Well I figured it was coming - but this is the FIRST I have seen of it.

I'm seriously thinking about joining up as an affiliate - I mean - It's legal - LMAO!

This has been news for some time - do a search on Casinomeister News for more detail - Betfair owns the US company, and the online aspect is part of the inequitable legislative carve-outs enjoyed by horse racing, fantasy sports and state lotteries in the USA.

This site has been legal since 1999.

You have to live in certain States to be able to wager there, they even have there own cable channel, TVGnetwork

It is without a doubt the best place to wager and watch Horse racing.

If you plan to sign-up here just make sure your State is allowed...

Wagering services are currently offered in California, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

My Significant Other and I use Twinspires (Churchill Downs owned). Being in Texas we couldn't join YouBet and, I think at the time, TVG. We can't bet online any of the tracks in Texas but are good to go for the rest. They also have a TV station.

Funny how we can bet the ponies online but not play slots. :(

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Law has been repealed and will go into effect June 1 of this year.

If they are talking about the UIGEA regulations, which were postponed until June 1st, the implementation of these should not affect the issue as the drafters of the UIGEA were careful to keep existing carve-outs intact to avoid pissing off certain favoured industries....and keep the individual states sweet by reassuring them that their autonomy to make laws for their states would remain intact.

The only thing that is likely to overturn the damned UIGEA is new federal laws like Barney Frank's HR2267, or at state levels individual decisions by state legislatures to allow certain forms of online gambling....poker, for example, which is under debate in Florida and California, and (along with sportsbetting) in New Jersey. I think Delaware is making inroads as well. And there are rumours that Senator Harry Reid in Nevada is about to launch a new proposal favouring the legalistion of poker.

The US legislative system certainly complicates trying to keep track of what is and is not legal:eek2:

There's a way to simplify it. Just look at each Senators accounts and see who funds their campaigns. If these include land-based casinos, sportsbooks etc then online gambling is illegal in that State.

Even that tongue-in-cheek approach can be misleading - Harrah's is all for internet gambling; the AGA is (now) neutral on the issue; and Steve Wynn is - or was - agin' it. MGM and Sands seem to be more against than for right now, although I'm sure that could quickly change at the prospect of a protectionist and legalised market.

As AGA chief Fahrenkopf observed not too long ago - the big Vegas land companies appear to be divided on the issue.
