Most people from Canada will know Frankie, the lead singer of Teenage Heads famous punk band. Frankie was a great friend and will be missed. Frankie died yesterday after a short battle with cancer. Teenage head will be honoured this month for the lifetime Achievement Award at The Music Awards held here in Hamilton. RIP my friend, see you on the other side...

Damn Patrina, I know you're in Hamilton. But did you ever come to Toronto to see Teenage Head years ago? Many a New Year's Eve I spent with them at a bar on Carlton Street, which has since been demolished. And I'll be damned if I can remember the name, lol.

Not the Nickelodeon, not the Piccadily Tube. WTF was it? It was a real dive, but a total blast.

Too bad about Frankie...he was a Canadian legend for sure. Teenage Head were awesome.

I got it!! LMFAO....had to call a girlfriend of mine who lives downtown and ask her...."wtf was the name of that place across from Maple Leaf Gardens....where Teenage Head used to play all the time".

IT'S LARRY'S HIDEAWAY!!!

Gawd, that was driving me insane. It was a battle as to who would drink your beer first....the cockroaches, the rats or you, lmaooo..

But talk about a party...pretty sure I spent three New Year's Eves there.

Ha ha...just went to YouTube, and if I'd gone there earlier, I would have had the name of the bar. Just like me, some guy commented about how many times he had seen them at Larry's Hideaway, lol

Couple of videos for you Patrina:

Let's Shake

Wild One

There's one there for Disgusteen as well...but the quality is atrocious.

Probably one of the absolute best bar bands ever!! RIP Frankie.

Thanks so much Pinababy! I really appreciate that you took the time to load those. Great guy and yes awesome band. Still rocked. When I went to see them at Whiskey Joes, I couldn't believe they were just as good (if not better) then they were, dare I say, way back when? Were not that old right? Anyway, he was best friends with my "just recent" ex and about 10 yrs ago he was at my place and my daughter and her friend "Tommy" were their as well. We were all jamming away and then Frankie was trying to show Tommy how to play, the kids were about 9 or so, Tommy didn't fair so well, but, I kept asking him, c'mon Frank give Alyssa a try! (my daughters name) and after about an hr of me bugging him, he did. He did a riff and lo and behold, she did it right back, "exactly" He looked at me with such a look of shock and dismay, I'll never forget it. "The kids got it," he said, "a natural." Now she's 19 and lead singer/lead guitarist of a band called Rakula. They just won 3 golds in the readers choice awards. Best Band, Best Band name and most likely to succeed. I am so proud of her. She is doing everything I wanted to. And not just because I'm partial, but she is going to make it. They are already on the radio, she does radio interviews all the time and pack the house every time they play. They have a CD out too. She broke down pretty hard when I told her he passed. They are holding a vigil at Victoria park tonight. Although he was true grit punk rock, that image doesn't give him enough justice, he was so sweet and good hearted. Always giving me a little gift here and there. And he loved my daughter. He was a big influence for her. So sad.. but what's even sadder is that they were coming back strong, they did some work with Marky Ramone and they did that Omni t.v.promo. You know the one, they had it on all the time, they used the song "Let's go" "some kinda fun" I know you know what I'm talking about. It's not exactly a commercial but an intro to the weekly shows? I forget what they call that. Anyway, yep, I remember Larrys Hideaway, seen them alot of different places. I opened a rock club back in 91 called Manhattans, in Burlington, and I booked them and Goddo. Fabulous show. Frankie never lost it, even with throat cancer. Gave us alot of good shows and memories..
Patrina "somethin on my mind" My fav

I remember seeing them for the first time at my Frosh Week dance at Centennial College in 1977. We booed and threw baked potatoes!! The band encouraged this behaviour from us.

Caught them at Larry's Hideaway too. My then boyfriend and I actually stayed at this dive one time. I'd just come up for the day, and rather than go back on the 12:30 bus because I was having a good time went to get a room. We had no luggage, and when the clerk asked how long I wanted the room, I said just one night. His response? "The WHOLE night??"

Sorry for the loss of your friend Patrina. They really were an innovative Canadian band.

lmao...one time, many years ago, my ex and I were sneaking around to see each other (long story) and so we rented a room for the night. The guy said to me "by the hour or all evening?" I said with sarcasm, "Oh, by the hour, he can't afford me for the whole night!" lol Anyway, it was all in fun, he knew I was joking around. Geez, it wasn't a cheap hotel or anything either.
Patrina:)
