Betway locked account?

Hey guys not really a major problem as I have the id I need to get my account unlocked. The thing is I just found it a little strange that betway locked my account.
I made an account on betway to have a few sports bets on the csgo majors. I only deposited £10 and didn't even take the offered bonus. Then I received an email a day or so later saying my account will be locked unless I can produce id.
I don't have a problem with this but I thought casinos would usually ask for id when you try to cash out.
As you may or may not know csgo has had a lot of problems with underage gambling over the last year and valve the company who owns the game is facing a class action lawsuit in the US.
Now betway are sponsoring twitch streamers to promote their site. How many of these streamers viewers are kids who will make an account just to get that £5 "free" bets that the streamer is promoting.
No wonder betway is locking accounts when they are advertising to children.

Editor's note: Betway was listed as an accredited casino for six years - from 2010 - 2016, and it was unfortunate that they decided to give us a "speak to the hand" gesture when it came to player complaints. Still an OK casino, they could use some better management training. I'll gladly volunteer to square them away. You can read Betway Review with the last updated info about withdrawals.

Kids will never get away from gambling companies advertising, adverts are all the web, on TV, mobile phones, walking along the street, in shops and supermarkets etc.

In the perfect world ALL casino companies should immediately ask for ID and have a guarantee it will be verified within 60 minutes before you can make a deposit, in the meantime you are permitted to play the games for fun. There are many ways companies can verify someone without even asking for ID such as your credit file and electoral role, sadly most don't as the software is very expensive currently. I would have a guess they tried doing it this way automatically but couldn't verify the info so they manually want it from you.

I agree that advertising is everywhere. But betway are sponsoring streamers who's viewership will be mostly children under the age of 18

Outdated URL (timeout)
This survey is a couple of years old but shows the average age of people who play csgo
I have watched these streamers and they make it out like if you go through their referral link then betway are going to give you free cash.
Im pretty sure they would of gained mass underage traffic to their site due to this

The steam should be site as restricted for adults over 18, so if you view it a message should appear informing viewers to confirm age (not that kids will tell the truth anyway) but might be worth reporting the streamer to YouTube.

Many online casinos always make the excuse they check ID due to underage gaming etc, actually you'll find probably 0.01% of people who open an account will be under 18. It's just another excuse for casinos to delay paying out and players being tempted to reverse the withdrawal.

If they where that concerned about underage gambling they shouldn't be taking money until you prove ya age.

The streams are not on youtube they are on twitchtv who is owned by amazon. The streamers have an option to have a "For mature audiences" disclaimer when entering the stream but this does not stop anyone underage from watching.
CSGO has created an unprecedented under age gambling culture because kids can gamble the skins they get their parents to buy them some of which sell for thousands.
This has caused a boom in rouge casinos who pop up take the kids skins and run.
One streamer who was advertising a skin gambling site actually turned out to be the owner of said site and was getting future outcomes from behind the scenes. His stream has been taken down but the guy has made millions

So I took a pic of my id and sent it off to betway today (24hour wait). They said its normal practice for them to ask for id after a deposit despite my friend who made his account at the exact same time as me, on my recommendation lol has not had any hassle over id.
Anyway I asked what would happen if my id was not accepted and they said I would get a refund to my account.
Is that normal practice for a casino to refund someone who cant prove their age, I mean if you won I could see the problem but if you lost money why not just say, Yeah it was little jimmy on my pc again underage gambling on that damb csgo .
