.xyz goes live 9:00 AM PDT

I have to admit I have an addiction for purchasing domain names, not sure why, maybe hoping I'll get one that might someday bring a big payday or a great site to operate. Highly unlikely but it has happened for others.

There's been a big release lately of new extensions but I personally think .xyz is the best in the group. I preregistered five of them months ago, probably won't get any but today's the day to find out from what I'm reading. I'd be happy if I get just one of the five registered.

Anyone else waiting for their .xyz outcome?

To be honest, I think all these different extensions are a waste of web-space and should be stopped or severely limited due to the potential damage they can do to existing operators.
For example, someone could buy "CasinoMeister.xyz" and set up a fake copy site to trick people into using their links.

Having said that, I too got a bit carried away and bought up several .com & .co domains which I have never used. I did PLAN to, but just keeping 4 sites vaguely up-to-date is already more than I can comfortably handle alone, so I doubt they will ever see the light of day.
At my last count I have 4 active sites, 4 inactive sites (no updates for 2+ years) and 10 really good domain names which I don't use (except for re-directs - and some of those are surprisingly good )

I kind of see your point but all the good domains are bought up and many unused therefore a need for new extensions. For the record Casino Meister as referenced has a trademark, he's covered.

I personally didn't register any gambling related .xyz domains but rather popular words within the top 25 sold domain names on record as of 2013. Generic terms.

I went for five and it appears I've been awarded one so I'm happy.
