Its an intersting read. The Costarica.com comment is interesting and the last paragraph too:

Ms Jowell will be hosting a summit on online gambling next week, with politicians from 30 countries discussing how to achieve international regulations.

Jetset - do you know more on that?

What is interesting is the amount of prominent people starting to come out and attack this US law. Most have their own agendas, but nonetheless it's encouraging to see not everyone just blindly follows even when they think something is wrong. Tony. ;)

Here's a good one:

Costa Rica, the country which hosts the most internet gambling sites in the world, advertises its "lack" of regulation.

The website costarica.com says: "When you use an online casino based in Costa Rica you are playing at your own risk and you are at the mercy of the online casino's good faith to fulfil its representations.

"Casinos may decide at their own discretion not to pay what you have earned and there is no way you can collect those monies since it is illegal in Costa Rica to collect money based on gambling."

Some time ago some one made fun of me saying I was crazy to state something like this... WELL, IT'S TRUE.. Probably more than 350 sites established here.

Gambling sites in Costa Rica are not regulated, that is true. Never the less, be honest, how many sites endorsed by Kahnawake or Antigua suffer of thousands of complaints on a daily basis??

We are host to all types of gambling sites, from the biggest crooks to the wildest most experienced guys in the industry.

Pokerstars, BetCris, SBG, Sportsbook, BoDog, 5dimes, The Mains Street Vegas Group, Absolute Poker, Truepoker.com, Heritage, etc are some of the names which prove that there are good guys in this industry.

The above mentioned sites do not need endorsment (however some of them do have) from a jurisdiction to prove they are on the right business path.

Most huge operators here have become what they are by pure reliable and honest service. So there operation and backgroud speak for themselves.

The thread in question is here - https://www.casinomeister.com/forum...laying-poker-in-washington-its-a-crime.12393/

You claimed that CR represented a HUGE percentage of the online gambling industry - and that claim is, and continues to be, totally illogical.

No one argued the point that CR may have the most sites - because of its LACK of regulation - but you were making the claim that CR might represent more than 50% of the industry, and you were wrong, plain and simple.

No one made fun of you - they just pointed out inaccuracies in your claims.

Uk opinion

quite interested to read this story which sadly comes from a labour MP whos popularity is the equivelant as george bush atan al queda convention. you will find she is probably speaking from her own pocket as she prob lost a few on partygaming shares and i assure you ALOT of uk MPs do not think like her they realise something had to be done and HAS to be done on the UK to regulate properly.

I only came across this site a couple of weeks ago and what has really SHOCKED me is the lack of regulation in this industry.

I personally only play at the "Big" uk bookies online sites but I was thinking of having a dabble in a few of the sites listed here.

There is absolutely NO WAY I am going to put a single penny into any site other than those that have a big UK land based presence (Bookies or casinos) after what Ive read on this board. The complaints section is so scary its nearly put me off my current sites.

I am a "smallish" online punter, depositing on average 200-300 online for a session. If I ever felt the need to gamble it up with a 1000 or more I would be off to a real casino and wouldn't dare deposit and play that amount online.

This board has really opened my eyes to a quite frankly shocking lack of protection for players and I find it hard to believe anyone who is a member here would risk a significant amount of money in an online casino, even the "well respected ones"

That should

reall be the same for everyone why on earth after reading some of the horrific stories on here would one single person wanna deposit at an online casino or poker room that has its base in costa rica for example it just does not make sense..or another classic is the kahnawake gaming commission i mean for god sake thats just as far as i know an indian tribe set up its own commission and hand out licences to anyone who pays them..My advice would be to anyone stick to UK companies with big brand names ie ,corals, william hill, ladbrokes or some irish companies like boylesports or paddy power where your money is 100% secure.

I think that's a bit extreme.
I do agree these are the very safest, but I certainly would not have any qualms about depositing a large sum at any casino accredited on CM's site (or my own  ). I doesn't matter where they are based or licensed, they have proved themselves to be honest & trustworthy.

PS: Gravedigger! I thought this was a brand new thread for a moment! :p

That is absolutely true KK but it will interesting to see how many people will continue to play at these sites when fully regulated ones are available.
Is there a list available of Casino sites that have applied to the Gambling commision for licenses?
I think this would be a good litmus test of integrity for the Casinos currently out there..

I think the risk of loosing your money at online casinos because of the cheeters and crooks are well overvalued. Even now.
When players face with the 2-day delays of their payments they post complaints on the forums, make calls every hour, shoot tons of emails... but after all, in most cases, they receive their money.

There are a lot of reputable online casinos that have been operating for about 10 years; a lot of casinos regulated by The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, monitored by independent organizations like eCOGRA... Payouts and fairness of the games are monitored by independent auditors (see payouts reports on casino websites) and software providers (Cryptologic, MG,...)
It's just a matter of choice - choose the right casino and play without problems.

Choose the wrong one and get screwed badly.

It should not be a gamble within a gamble whether you get payed when/if you win and all reputable Casinos will welcome regulation, surely?
