North Korea and US politics

YEAH! I LOVE OP EDS!

Harry, the entire world is awake. It has everything to do with President Donald J Trump. He has changed the world. One man in seven billion. Those odds are inconceivable, yet he's done it. He's done that and more. But it's never good enough. How can he not have human decency? HE DOESN'T JUST WANT TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT.. HE WANTS THIS FOR EVERY COUNTRY. So what if he puts his country first? THAT'S HIS EFING JOB. Not everything he does is perfect, but he gets results. For instance, he canceled Pompeo's trip to North Korea because it does 't appear denuclearization is taking place since the Singapore Summit. This is not the end all. There is more to this story.Trump hints at an uncooperative China. *shrugs We'll just have to see but Trump won't give up as previous Presidents have done. He's accomplished so much already. How can you stubbornly ignore all the good that has happened since the summit? I'm not going to go through the list, because you're well read and you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

With all due respect, but all Mr. T cares about is himself, not even his own wife&son, let alone America, the entire planet or universe. He comes first, followed by a long, long void. When will you open your eyes enough to see that?

EDIT: Read Mr. T's tweet after Senator McCain passed away and compare it e.g. to Obama's or Hatch's statement. That should tell you enough about who Mr. T cares.

He has achieved nothing with NK that any other president has as well. Some goodwill gestures to take off the pressure, that's it, nothing more, nothing less. But NK got much more than just that e.g. the first ever personal meeting with an US president (to them it doesn't matter who is president), China and Russia lobbying to ease the sanctions while already doing it themselves, no military US-SK excersises, talks with SK etc etc.

Canceling Pompeo's trip is a cheap trick every 6-year old knows........well, that's Mr. T real age, so pretty much expected. Akin, "I cancel the summit" and then still going two weeks later.

Read Moon's latest comments and statements, you will find out that SK will NOT rely on the US to get something done, because they are seeing through all the bluster coming from Mr. T and his cronies. Where's that big progress Pompano announced so many times? NK has not even produced a list of nuclear sites, which would be the first thing to start serious negotiations. On the contrary, they are ramping up their sites.

The Heartless and Racist "Mr. T". Even CNN could not make this gesture Anti-Trump.

Anything that let's your Mr. T appear in a good light. Getting desperate, eh?

I can tell you why he commuted the sentence..... Obama declined because she was responsbile for thousands of American drug addicts and probably countless drug related crimes and deaths. Handling a few tons of cocaine is no small operation.

Remember, just last year Mr. T called for drug dealers to receive the death sentence. Then he hears from a just as shallow fellow reality TV personality about the case and oh, Obama declined.... and Mr. T flips in an instant. You must be so proud!

You all must be getting dizzy from all your spinning.

The only one trying to spin here is you with some cheap Mr. T propaganda.

BTW, this just popped up on my news feed. All the kids got the colors on the flag right, except Mr. T :D :D

So he doesn't know all lyrics of the US anthem, he doesn't know the colors of the flag correctly.... that is some patriot!

Kinda like the drugs pouring in from the US Southern Border?

Looks like impeachable offences to me.

Sure not, but rather inexcusable faux pas that makes him the laughing stock of the world. :D :D :D

not to me, did he forget the colors of the flag? maybe all the reds were being used by the kids, maybe he just picked up the closest crayon. Maybe a kid tossed him the blue and said "use this one". Maybe a kid asked him to finish it that already started using the blue?

I don't laugh at anyone.

Sure, any excuse you want! :D

So, players who kneel in peaceful protest during the anthem are disrespecting the flag, the US and god knows what else, but when the president doesn't know the lyrics of the anthem or can't draw the flag correctly, you'll spin around to find excuses.

Here's another pic.... plenty of red crayons there.

I wonder what those can be:

- rolling back the Clean Power Act (to allow for more coal to be burned)
- rolling back environmental protections
- downsizing natural reserves to a minimum (to get more fracking done)

- reducing the CFPB to a toothless bystander
- rolling back banking regulations that were supposed to act as a defence against a 2008 repeat
- increasing the deficit in a growing economy!
- borrowing thrillions of dollars to pay for a tax cut that does little to normal families but will be a burden for the kids and grandkids
- starting a trade war with virtually everyone he can think off
- lying to the American farmers that trade wars are easy to win and then throws subsidies at them
- starting a Space Force, again on borrowed money
- dismantling Obamacare step by step without offering a proper alternative
- trying to toughen immigration law buts is happy to have his in-laws take advantage of them
- etc. etc.

To be honest, to date I was not been able to find anything good that he has done. The economy has only grown that much because he threw over $1 trillion at an already growing economy, everyone can do that. But I have seen little in policy that actually promotes natural growth or education for future jobs.

You don't have ANY shame, do you Harry?

Did President Trump Open National Parks and Wildlife Refuges for Coal Mining?
President Trump lifted a temporary moratorium on leasing federal lands for coal mining, but that activity was never completely shut down.

"First, EPA is not allowed to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources (power plants) under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act. Why not? Because all emissions from such sources are already regulated under Section 112. Regulators don’t get two bites at that apple.

Congress expressly prohibited such overregulation to avoid burdensome, duplicative rules, and it required the EPA to choose only one avenue. But EPA has regulated coal-and-oil-fired electric generation unit emissions under Section 112 since 2000, and in 2012, it began regulating all fossil fuel-fired electric generation unit emissions under that section.

Second, to proceed under Section 111, the EPA is required to make an endangerment finding under the criteria for stationary sources. But there is no endangerment finding – not under the Obama administration and not now. "

"The Clean Power Plan represents the worst of the regulatory abuses of the Obama administration. Its mistakes must not be repeated."

I only made it a couple points down the list It's redundant and time consuming to call you out on topics that myself, slotplayer, lockinlove, weesie, and others have already sourced and discussed. I wonder what motivates you to continue in this character assassination campaign? Logic would suggest that Trump's policies or executive actions (Trade deals, for example) somehow impact your life on a personal level, that you perceive as negative, and therefore he is enemy #1. I don't know this, of course, but logically, I can think of no reason that a sane person could have such a monolithic attitude toward another human being. It has distorted your perception.

Standing for the National Anthem falls under social etiquette/norms. It is a social ceremony that celebrates pride in our American Flag and honor to those that fought (and the many that died) in the CREATION of our country. What these boys are doing is straight up "Social Ceremony Appropriation." (heh heh heh I'm only a little bit sorry for doing that.) Do you think these boys really believe that kneeling is the answer to their very understandable cause? If you were in their shoes, what would you do? Would you continue to go down on one knee and expect police brutality of black Americans to remedy itself? They protested. Now what? Everyone (including the President) is stuck in a politicized vacuum that the president and players created but no one is taking action. The purpose of a protest is to affect change. This doesn't seem to be working, so why defend it?

I suppose it goes right back to the war of independence and then the constitution, other countrys have higher level of gun ownership, switzerland and canada, I think that's correct, but these type of mass shootings are very rare elsewhere, just like the knife crime epidemic in london, its a symptom of deeper problems. I think we need to go back to basics, slow down and get real people involved in politics not these plastic actors. [both sides of the political divide btw]

As if control of Congress is enough to change gun laws.

And Obama never had 60 votes in the Senate. Read up how many over 100 proposals got turned down in his 8 years.

Plus, one of the first EO's from Mr. T rolled back Obama's EO's on gun control.

Who controlled Congress in 2009?
On January 20th, 2009, 57 Senate seats were held by Democrats with 2 Independents (Bernie Sanders and Joe Lieberman) caucusing with the Democrats…which gave Democrats 59 mostly-reliable Democratic votes in the Senate, one shy of filibuster-proof “total control.” Republicans held 41 seats.

There are way more than that, Harry, and they focus on deregulation-- like my previous post laid out.

Make sure you're sitting down.

Why didn't obama bring in the measures that you think would stop these mass shootings, he had 8 years as president?

Plus he had total control of Congress for a while.

Right after sandy hook, when we should have known then that if little children being shot up like Swiss cheese(sorry) was not gonna change any laws...nothing would..but right after sandy hook, obama tried to ban assault type weapons...and congress blocked it.

Obama took a bunch of executive actions to strengthen gun laws cuz congress was not helping.

Because the House and Senate were dominated by the Republicans, and the gun lobby is very powerful.

In the uk if you get to be prime minister and form a goverment you generally have a majority in the house of commons and can override the house of lords if need be, I'm suprised to hear in the US the president doesn't need a majority of elected representatives to become president?. sounds like a bit of a stitch up to me, so that nothing good for the people ever gets passed, and if the democrats/republicans get a president he can't change anything.

Also I thought each state had different gun laws, in which case could the democratic states have the most stringent gun control measures available to them in place ?

I think California, Illinois, MA and NJ have strict gun laws, a few others to. The problem is the neighboring states might not. There should be universal gun laws at the Federal level.

I didn't contest that the Dems controlled Congress in 2009. But to change gun laws you need to get it through the Senate too and for that you need 60 votes. 59 is not 60, you know that, right?

The comedy show just never stops:

- Mr. T's McCain drama (no statement, then statement; flag half-staff, full-staff, half-staff) speaks volumes of the small-minded child that Mr. T is. Good that McCain didn't allow him to be at his funeral because if Mr. T would be speaking there, he would brag about his "non-achievements" even at such an occasion.

- Mr. T falsely claiming that Google is rigging search results. He probably never heard what SEO is. Plus, Faux News and Co. never report anything negative.

- Deal with Mexico - Mr. T: "This is one of the biggest deals ever signed, maybe the biggest"; "We will ditch the name NAFTA"; - FACT: Nothing has been signed other than a preliminary agreement. Mr. T cannot ditch NAFTA, nor can he sign a new deal without congress approval. Lighthizer gave the main details of this "biggest deal:
--> Auto manufacturing: 75% of the parts in any car sold in North America be produced in the United States or Mexico, up from 62% being produced in the United States, Mexico or Canada.
--> Higher labor standards: 40% to 45% of auto parts in cars sold to be made by workers earning at least $16 USD per hour.
--> Sunset clause: The agreement will last for 16 years, and will be reviewed every 6 years

That's it? That's the "biggest deal" ever? My 9-year old son could have negotiated that much. Just like the big drama with the UK-SK trade deal, it is all smoke and no fire. The comedy show when he had Pena-Nieto on the phone was just hilarious.
Funny how he threatened Canada with auto tariffs if they do not obey and fall in line to sign on to the "biggest deal" ever. Somebody should have told him that Canada does not have much of their own car brands and is mainly producing cars for American companies which are then imported into the US. So putting tariffs on them will make the cars more expensive for US consumers.

- Mr. T telling evangelicals that there would be violence if they lose the mid-terms and they stand to lose everything he has "achieved". e.g. "Little thing: Merry Christmas, right? You couldn't say 'Merry Christmas.' " --> Question is what has he achieved that is substantial other than the tax cut?

- List as usual by far not complete

So same same as every week: Mr. T bragging, lying, exaggerating, showing no respect etc! :D

Going into the 2008 elections, the Senate consisted of 49 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and two Independents (Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and Bernie Sanders of Vermont) who caucused with the Democrats. When the smoke cleared from those elections, the Democrats picked up eight seats to increase their majority to 57-41 (although Democrat Al Franken’s recount victory was not official until July 7). With the two Independents, the Democrats were one vote shy of the supermajority magic number of 60 they needed to ward off any filibuster attempts and move forward with broad healthcare reform legislation.

But on April 28, 2009, the dynamics changed when Pennsylvania Republican Arlen Spector changed parties, giving Senate Democrats that coveted 60th vote.

Now the Democrats had a safe majority in the House and a filibuster-proof supermajority of 60 in the Senate. That scenario lasted only four months before fate intervened. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died on August 25, 2009, leaving the Democrats, once again, with 59 seats (counting the two Independents). Exactly one month later, on September 25, Democrat Paul Kirk was appointed interim senator from Massachusetts to serve until the special election set for January 19, 2010 – once again giving the Democrats that 60th vote. But the intrigue was just beginning.

Geez, you do like your misleading quotes. Why not show the entire Forbes article, which will tell you that when it came to the vote they did not have 60 votes as they lost in the Massachusetts special election?

"With the supermajority vote safely intact once again, the Senate moved rather quickly to pass the ACA – or ObamaCare – on Christmas Eve 2009 in a 60 – 39 vote (Kentucky Republican Senator Jim Bunning chose not to vote since he was not running for reelection). The House had previously passed a similar, although not identical bill on November 7, 2009, on a 220 – 215 vote. One Republican voted “aye,” and 39 Democrats were against.
There didn’t seem to be an urgent need for Democrats to reconcile both bills immediately, because the Massachusetts special election (scheduled for January 19, 2010) was almost certain to fall to the Democrat, Attorney General Martha Coakley. After all, no Republican had been elected to the U.S. Senate from the Bay State since Edward Brooke in 1972 – 38 years before! But in yet another twist of fate, Republican Scott Brown ran his campaign as the 41st senator against ObamaCare and shocked nearly everyone by winning the special election by 110,000 votes.
That left House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama in a dilemma. Everyone assumed that the Christmas Eve 2009 Senate bill would be tweaked considerably to conform more with the House bill passed two months previously. But now that strategy wouldn’t work, because the Democrats no longer had the 60th vote in the Senate to end debate. What to do? They decided to have the House take up the identical bill that the Senate passed on Christmas Eve. It passed on March 21, 2010, by a 219 – 212 vote. This time, no Republicans came on board, and 34 Democrats voted against. President Obama signed the ACA legislation two days later on March 23."

And further down after the legislation was signed:

"Republicans invoked Thomas Jefferson’s observation that 'great innovations should not be forced on a slender majority – or enacted without broad support.' "

Exactly what the Republicans are doing today. Oh the hypocrisy! :D

They still had super majority for 4 months, why they didn't pass gun control legislation I don't know but I'm sure there are articles as to why.

As if you would be able to pass gun reform in 4 months! You know exactly that it would take longer because first, the NRA would come down hard with an army of lobbyists.

The Republicans needed 6 months to have their ACA repeal on the Senate floor and that was rushed through without any proper debate or input from the opposition party. So your point, blaming here the Dems for not passing gun reform in 4 months, is rather moot!

So what you are saying is the dems don’t want to take our guns either.

The flag drama had nothing to do with Trump. The White House Staff followed protocol. No one ordered the flag raised prematurely.
Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers fell on their backs and started flailing and screaming about something they (as usual) know nothing about. The President ordered the flag lowered again to accommodate their grief , not because he got caught being a disrespectful or spiteful baby.

The world is a better place without McCain. Period.

Period.

I didn't dispute the length of the flag being halfstaff....it is the drama of down, up and down. He can't even handle such a simple thing properly and with the required dignity.

BTW the American Legion was the strongest proponent to have it lowered again on Monday. So, you are calling US veterans "Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers". How nice!

How do you know the world will better off without McCain? Using your "spiritual powers" again to look into the future?
