Has anyone encountered any problems with a casino when playing on a mobile connection, IE dongle, mobile wi-fi (mi-fi) or on a phone or tablet using a sim card and not normal wi-fi.
I had an issue a couple of years ago with a casino with a conflicting IP but was sorted out ok.

I use mobile wi-fi (mi-fi) as it only costs me £40 a year for my internet and it does me for what i need.

I now have an issue with another casino which i shall not name as not been sorted yet, informing me that i have logged in from another country (I wish) and have to send verification again.

I know my IP shows up a lot that i am in London even though i am in Gods own county but never had a casino inform me that i am in another country.
Just worries me now as i made 2 withdrawals from 2 casinos in the past couple of days and if this shows up to them then they might be awkward.

Checked my IP this morning and it says London.
But i bought a new Mi-fi unit at the weekend, but cant see it being that as the IP will come from the sim card.

In this day and age with casinos letting you play on mobile, they must realise there will be issues with conflicting IP's, changing IP's etc.

Input appreciated please, even though most of you will not access the internet this way.

Also would appreciate some casino reps input, if they can without giving too much away.

Cheers

I do use quite often my phone as mobile hotspot, especially when i go through another error/disconnection jamboree. 2GB cost me 4GBP/month and i never used more than that.

The problem with Mobile Internet is that you do not have a fixed IP, it changes every time you activate it on your phone.

I had the case with VS once where i suddenly had an IP from the US, of all places. Took nearly 2 days to sort it out.

They didnt tell me which country i was supposed to have logged in from.

Everytime i turn my Mi-fi unit off, it gives me a new IP.

Must be a nightmare for casinos with people playing on mobile connections, but its the way technology is going now

Bryan has PM'd me my IP's from yesterday and this morning.

If i look on here on my mobile, i use an old Java Sony phone as its a lot easier then my Samsung.
This shows up a proxy as i use opera mini.
I cannot play casinos using this phone and never even try.

The visits here on my laptop are showing correct IP.
The post i made yesterday in between my two visits to said casino yesterday is showing an English IP.

So i dont know what the hell is going on.

PM'd the rep earlier this morning.

Oh, and just got a withdrawal no problem from Videoslots

I had the same issue. I could see that i had Thai IP's but the VS server was thinking i am from the US :what:  VS tech sorted it out then but it took some time.

You can always check your current IP using Google:

Beam me up Scotty :D

Mobile ISP's are using shared IP's hence Lewisham is nothing unusual.

Did you check your proxy settings? Those can potentially cause an issue.

In my firefox settings, it says "use system proxy settings"

I must point out that i wasnt requsting a withdrawal to make the casino email me

It's about time casinos stopped relying on this outdated and often highly inaccurate technology, or they could go back to the "stone age" and insist that players only play on a PC using a home internet connection provided by a recognised provider.

It is not a requirement to have a fixed IP address for the internet to work as originally intended, coupled with the fact that we have run out of traditional IPv4 addresses so it's IMPOSSIBLE to allocate fixed IP addresses to every device. Geolocation is a bodge, it is not supported by the standards that govern the internet, it's a bolt on designed to subvert the original intention that the internet be global, and recognise no distinction between physical geopolitical boundaries. As such, a database is required that lists every IP address against it's supposed physical location. It is inaccurate because it relies on ISPs providing the data whenever they allocate their IP addresses to customers. As there is a shortage, this is impossible because ISPs will allocate IP addresses as needed, and will not restrict them to a given area. This means that anyone can end up with any IP address their provider has, but since the database requires a location to be specified, some ISPs just pick a generic location to associate with several IP addresses in the pool, yet any one of it's customers could end up with any of the addresses. Hence why I suddenly seem to have moved to Basingstoke from Reading, yet actually live in Bracknell and use a fixed connection from Virgin Media.

It is completely daft to even try to pin down a mobile internet connection to an individual town by using a fixed dataset held by a third party of a default location. The location of a mobile connection can move through several counties, even crossing the channel to France from here, all in the space of a single playing session.

For smartphones, GPS would provide a better physical location for a player, or detecting which mast the device has locked onto at the time, using it's location as an estimate for the players' location.
