Something is accelerating the expansion of the universe and they think it might be plain old vacuum space that has a hidden energy of its own called dark energy that isn't an attractive force like gravity but a repulsive force that's pushing every galaxy away from every other galaxy. This repulsive force is thought to also stop individual galaxies from flying apart as they should be with the speeds they are rotating. But are they right? Do you have another theory?
