That's a very low average and unfair to Videoslots. Yes RTP nerfing is rife, but a figure around 93-94% is much more realistic - far from ideal, but realistic.
It's interesting what you say about your 'go to' casino as another option to VS, I also tend to use Pokerstars casino instead. I tend to stick to playing there during the million dollar race so just a week out of the month but I do feel the satisfaction of playing top RTP's which relaxes my experience more, even though I'm still at the mercy of variance.
I've literally just completed another XP wheel at VS which achieved level 140 - after that, I thought I'd leave them for a while as the RTP thing has been weighing on my mind. I've been playing on a top stake of 50p averaging 40p a spin for a couple of years now, prior to that I was a £1-£2 spinner before the RTP nerfing became industry standard. Interestingly, I normally deposit £200 each time, which can go pretty quickly on a bad run on 40p/50p stakes.
I have a debate going on in my mind as to whether I would be *much* better off playing at say Pokerstars in the long run. I've not done any maths so could be wide of the mark here, but comparing the level up procedure at Poker stars - the bar progression after a couple of chests is quite slow and your reward is only a few loyalty points and maybe 6 - 20 free spins on a slot. They offer you the odd free chest over the weekend for a few free spins and sometimes a free £5 with a small amount of wagering which is negligible.
So, I'm gaining more play time through the better RTP's at Pokerstars, but comparative rewards in terms of free spins are still lower than at VS if you participate in all free rolls / frenzy's etc (when they work). Then, you have to account for the more major enticements of VS - the weekend booster, if you play quite a lot, then that can for me, come in at around £20-£30 a week. Add to that the wheels, yes they are diminished in the amount of times you can win them, and also add the big one for me, no charges on deposits whereas I'm losing £5-6 on a deposit at pokerstars on a £200 amount, then another charge if you are lucky to withdraw....
I just wonder how much these things offset the lower RTP's at VS. I'm quite a savvy player and will try not to play the lower RTP's at VS on my go to games, but I was surprised how quickly I went back to VS after achieving my XP wheel for level 140 and vowing to stay off them. I managed to last 2 nights at Pokerstars before returning to VS. I'm not saying they are great and advocating them but they are still streets ahead with their entire package offerings compared to other sites and the RTP is something you have to accept, and choose games carefully with.
