In a nutshell we have this:

MGs blocking NEW US players
At this time it LOOKS LIKE all micros will stop accepting new US players starting Monday or a little later.

LOOKS LIKE.

There will be more info tomorrow.

So far, existing players are still welcome and no sudden blocking is planned, but it is said that eventually most MGS casinos will not be allowing any US players.

And this:
UIGEA Regulations have been rushed thru and finalized
Achieving wide coverage across the stock markets and business sites as the week ended was a Dow Jones business report that the controversial regulations supporting the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have been finalised. The news comes after widespread political and financial services criticism that the initial draft of the regulations lacked practicality and precision.
....

The Treasury Department forwarded the final regulations to the Office of Management and Budget on October 21, a necessary step towards implementation. The report describes the move as standard practice for outgoing administrations to finalise controversial regulations before leaving office, a practice known as a midnight drop.

I'm full of questions. Now, what are we going to do? (Yes, I've already written letters and emails and made phone calls to my government reps who couldn't give a rats ass.) Even though I rarely play anymore, I am sorely pissed off that I am being relieved of the CHOICE as to whether I gamble online or not.

I've got a couple hundred in QT I could get out (but it will cost me $50 to do so). Do I leave it and hope we'll be allowed to play a bit longer? How much longer? And if we ARE allowed to play for awhile, how will we get our money out? How much longer can we count on our NETSpend cards working to make deposits at casinos? If QT doesn't dump us immediately, will they too block us in the near future? (flashbacks to the NETeller fiasco)

Open for discussion. I want to hear members' viewpoints on this... Am I overreacting? Is our current situation not as bad as it seems? Nothing to get worked up about? (except for our stupid government and DOJfux)

MGS completely pulling out of the US will certainly be yet another big hit for US players.

However, when MGS eventually pulls out, there will be no doubt other service providers taking their position. I'm sure there will be enough well run and trustworthy operations around afterwards like they are now with MGS. I don't see it much different from now, you'll have to investigate BEFORE you play to check the credibility of an operator anyway.

With regards to Neteller etc, everyone thought after the crash of the US Neteller business this is going to damage US gaming significantly. While it did change the landscape quite a lot, US gaming hasn't disappeared in any significant way. I am actually to believe US online gaming has increased since UIGEA due to the enormous increase in Poker players.

I personally would not be worried too much about your funds in QT as such, rather unlikely they taking any consequences out of this.

And regarding the UIGEA enforcement, where there is a will there is a way ...

We will certainly see a lot of CHANGE in near future (as someone promised it to US citicens recently)

Maybe we should respond with a, *** YES WE CAN *** ;-)

With MG gone, we will be left with RTG (ha!), Rival, 3Dice. I'd like to have some assurances from these operations that they are not planning to pull out.

The recent passing of the UIGEA regulations will now 'force' banks to follow those stupid, illogical, unclear guidelines ... and what will this do to transfers from QT to our banks? And from NETspend to the casinos?

I don't doubt that somehow, some way, people will continue to gamble online. Thing is, for many of us, it won't be worth the hassle.

Banks have already spoke about the inability to decipher which is legal
online gaming activity and which is not. Many of these banks have
threatened that if any regulations are put in place, that they will stop
transactions from all online gaming sites. That would include Kentucky's horse
racing industry, and many states' legal lottery sales that are done online.

Well.. IMHO I have about had it with gambling online at present!
Most Online Casinos are becoming very tight-A$$'d with their winnings to players, or - if you do win.. it takes forever & a day to get those winnings.. IF you are that lucky to get those WINNINGS!

Then there is our goverment.. Which to me is FUBAR'D! They are passing bills right & left.. leaving disaster in their wake!
And, I am not just talking about the gambling bill either!

I have played at quite a few online casinos over the years. The ones I really liked pulled out of the US, leaving me with very few choices a couple of years back.

At present, I am playing at TWO online casinos.. "TWO"!
One is my new casino, I like very much and the other is for Tourneys only.

If MG's pull out completely, then I am left with just the one. Maybe that for me is a good thing. Their tourneys are hard to get into lately anyway, making me lose interest in them also.

Whatever the case, I am starting to have a bad taste in my mouth for ALL online casinos gambling, other than the new one I play at now.

Sad really, although my bank card and check book will love me more now for it.

*sighs*
Have a good Sunday All.

I too am going to take a break from online gambling. This kentucky freak show and washington dc's antics are making me wish I was Canadian.

Maybe Obama will bring some much needed change to this country that is being led by idiots.

I surely hope so.

Great News:D

Let's hope ALL banks follow this lead, and the very companies that greased the government palm will find they get slapped in the face by it:D

A few months of disruption to online state lottery and horse racing betting sales will have these people having second thoughts about forcing through this Dog's breakfast of regulation.

After all, MORALLY, surely ALL online gambling is just as dangerous, because it is equally convenient, and hard to police for minors and problem gamblers.
