I'm not sure that story is accurate. I just don't see how or why the US Gov't would (or even be able to) keep this under wraps. It would be by far in their best interest to publicize the case as a deterrent to every other company. Any time a processor has been shut down, the US gov't has been very glib (and, may I add, giddy) about it.
It could be Ewallet is hiding behind this "rumor" as they have mismanaged/stolen/had embezzled the funds.
There are many thinking this.
1) Why, uniquely in this case, no bragging from the DoJ?
2) Why operators in the know are saying "I cannot comment"
3) This email sent to operators with "the truth". Why such EXTRAORDINARY efforts to keep this from leaking out to PLAYERS
Conspiracy theory....
1) DoJ actually had nothing to do with this.
2) Operators KNOW this is complete BS, but are looking after No1, and hope that by keeping quiet about what they have figured out they stand more chance of getting their own money back from EWX.
3) Cleverest of the lot. Send the email about a seizure to operators, then seek to keep it secret, but knowing damn well it will leak out sooner or later.
When it leaks, players ASSUME it is the "real truth" simply because of the obvious attempts to keep it secret. Now, the mere fact that EWX tried to hide this gets it general acceptance as being "the real truth" behind the "technical issues" line being spun by their CS.
Once players have what they believe is the truth, they will stop digging - well, thats the theory, except that in this case there are a few players who have NOT "bought this", and are STILL "digging", and finding a number of glaring inconsistencies between THIS "seizure", and all the others.
Only time will tell, since the money is gone anyway, we just can't be sure WHERE at the moment.
We also don't know whether the EWX freeze was what set off a chain of events that lead to the "massive system failure" that took Rushmore so long to fix. Whilst Rushmore are now paying out the backlog, we may not appreciate how close to the edge this situation was, and maybe the risk of not seeing the money was very real, and Rushmore managed to overcome it to save their skin.
