Record Breaking £19.2m Fine from UKGC Dished out to William Hill

Haha, like they would ever get rid of their golden goose suspend their license.
How much of that 19.2m will the 'victims' see?

On another note, i hear the UKGC new years party will be extra awesome this year.
;)
I don't have the inclination to trace it, but I would bet my bottom dollar that the money goes to charitable organisations, focus groups and consultancy firms owned by the fat cats.

The problems were so severe the commission had "seriously considered" suspending the firm's licence.

It’s not been published to the UKGC website yet, but wow. That fine is pretty big!

Rob :)
I think Partycasino hold record like £49m

Nope, Party are part of Entain who were hammered last August for £17m - Ladbrokes owner hit with record penalty by the UKGC

Certainly this £19.2m fine is the largest one ever imposed by the UKGC.

I wonder if ukgc use some sort of formula to determine the size of fine or just load up a random number generator, I mean surely they could've found a few more failures and rounded up to 20 big ones!
I think players when they lose large amount of money they report to UKGC
Failures identified by the regulator included allowing a customer to open a new account and spend £23,000 in 20 minutes, all without any checks.

Another social responsibility failure identified was failing to conduct any checks and allowing a different customer to open an account and spend £18,000 in 24 hours.

A third customer was able to spend £32,500 over two days, also without any checks.

Due to "ineffective controls" 331 customers were able to gamble with WHG (International) Limited despite having self-excluded themselves with Mr Green.

Anti-money laundering failures allowed customers to deposit large sums without appropriate checks. Sums deposited were as high as £70,134, which one customer spent and lost in a month.

Another lost £38,000 in five weeks while a third lost £36,000 in four days.

Yes they bring a lot of this on themselves, levels of gambling that a village idiot could probably guess might be a problem with ukgc rules.

Some players may be trying to pull a fast one, bet not one has reported the failings to the UKGC when they won.
I know some of the fine goes towards compensating sources of funds where fraud has been committed ie theft,
not sure if they compensate players when they deposit using legitmate funds and checks are not made or they were
self excluded.
Think the UKGC should be publishing full details of how the rest of the funds are spent, from what I have read, they dont
because they dont have to.

To add to this, these scum bags emailed customers yesterday that they had made TWEAKS to most net ent slots. I checked dead or alive out of curiosity. They have changed the r.t.p to 92 percent!!!

Utter scumbags.

Wow, they finally lowered the rtp on DOA to an unplayable 92%.
It's been showing 92% on the game info page that's available prior to loading the game (as justdoit's pic shows) for a long time now, yet (until now) was always showing 96.8% on the actual in game information page. Dumbasses gonna dumbass I s'pose.

not sure way I use to get good win from that DOA but never wild line, now they changed it

There's a massive difference between William Hill and a lot of decent reputable online casinos, not just Video Slots.

William Hill go out of their way to operate slots on 91-92 RTP%, even asking slot studios directly to get their mathematicians to provide such maths if it doesn't already exist. The industry standard these days on new slots appears to be 94-95% which isn't as good as it used to be, but William Hill aren't even happy with that. Apparently they won't even advertise a slot on their front page unless it returns 93 RTP% or lower, because they want to drive as much traffic to the lowest-paying games as possible. They're taking advantage of the working-class punter who doesn't understand or realise that they can get better elsewhere, because they know they can get away with it.

They don't engage with Casinomeister, their TV adverts are invasive (the celebrity shills you get on them should be ashamed of themselves) and their promotions are fucking abominable. And then they get fined £19.2m for a string of egregious breaches of their license to operate, most of which occurred during lockdown where problem gamblers were most vulnerable.

They can get to fuck. Bunch of parasites.

I agree with everything and feel your pain. Not sure the last word might be worth removing, though, even though the cap probably fits :)

That fine only looks big, they made way more than that 19.2 mil so they still make profits even after they pay fines like these.

You damn well know that these people are problem gamblers who in the end will come back and lose it all again. The fact online casinos can allow these types of deposits without checking first is bullshit. Online casinos make big bank from just a small % of players.
