Why do some casinos request documents, whilst others don't (ie 32Red)?

(just realised this is a bit of a long one)

I made a withdrawal earlier from 32Red of well over £1k.
There was an issue/concern (from what I could see) with the initial withdrawal because I had only just reopened my account with them last week after an almost 2 year hiatus, and the online form still listed my (2 year) old address, telephone number and email.
Anyway, I spoke to a rather nice woman on live chat who told me just to change the details and request the withdrawal. I asked which documents I am required to email to support/security (no problem as I have all documentation here ready to send). She said "all is well" at her end and to just make the withdrawal. I did, she flushed it there and then; job done.

Now I know I'm not a fraudster, I AM me. But I don't ever remember sending 32Red any verification documents even years ago when I first opened the account. And even if I had, I'm using a brand new card to deposit these days, I have all new details right down to my phone number, so why don't I need to provide documentation to prove my identity? Any time I change cards at other casinos, they ask me to send scanned copies of the front and back of the new card. I have even (at 2 different accredited casinos) been asked to get a letter from my bank confirming that I am indeed the owner of the previous card! That one in particular is infuriating seeing as it takes a bank around 10 working days to get said letter out to me :/

I'm not complaining in the slightest by the way, I'm just curious. Why do some casinos make me jump through hoops while others don't? Do 32Red (and I'm sure there are others) have other ways/means of verifying me?

32red

32red requested them from me...ive been depositing for 10 years at there site.

till today ..lol

anyone have a good suggestion for a Canadian that deposit's daily.....

32red

i also sent the docs to them by request after my 1st withdrawal,

they paid me but they ask for my docs (but they paid 1st and only asked for docs after)

Sometimes ask..sometimes not..specially when you deposit/cashout (same) with a payment processor like Skrill for example..
32Red requested my docs after 2 or 3 cashouts// Some casinos (PaddyPower) request documnets before depositing first time - Best situation I think..
Sometimes I send the docs without casino request.. Every casino with their rules..

Now I know I'm not a fraudster, I AM me.

I don't believe you.

I guess, again, it's just the human/common sense element you get @ 32Red and some of the better places. Sometimes they'll need ID, sometimes everything stacks up. I'm guessing you maybe deposited with a 'Verified by Visa' card or the same primary email address as your Moneybookers account... Something like that. Something that stacks up.

In house support goes a long way as well. When the support is outsourced or hosted at the software provider centrally, they have to follow a process, and processes are never good news if you want something to happen quickly.

I posted a similar question some months ago as a newbie member and got some very helpful advice about reading the terms & conditions when you sign up to a new casino which will often give you a good idea of the verification docs they are likely to ask for.So far the only casino that has asked me for docs is 888.If you are uk based & the casino has a presence in this country they can probably verify you from the electoral roll and as already pointed out by the 'verified by visa' screen that presents itself when you deposit.

Why is it a problem that they request you some documents? Especially when you have committed a bonus.

It's not a problem in the slightest. In fact I would prefer casinos to request documentation, so I am fully verified and feel totally comfortable playing and (hopefully) withdrawing to my heart's content.
I only questioned why some casinos do, whilst others don't ;)

Not sure. Had played thousands upon thousands at Betfred, including high figure withdrawals, and no documents ever requested. But just made my first high value (ish) withdrawal at Mr Green and they are asking for a multitude of documentation. I have no problem providing, as like you, am fully legit and have nothing to hide, but is interesting as to why some are so into it and others are not. Delay tactics play a part, I think, I'm sorry to say.

RedBet allowed me to deposit £500, and then locked my account (as far as depositing is concerned - I could happily play away with my balance), until I verified myself.
I didn't mind that at all. What annoys me is when casinos allow you to deposit endlessly without limit, and then only ask for documents when you attempt your first withdrawal. They say it's to protect the player or whatever, but they aren't so concerned when they are making money off said player. I agree that it is simply stalling tactics.

this is the main problem with online gaming , ive never had any problems with redbet good group imho but there are a few others that made my blood boil & its all the same problem although theyve had clear copys of id docs , they then go onto needing copys of deposits from where the money has come from ie... neteller , theres realy know need for this if my bills & id are the same this is proof enough of whome i am , i can name just of the top of my head 4 casinos to where ive made depsoits all still requiring me to update a copy of neteller deposit to which i havnt done , theyve had the money i realy dont see that they need even more info .
