I'm just curious about the betting styles of others at video poker.
I usually only play Jacks or Better (single, sometimes four-hand), max bet, but vary coin sizes from 50p, £1, £2, and £5 as opposed to playing the same value coin throughout the session.
Now I know the house has the edge at JorB, and each bet regardless of coin size, carries that same edge. But my reasoning is that if you play the same coin size without varying, eventually the house edge will eventually eat up your diminishing bank roll. However, if you jump to higher value coins throughout the session, when you hit the winning hands, they're obviously worth a lot more, giving you the chance of making a decent score before quitting.
Case in point. Sunday I was varying between £1, £2 and £5 coins at Crazy Vegas single line JorB when I was dealt a Royal Flush... with £5 coins! (a 650,000-1 shot apparently).
Three days later, at a sister site (and where I'd had a poor streak), coins initially varied from 50p to £2, before swapping to £1, £2 and £5 when I discarded my first five cards and got dealt a Royal Flush... with £5 coins!
I've hit Royals before (three for 20k) but I know that getting two so close together was lucky, as was upping my bets at the right time. But does anyone else habitually change coin value during sessions, or do you stick to the one value regardless?
I'd welcome others' opinions!
PS Does anyone know of an RTG casino that offers $2 coins at VP? Normally you have to jump from $1 to $5 without the inbetween denomination that most others offer.
