All British SOW request issue.

It needed to happen as it was the Wild West.
I agree it’s much too far, but massive changes take time to work.

also had a reply from the ukgc recently regarding the advertising of online casinos in certain ways.

That’s also been monitored and addressed in a big way.
So more changes will be coming.

Personally a system like gamstop should be the norm when you deposit now, prove your income, where it comes from etc before you ur allowed to play.
That would solve this very quickly.

Yes ok if your finance is complex, mine is a tad explain this and await a decision.

Sadly the Wild West of casinos has caused this so they can’t be now crying wolf.
As said also certain ways of promoting casinos is the next thing that will cause massive issues for some.

When you dance with the devil you wait for the music to stop ( and not talking about my mate on the listening top thread)

Dont agree its all the casinos fault, they are in business to make money and would not have been expected
to question deposit levels unless there were definate concerns,it all the do gooders and people who know
fuck all about the industry deceiding how we should be spending our money.
Fine for me to go out and buy a car , speedboat,go on a round the world cruise,no questions asked even if I cant afford it.
Can honestly say that in 20 years I must have played at 50 casinos with no problems at all but did
go over the top at one stage but it was my own doing,I was an adult and free to make my own mistakes
and I dont blame the casinos.

Yes but making a purchase isn’t gambling and should you want finance your credit checked.
In other words if you can’t afford it then really you have no business buying said product.
Why should you be allowed to gamble when you can’t afford it?..

for RG Sow not for AML.
There shouldn't even be a threshold for AML checks.

Sorry I am might be wrong, but I think AML is a total red herring, cant see how its a major problem
and the checks are only being done because the UKGC demands it ,said before I dont know
of a single proven case of ML,the casinos have only been fined for not carrying out the checks to the required
standard , not for allowing it to happen.

Yes but the right way to do it is when a deposit reaches a trigger point, allow the player full access including
withdrawing but block all future deposits with a message saying they cannot be proccessed until the required
documents have been submitted and reviewed... simples

You are wrong, there have been loads of cases of criminal activity leading to penalties and warnings by the UKGC.
AML isn't only a UKGC rule, it's law. Your bank has to follow them, if you go and buy a car, they do, the list goes on.

almost half a million in stolen money to be repaid, and there are loads of similar cases. They are just the ones with actual action taken, and theres a lot more who don't.

If you try to buy a car on finance you can’t afford then the bank says no and The credit companies.

What’s the difference with a casino? Trying to spend £500 for example you can’t afford.

You don’t have a issue or a problem if you are spending within your means.

It’s rightly regulated and I’m all for tighter restrictions.

No but it is law enforcement business if you stole it, and a way of catching you is for suspicious behaviour to be reported.

The problem I have is that most casinos clearly aren't doing AML checks on a risk based approach, which is what they should be doing.

Havnt looked at the link but I bet its nothing to do with actual money laundering, more likely players depositing money stolen from employers. No problem just calling it SOW, AML is just muddying the waters.

which is exactly what the money laundering laws are there for. To prevent anyone using any funds that are not legitimate, you know, like stolen from employers. Maybe if you bothered to read some links you might understand that.

UKGC should just make it so SOW gets done when you sign up as with verification

I know of a few local casinos where if you’re of certain occupations/unemployed they won’t allow you entry
Surely a central system like GamStop can be created where they run initials checks before depositing about your occupation/affordability, I.e upload a payslip/proof of income and work out what is ‘normal’ expenditure (maybe using open banking as well or something) then if anything goes over that limit in future, then you start doing further checks I.e have you changed job, windfall, whatever
then you’re taking care of AML, RG and SOW all at the same time

Fact is, they still allowed £3k of deposits -after-requesting SOW documents. It wouldn’t be hard to just implement a system to take care of all this at the start. Commission needs to step up and sort it otherwise situations like this will go on indefinitely

Well not really, a SoW is only any good on the day it's done. Someone could lose their job the next day and start shoplifting to fund their gambling, staying within the same spending patterns as before.
Problem with having it done by one place is the GDPR to start with, secondly, the law clearly states the business is responsible for these checks. Who should be held responsible if the people doing the checks get it wrong?
You would also have to have every single casino/bookie reporting deposits and withdrawals back to them.

Soft searches or not.still onfile with the credit agency that casinos have checked
Info on you
That has no relevance as YOU are the only person who sees it plus the fact yous agree to said searches on sign up..
The simple solution if it annoys you that much is to cease signing up to new accounts not that will stop previous casinos carrying out further searches to stay within their licence conditions.

LeoVegas allowed me to deposit £500, £500, £500, £500, £500 and cash out £0 without any verification, funny that ;)

Anyway after struggling to even get a 50x bonus on all these supposedly huge potential games (Razor Shark, Jammin Jars, Napoleon, Deadwood, Lil' Devil, you name it I tried it!) I decided enough was enough after that and my next deposit was a 1 year exclusion on GamStop :)
