Getting along during isolation

I'm not so sure. This was a trend a few years ago - would hate to see it resurrected.

Also a new trend is to cut a cat's fur into a pattern so it looks like a dragon. Another trend I hope is very short lived.

As far as I am concerned, both of these trends are as close to abuse it gets without actually being abuse.

Horrible.

Like this you mean

@paul7388 - glad it gave you a laff. As a dedicated cat hater, I just knew you would think this is funny. I'll be around to yours very soon with my favourite pair of scissors to give you the haircut you deserve...:axeman:
Just joking....I think... :D

However, to be fair - there is a show on TV at the moment, hosted by Rebel Wilson, called "Pooch Perfect" and in one of the episodes, I believe the dogs are groomed to look like...gasp...horror...oh no...CATS!

And then you have this...

Doesn't matter to me if it is a dog or a cat, I think it is dreadful.

My kids found a nice short cartoon about a cat and a dog this morning I would like to share.........

Was going to post in the 'today i feel good' thread but thought some pet lovers might like it also.

It may have had a happy ending, but it was heart-rending to watch. So many homeless, discarded and abused animals out there.

Are you sure this is suitable for kids? Certainly had me fighting back a tear or two.

To be honest they selected it from Disney + Pixar shorts. No certificate or advisory and when they called me in all i saw was from where the dog and cat escape and become friends. It ddnt look any worse than Fantastic Mr Fox or Bambi.

Ill watch it later before they do again and check. Thanks for the heads up.

The fine beast isn’t my friend still.
yesterday me and my daughter had the water pistols out. We decided sox had turned into a ‘zombie dog’ as we where hunting zombies in the garden, the only way to save said zombies was blast them with cold water.
Sox got blasted... I do have a video of this but it won’t download on here.
so my friend sox since yesterday has snubbed me.. she did however have some lamb from dinner, fickle much.
typical women lol

Just wondering pet lovers, hound lovers in particular..
I’ve googled so called ‘human foods’ ok for dogs.
anyone here ever attempted or actually fed there dog human food? Since this pandemic Sox has been walked lots, more then usual yet always seems more hungry, I avoid crappy treats but was thinking maybe more protein she needs? She’s a stocky well built girl naturally, was thinking maybe mix her dry food with some steak or other normal human proteins.
just can’t seem to fill her of late and I won’t give her snacks..

Must admit, I am a bit of a Weeping Wanda when it comes to anything to do with homeless animals - cartoons included - so it is probably fine for anyone with a bit more backbone than Moi! :)

My friend has a Staffy called Doughnut. He has always eaten the leftovers of meals. Literally anything and everything, as far as i know, from a family of 5 in addition to his own food.

Not sure of his age but i know its a ripe one and whilst a bit sluggish now he is still going strong.

Our neighbour had a Westie that we looked after one year when the lady went on holiday. We expected dog food but instead got 7 fully prepared dinners fit for human consumption. One was a nearly complete roast dinner and all came in microwaveable dishes. Talk about a spoilt pooch.

I have known other dog owners that can feed their dogs mainly chicken and rice and thats about it.

Their like humans, all shapes and sizes and each with their own dietary wants and needs. Their stomachs can handle most food i believe apart from the usual chocolate, raisins etc.

Edit: Thought I had better back my belief with a little fact:

The dogs have strong hydrochloric acid in their stomach to digest meat and even bones. The acid is about 10 times stronger in concentration than what we have in our stomach. ... Also, the overall length of the gastrointestinal tract of a dog is much shorter in comparison to a humans

Having a shorter tract means food passes quicker which is also more beneficial to a healthier stomach.

A very good, factual post from Cakey with some very good suggestions.

Perhaps you need to turn this on its head, and google human foods that should never be given to dogs? The assumption that anything not on the list should be OK.

Here's one to get you started..

Think the problem with giving food to a lot of dogs these days is a lot of them are so pure bred these days everything harms them.

Remember when i was young. Used to give the dogs anything. So did everyone i know with their dogs.

They would get bars of chocolate which is supposedly poisonous. Crisps ,ice cream , biscuits , kebabs , chips anything you threw them they wolved down . And they lived long healthy lives.

Have you tried her with raw chicken wings on the bone? Chicken is fine on the bone for dogs uncooked but slowly introduce them , maybe one every few days if she doesn't normally have raw meat.

Add chopped up veggies to her meals, broccoli, shredded carrot, green beans, spinach, apples, cabbage - all good for dogs but watch out for the backlash (wind)

My dogs get chopped carrots for treats, none of the processed crap!

Sulking as had a bad tummy and has been denied a treat in the form of a gravy bone or denta stick.
Also slobbering all over my true religion bottoms....

Friend has a doggie that has a very temperamental stomach and the Vet basically said to feed him 'proper' chicken - no treats, no nothing; so the pooch is costing her a fortune with a constant stock of roast chicken. Spoke to them tonight (2 metre away obviously) and seems to have calmed it down - sadly for the dog it's pretty permanent so no more treats, ever :(

Take her if you want. Overly affectionate, far too cuddly and needy and prone to biting other hounds.
Has to sleep on your bed and ruin your duvet and sleep pattern.
Smiles occasionally..
As said sox is free to a good home!..

lol, im fairly certain you wouldnt part with her :p
That’s a given.
As we speak she’s made a ‘nest ‘ on my bed as per usual.
Which means she’s the cozy side with the draft from my window, all huddled up.
I’ll get into my one bed and be cold as sox has the best bits and the duvet is a mess..
would I change it..
would I fuck lol, Sox is superb

Just had short walk, well more of a jog.
Had the beast off her lead as the roads are dead.
Just sat on my new rug in my lounge and I was savagely attacked!..

I can't wait for my new fur baby coming on Friday - a baby weasel!

Be prepared to be inundated with pics :)
A few years ago, was driving home from Evesham, and this thing dashed across the road. Had to look it up but realised we had been privileged to see a weasel.

All I can really remember is that it looked like a furry pencil. :eek2:

So I will ask - why a weasel?

I had chinchilla's previously and wanted something a tad different again so did some pretty intensive research after someone I know had a litter. She has two sisters, followed by a rescued male and boy are they so much fun, follow my mate everywhere and want to join in everything she does, inquisitive, mischevious, intelligent and just a bundle of fun - whom sleep for about 18-20 hours a day.

She asked me if I wanted one of her litter so guess what, ickle Sheba is coming to stay on Friday. I have had a special secure enclosure built for Athens (my python) to ensure they never meet nor see eachother as it can stress weasel's out just a mere glimpse of a snake .

I have never seen such a wee creature move so fast, even at days old so let the fun commence

ah, pets and fun morning chores
wake, first thing I do is put out the pets.

2 min later bloody cat drags in a mourning dove by the wing, at least half his size; got it outside but then feathers everywhere.

Last night, put the dogs out, didnt see the raccoon in the yard, which the dog promptly got up the fence, so of course the cat has a bit of a go at it too

fun times :P

Just a normal pigeon scares the living animal hell out of mine Shame their isn’t no raccoons round here:laugh:

*sigh
that's about....6 mice this week; tonight's, missing it's head
glad he's a great mouser, though instead of taking them out, he's draggin' them in

the birds are probably breathing a sigh of relief for the break though :P
