ATTN: Casino Rep Videoslots account hacked and cleaned out, but unable to report

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, while I was in bed, someone hacked my Videoslots account and emptied it out to a bank/card that isn't mine - they even played my 100 free spins and took the winnings from that too!

I've seen that others have had a similar experience with VS, but my biggest issue right now is that I've been trying to report it for over 24 hours but still no-one is answering! I spent almost 2.5 hours waiting on chat yesterday, but even using keywords like "Fraud" didn't get anyone's attention. Nor did an "urgent" email with a heading making it clear what had happened.

I'm hoping that the Casino Rep here will get things moving, but surely they should have a better way of doing things - or have I just been dim and missed it?

I'm starting to feel nervous about the balance I have sitting in the VS vaults.

(Also as a non-UK player, still no option for MFA on my account.)

It does seem to be happening a lot lately.

More questions as to how a withdrawal was permitted to a different bank/card to the verified one/original deposit source!

Without saying too much that might be helpful to other would-be hackers, they clearly knew what they were doing and how to get around the closed loop system, but they also left heavy footprints that VS security should have flagged before allowing the withdrawal.

I’m still waiting for VS to update my banking withdraw details ; and apparently they can’t change your bank details …. We are at around 10 weeks ….

Yet in your case a bank card that’s never been used for a deposit , and withdraw to this unverified card , surely breaking their own procedures for “closing the loop”. Is AI letting stuff slip through or someone on the Payments team @Team.Videoslots on the take ? Or they are just feckless with security ?

Hi @hubbadubbadingdong

We've sent you a DM.

Kind Regards,
Team Videoslots.

Yes as a true fan of VS, even im starting to wobble and getting a little worried, please up your game on this security nightmare ASAP!

And sorting out your clearly useless live chat ( bot ) should be a priority too so that your customers can get action way sooner than having to rely on support emails or come to somewhere like CM to get help.

Forgive me, but I did have a small chuckle at this bit. I mean that's just bang out of order.

Hope you get it sorted 😀

It does add a certain theatrical flourish to the proceedings.

Criminals so chilled out about not being caught they hang around to actually play some slots before taking the money.

Hey everyone,

We are currently working on this issue and have identified around 30 cases so far.

The scammers have recently changed their methods, and our investigation suggests that phishing and compromised devices may be involved. It appears they are now able to steal session cookies from players’ devices, allowing them to make login attempts appear as though they are coming from the players’ own devices.

We strongly recommend that everyone enables two-factor authentication (2FA) to help protect their accounts.

Starting tomorrow, we will also be introducing stricter security measures, including more frequent 2FA verification during login. This means many of you may notice additional verification requests, so please make sure your registered phone number is up to date.

We take this very seriously and are continuing to investigate and strengthen our security measures to protect our players.

Its the ultimate piss take but can't help laugh

I remember my mate Mark (RIP) who's house was burgled whilst he was in Thailand - he actullay witnessed the burglars sat on his couch going through his blue-ray collection and discussing what ones would be worth flogging/what should be left as not worth anything. He was extremley annoyed - I still laugh about it now.

I don't think you will be the last ones to get hit with this - seams to be quite prevelant at the moment

Is 2FA going to be available for the global market too?

Apart from stealing cookies ; which has been an issue for a long time , and 2fa will prevent some login issues - Why are your payments team or security allowing a new card to be added and able to withdraw to same card. The security measures that are in place to stop this type of fraud was put in place for that very reason. Even if every player logs on with enhanced 2fa, if this gets by passed your internal checks , will fail.

Does this mean all and any anti-money laundering, fraud protection and closed loop is no longer a procedure ? Or clearly compromised internally at VS.

You clearly have a catastrophic failure of internal controls ; if VS payments team was running correctly , the withdrawal would not even be possible.

What are the reasons to the closed loops backstop failing ?

Sorry to say your payments team are honestly the worse, in my own case they cannot update withdrawal details , and have told me it’s IMPOSSIBLE to do (Note you told me the same thing in January and I got the COO of YOUR own business partner Gigadat to contact VS to walk you through how to fix , yes eventually got fixed it took 4 months, 10 weeks ago I sent the same instructions and contact details of COO of Gigadat to the payments team and STILL could not do, And clearly emailing the Chief Operating Officer was clearly too complicated a task to resolve !)

If the payments team can not perform a very SIMPLE task to the withdrawal process, changing details, I am not shocked you are having failures with other basic payment team task , I predict this will get worse

Around 30–35% of our customers add and use multiple payment methods, so this is perfectly normal behaviour and not something that should automatically be considered suspicious.

Regarding the recent attacks, the issue has primarily involved one specific payment method, Trustly. As the attackers have managed to gain access to customers’ devices and sessions, they have been able to operate within what appears to be a legitimate customer session.

When customers deposit using payment methods that do not support withdrawals, we must provide an alternative way for them to withdraw their funds, such as a bank withdrawal through Trustly. Unfortunately, this is one of the methods the criminals have been targeting.

As mentioned previously, we are already working with payment providers to introduce automated verification of customers’ KYC details through API integrations. This will allow us to perform additional verification of withdrawal details and further strengthen our protection against these increasingly sophisticated attacks.

I also want to highlight something important: To date, no customer has suffered any financial loss as a result of these attacks. In every case where criminals have successfully withdrawn funds, we have refunded the affected customer in full, and we will continue to do so. Protecting our customers is our priority, and we remain committed to ensuring that customers are not financially affected when they become victims of these types of criminal activities.

Our AML, fraud prevention and closed loop procedures remain in place. However, cybercriminals are constantly developing new techniques, and we continuously review and enhance our security measures to address emerging threats.

Regarding your own case, I’m not familiar with the details, but I will personally look into it during the day to better understand the situation and why it has taken so long to resolve.

Please be aware that these apps are fake and are not affiliated with Videoslots or Mr Vegas. We strongly advise everyone in the UK not to download or install them, as they appear to be phishing apps designed to compromise your personal information.

We have not yet launched our official app in the UK. It is scheduled for release during November.

We will announce the official launch once the app is available. In the meantime, please stay cautious and only follow links provided through our official website.

I’ve now looked into your case and can clarify what is causing the issue.

We use a third-party payment aggregator between Videoslots and Gigadat to offer their payment services. Unfortunately, the aggregator is currently preventing the withdrawal details from being updated.

The issue is therefore not with our payment team or Gigadat directly, but with a restriction at the aggregator level. We are actively working with the aggregator to get this resolved so that your details can be updated.

I understand your frustration, especially given how long this has been ongoing. While the technical issue is outside our direct control, we are following up with the aggregator to find a solution as soon as possible.

This is completely WRONG, Your staff have forgotten how to do and it is not a “technical” issue it is a PICNIC issue

Your team was able to resolve same issue when raised in January, granted it took them 4 months …. after your payments team eventually contacted Gigadat they went over how to complete,,fixed in a day

History repeats its self about 10 weeks ago the COO of Gigadat confirmed to me and VS support via email . told you how to resolve (literally highlight my current account number and press “delete” , and repeat )

Do you really think a 3rd party payments facilitator would not allow people to change banking details ? really ? I don’t think they would be in business very long if that was the case ..

Gigadat also stated if you (VS Payments) are having difficulty or the delete keys are not working correctly on their software - Then contact Gigadat immediately and they will remind your staff how to use if they have forgotten again; I have not been given a reason why you have not contacted Gigadat to resolve - I am very close to contacting the COO of Gigadat again to express my disappointment they have given access to a system where the casino have failed to be trained on it or don’t care enough and are slandering Gigadat as a bad third party partner , when it VS lack of follow through. Maybe you guys don’t need Gigadats services - Happy to pass this on if you wish

I believe there is still a misunderstanding regarding how the payment integration works on our side.

As I explained previously, we do not connect directly to Gigadat. We use a third-party payment aggregator that facilitates the integration between Videoslots and Gigadat.

While Gigadat may support updating banking details directly within their own system, this does not necessarily mean the same functionality is available through the aggregator we use. The restriction we are currently experiencing is at the aggregator level, not with Gigadat itself.

I understand that you previously had this resolved with assistance from Gigadat, and I appreciate you sharing that information. However, the fact that a similar issue was resolved previously does not automatically mean the underlying cause is the same this time.

We are already working with the aggregator to resolve this. There is no reason to question our payments team's willingness or ability to assist, as they are dependent on the functionality provided through our payment integration.

I appreciate your frustration, especially given the time this has taken, but I can assure you that we are following up on the matter and want to get it resolved just as much as you do.
