He's got strong nerves just to stay on his feet, think I would've needed new trousers. Poor sod needs to get out of that city if he can, no good getting vaporised or even injured by shrapnel and have a lifetime of suffering.

Some headlines about peace talks progress, which is good, but can't help feeling sad/angry it will be on the back of all the dead. If a deal can be reached soon with concessions it could've been before.

It's ok, the Thought Police are watching to tell us what we are allowed to think and say if we step out of line.

After all, the lines are so blurred it's easy to step across.

I don't think Transexuals should be allowed to compete, there is a natural physical advantage. One solution - Trans sporting events, but I wonder if that would be classed as discriminative in this topsy turvy world.

It most certainly is a sensitive subject. Seems even the media are scared to have an opinion on certain subjects.

I like the woman in the video who when asked if she is a biologist, says 'no, I'm also not a vet, but I know what a dog is'

Hmm.. I don't think there's a physical advantage if a woman becomes a man tho. They won't be able to compete at all.

And why should people not be allowed to compete in their sport just because they're transexuals? It's not like they undergo all those tests, treatments and the transitional surgeries just to be better at sports than others.

Now, don't get me wrong that I understand that there might be advantages in certain (most?) sports but then there should be regulations implemented by the governing bodies. Moreover, show me (except in this single collegiate case) results of these women in pro sports. I can't think of anyone.

A woman who becomes a man would probably not make it to a professional standard in any sport where physiological differences offer an advantage.

I remember not so long back, last year sometime there was a couple, one for running and I can't remember the other sport.

I suppose it depends on the sport also as you say, trouble is, apart from darts, cricket, snooker and similar, I can't think of many sports where it does not seem unfair, not saying that's a bad thing, but imagine training hard for years to now find you are unable to compete, no matter how you train. It's a conundrum to say the least.

Has Trump actually been ill-advised in this particular instance, as it sounds more like a hill he is choosing to die on.

Probably many others, but these are two notable recent examples I remember well.

I must admit, I find McKinnon's arguments for allowing Trans women to compete in women's sports spurious in the extreme, e.g., she believes that very tall women competing against short women in certain sports (basketball, netball, volleyball, etc.,) is "allowing competitive advantages through natural characteristics."

Too bad she doesn't level the same criticism against men's sports.

Lia Thomas was a nowhere placement in men's swimmming events, until she became a woman. It wouldn't have mattered how hard her training was as a man, she had gone as far as she could.

Many of her female competitors have been training hard for years, steadily progressing upwards through the ranks, but are now nowhere placements since she came onto the scene.

I know who I have more sympathy for, and that is for women who are being displaced from their own sports.

Ah, Covid Marshalls. They were great weren't they? someone should have sent out the call, they'd have been scrambling around in their bedsits for their little high-vis jackets, and be put to good use here, keeping law & order. Or more likely to clean up the strewn cups and discarded Swatch packaging :eek:
