    Hi all,

I'm trying to find a board game that my brother might want for Christmas. He was always a fan growing up of games like Risk, Space Crusaders, and Hero Quest. Recently, we've been playing games like Malefiz, Pandemic, and Settlers of Catan. I was just wondering if any of you knew of any board games like that? I've heard The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones board games are ok but want something a bit better.

Also, we've played all the classics like Monopoly, Game of Life, Cluedo, Sorry etc.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    I can recommend:

Articulate - For a bit of brainteasing fun
Rapiddough - an odd adaption of pictionary, where you make things out of dough and others have to guess what it is
Cards against humanity - bad taste and lol!

Bad taste and lol hey? That sounds ideal!

I should also state that my mum also joins in these board games with us and during a rather heated episode of Malefiz she thought my wife called her a bitch! My wife had actually said "I've got an itch"... that was an awkward few minutes!

Can't go wrong with Axis and Allies, although if he is a Risk fan, he may have it already

Don't get cards against humanity if your mother is going to be playing - they are very offensive :)

You're probably right conker. My mother is from Cefn Fforest but I'm not sure they breed them that sturdy up there in the sticks!

I have not seen this on a toy store shelf for years. Perhaps it was deemed ''too non p.c.'' ? But I HIGHLY recommend it, especially if you are a fan of strategy based games.

    Escape from Colditz.

You can still find boxes on e-bay etc. The older versions styill have a swastika on the box, but newer ones replaced that with an eagle.

Thanks for the tips guys. I went for this game called Rummikub but will also look at Axis and Allies. Think one problem-solving game and one strategy game would be a good combo.
