this. It was a moment of weakness as I'm not coping very well with Emilys death and the fact that it was her death bed promise I made has made it so much worse. Before her death she had taken me to GA and had been signing up for Gamstop with me spurring me on as she hated gambling it was just her deteriation over 7 weeks in hospital that stopped me carrying on with blocks and keeping records of where I had blocked. I'm just destroyed with all this. It was her funeral on Tuesday and I'm not in a good place. I've been for assessment for suicidal thoughts today as they are that worried about me. They are sending me for bereavement counciling now. I am not bothered about the winning but surely they can't have it both ways and keep deposits and winnings. Thank you so much for your help.

I can't help any more than whats already been suggested, but just wanted to say sorry for your loss, I don't think there could be anything worse than losing your child :(
Please make sure you go for the counselling, it takes time but it will help you cope a little better eventually.

If you make it through these difficult times, and you will, I am sure your daughter will be very proud of you.
And the best way to show this is to beat that gambling addiction, but you first need time to mourn the loss of a loved one.
It maybe sounds useless now, but if you overcome this you will come out a 100 times stronger.

Mark.

Sending big hugs.
I can’t imagine how hard life is for you right now. One of the regular members tend to always around somewhere so just head here if you feel the urge to gamble and we will do our best to distract you.

The beasts of addiction sense that you are weak right now and will continue to try to strike. Use Emily’s spirit as your shield. She sounded a strong and wise young lady.

Avoid late nights and alcohol as they feed the beast.

Sorry for your loss and I hope the casino in question does the right thing x

Sorry to hear about recent events. CasinoHeroes I'm sure will refund your deposits if you were excluded. The rep here should be able to help you.

Remember you can now self-exclude from all casinos (current and future) via:

Thank you for all your support. We were just in the process of doing Gamstop when she died.

I just feel so guilty and ashamed..pretty much hate myself at the moment.

I've been to counciling this week already. Reached out to my GA group and staying with a friend to try to help in all those things as there was just two of us at home. I will carry on with the gamstop application tomorrow. Thank you all xx

No matter how much you want to stop an addiction and for whatever the reason it is a MASSIVE task so don’t feel guilty for just a minor slip.... otherwise this guilt and depression will become the excuse for you to do it again.
Live for today. Turn the page over to close yesterday’s chapter. The new page is blank and it is down to YOU and YOU alone to decide how today’s page is filled.

Do something positive for yourself today...a long walk, a sunbed session, a trip to the seaside...Recharge and refresh. I know Emily would love to see just the smallest smile from you today.

PS.. then you might want to carry on with GameStop application TODAY.
