Well over the past decade or so regulation has really got its teeth into the online gambling industry, which in the main is a very good thing, as it provides players with protections that previously they did not have.

However, with regulation has come also what can be a world of pain, think source of wealth, kyc and other intrusive forms and documentation players are compelled to provide. Then there are acts such as banning autoplay and introducing bet size limits, which many see as detrimental to their online experience.

Further we have seen many operators decide to 'give up' their UKGC licence, thus reducing the choice for UK players.

So my question is, where or what do you see as the future for online gambling and specifically online casinos.

My only personal opinion, is that offshore 'unregulated' gaming is going to grow, while the number of operators within the regulated space will continue to contract in size.

Spot on. Offshore unregulated gaming will grow IMPO. If anyone follows the UKGC's lead, players will leave their regulated jurisdictions in droves.

Most of the casinos these days operate without a licence. Most of the licencing jurisdictions are also in bed with their clients.

Online Gambling is a complete mess at this time. All we need to do is look at the amount of scam casinos that are in operation... and... they are growing by the day.

The UKGC have systematically destroyed the very industry they pretend to care about. It is clearly run by people who have never played these games in their lives, and who believe all gamblers are degenerate wasters who have absolutely no self-control.

Regulation is good from a player-protection standpoint, but it is overbearing now and I agree with both @Nate and @Webzcas - it is only going to get worse in the licensed jurisdictions, and thus more and more people will go offshore. The UK industry will completely collapse as the UKGC desperately scrambles to try to solve the very problem they are wilfully creating, and we will return to the dark days of a completely unregulated iGaming world where countless players are ripped off by scammers.

Not only the UKGC, the KSA did the same in the Netherlands
When I just read this I was wondering why Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would want to destroy gambling specifically in the Netherlands.

It took a few seconds too long to realise my stupidity
