PETA does a lot of good, but they also do some goofy crap. The reason I can't join PETA or go full gonzo vegan can be summed up in one word.

When you are extremist, the moderate messages get lost and ignored.
IMO you can treat animals humanely during their lives and still slaughter them for meat. My country has some laws regarding this.
But PETA has become a joke, battling fictional characters.

PETA is to animal rights as the Westboro Baptist Church is to Christianity.
Interestingly, at the bottom of this thread under related posts is one from 2008 that references an article about the kill rate of animals that PETA 'rescues' - unfortunately the link is dead but it made me curious so I turned to Google and found this site
If their stats are right, it's really shocking. In 2010 they 'rescued' 2,345 animals and euthanized 2,200.

yeah PETA's pretty scary. also, i thought learning what the inside of slaughter houses in some of their vids was pretty cool (minus all the melodromatic boo hoo poor animals stuff)
