Summer is around the corner and I am planning to improve my grilling skills. Went to the local store and asked for a Gas Charcoal Combo and they never heard of it. When I lived in the states, we had a nice gas grill (I can't remember which brand) that had a rack to put charcoal briquettes on top, for that extra nice flavour.
Does anyone know what I am talking about?
Does anyone have a tip on how I can buy a gas grill and adapt it so that I use charcoal as well?
I know that there are inserts which hold charcoal on the side of the surface. The charcoal warms up a little and you get some smoke out of them. But this seems too simple of a solution, I am thinking of something more DYI and complicated -like adding a removable ash tray, covering the gas tubes so that the ash does not fall on them and clog them.
