Crazy stuff happening in the world folks!

Some of you may remember me discussing my involvement with the Qanon movement a few months back. (In Trump thread) I know many on here don't know who Qanon is , and those that do - may not buy into it. After you read my post, if you're interested,

A letter to America

I am one of the many who are watching these historic events unfold from the “outside”. I am neither American born, not domiciled. I have visited your fair country on several occasions during my fifty years on this planet, and have always felt an affinity with you, the average Joe American.

That is because the average Joe American is warm, welcoming, decent, and brave. You respect those that have put on your military uniform and risked all for your country, and I respect that. You honor your founders and foundational (and VERY unique) Constitution, and I can respect that. You look out for your communities and families and I respect that too. You have, in essence, a decency and strength that is truly worthy of the moniker “American Exceptionalism”. America is not just a word or idea; it is a people who share common values of freedom, independence, equality, family, loyalty. I appreciate this message is going to sound a little corny, but I see you being attacked by half the country, I see the frustration in some of you that arrests are not coming fast enough, and I saw tonight Q’s frustration that we weren’t seeing the progress that was occurring right before our eyes, nor the complexity and danger of the war that was raging around us.

We have all been chosen by God to live in this period of history, a time when in all likelihood the United States is all that stands between our civilization’s total capitulation to this Evil, and a future that we would want to pass on to those who inherit this Earth from us. However it is you, the citizens of the United States of America that are bearing the greatest burden in this fight.

Your media likes to tell you that you are despised throughout the world, that anti-Americanism is widespread and that you should tread more lightly. I would like to say to you that that is bullshit. What is happening at this moment in time, led by your President, and this phenomenon of Q is attracting the attention and support of the WORLD. We are you and you are us. We share your contempt for the corruption, for those that would sell out the interests of our countries for their own benefit, and most egregiously harm our children in ways we had not even believed were possible.

As you are attacked by both your own and the international media, and those in your community who have not yet (or may never) wake up to what has and is happening, please know that you are not alone in this fight. What you are doing is inspiring. It is glorious and just.

To President Trump and Q, and those at the sharp end of this war, whilst not American citizens, please know that we outsiders are in awe of you and those who stand beside you. We know that this has not been attempted before. We see the gravity of what is unfolding, and the courage and spirit it took to engage such an enemy. It is clear that this international cabal still has the ability to inflict pain and death, and no hesitation to do so. It is hidden, clever, evil, and well dug in. Lest we forget, this is a real war and good people are dying. Please know that there are many out here who understand your sacrifices and the risks being taken on our behalf. Thank you and God bless you all. WWG1WGA!Old Attachment (Invalid)

Kelly, I'm just wondering what is your opinion of the JFK assassination and if you can say what the general opinion is amongst friends/family ?

I don't know anything about qanon but with the hysteria the media have built up against Trump, it does provide a potential cover story for an attempted assassination and then the media can say the assassin was part of an extreme opposition group.

The manchurian candidate book/film was about a mind controlled assassin killing a presidential candidate, and it was written way back in 1959.

Qanon is pro TRUMP so they would have really had to manipulate the story to pin it on the Anons.
Actually that missile was supposedly fired from a Japanese Sub that had gone missing. The plan was to 1.) Blame NK 2.)Discover that Uranium from the nuke had origins in Russia 3.) Subsequently catapulting us into the prophesied WWIII. (The added benefit would be that Trump was dead. Sheesh!)

oh I wasn't implying qanon [I suppose he's either a bit of a mysterious insider/whistleblower or a hoaxer?] would be behind the assassination but if there was an assassination it would be possible to frame a trump hater, a cover story is possible using that narrative.

I don't think Trump will be assassinated as although he is very unpopular with the deep state I believe he still has enough powerful, influential friends elsewhere. Its probably easier to manipulate him to do their bidding through the threat of action from the mueller investigation/witchhunt and now his old lawyer talking. I think they [the establishment/deep state etc] will want to time all their efforts to stop Trump from running again for a second term, its just whether they have enough hard evidence of untoward activitiy, that will stand up, to present to the public.

Edit: oh yeah robert kennedy's murder is more aligned to the manchurian candidate, but I was wondering if people you know well [family/friends] actually believe the official narrative about JFK's murder. If not there is precedent for a state arranged assassination of a president, it would have to be the state as the warren commission is an essential part of the cover up.
"The commission concluded that Oswald acted alone in killing Kennedy and that Oswald was not part of any conspiracy"

The Manchurian candidate kelly refers to is obama.

Not Kennedy.

Obama is to blame for all the ills of the USA.

It’s ridiculous.

I’m not a fan but is it possible that the USA is in the state it is cuz of all the decisions that were made by the numerous presidents that were in office.

no kennedy was assassinated when he had a good chance to be the democrat nominee for president, Sirhan Sirhan the assassin could have been 'brain washed' to do it.

The term manchurian candidate has been extended to cover puppet politcians, so possibly Obama was one of these? [just like tony blair]

I agree it is the culmination of decisions by all presidents, both republican and democrat.

Apparently in a 2018 interview with the washington post Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said he believed that Sirhan did not kill his father, and that a second gunman was involved

Do you believe the weapons of mass destruction claims, created largely by the US and UK governments, that were used to justify the iraq war were arrived at by accident and in no way involved conspiratorial planning?

My views on that topic were already expressed to some extent in the old Trump thread.

To reiterate briefly: Justifications for (that) Iraq war were flimpsy at best. Might have been even criminal. But war is good business.

I've said this many times before. Deception of reality is a tricky thing. Nick Bostrom even argued in 2003 that we could be living in a computer simulation. Things are sometimes not what they seem. But the conspiracy theorists want to make it so, even when things actually are what they seem. That's the main reason for the quote I posted earlier.

I don't believe everything that happens in the world is part of an over arching single conpiracy, but people in general from time to time conspire, so its madness to think people within government or big business never conspire.
People attracted to power are probably more prone to conspiracy because of their ambitious and ruthless nature. Greed is also a big motivator for conspiracy, and in this world money =power.

I'm not big on 20th century philosophy, to my mind it is based too much around politics, the right and the left, and all the ensuing arguments this entails.

There are some good lectures on philosphy on youtube by Arthur holmes, who was the professor of philosophy at wheaton college; but its hard stuff to understand for a simpleton like me

I wouldn't go so far as to call it "madness to think people within government or big business never conspire". Sure they do, but that's mostly a criminal matter. Some conspiracy theories just go overboard with the absurdity of their claims and lose focus of the subject matter. Which could be interesting or significant in itself.

But I don't think you're a simpleton mack. No more than me.

People believe different things. Some believe there's a god which have granted them some god-given rights, some swear everything is ran by a cabal of some sort. It really comes to the theory of justification and what level of assumption one sees as evidence or reasonably justified to believe in something.

I personally like the epistemology of conspiracy theories. The actual conspiracy theories as such have mostly entertainment value (sometimes), but sometimes they can actually be pretty harmful.

Saddam admitted to lying about possessing wmd's to keep Iran at bay. Its the US & UK that believed it.

Agree with tenur - take Ed: actually enjoyed some of his posts on some subjects but when you go into the realms of Holocaust denial, I’m sorry, but that’s not a view or an opinion, it’s a ludicrous statement. Regardless of how many bampots on YouTube you reference.

CIA and a President though: well that’s something you could buy into :-p

Keep an open mind, don’t buy into everything you read, for sure but Christ, keep a tether on sanity.

For me conspiracy has become a political football, and modern philosophy centres around politics, so obviously the two will become entangled at some point, and so It is kind of interesting soros was a former pupil of popper.

The gulf of tonkin incident gives an an idea of how conpiracy can lead to war. Most people in the press who are against conspiracy theories being true gladly accept the russians conspired to kill skripal in salisbury, their rationale seems to be they are the baddies so they do conspiracies but we're the goodies so we don't. In my opinion Its a very naive and simplistic approach to life.

You would never know that it was mostly criminal, to me fabricating evidence for a war of invasion is a criminal matter. The question 'to whom is it a benefit' [ cui bono] is always relevant and important when investigating anything, be it the iraq war, the skripal poisoning etc...

Yes, Gulf of Tonkin incident could be classified as conspiracy. This was an actual incident which the government lied about to justify going to war (like Iraq 2003). One might call it a conspiracy or just simply criminal behaviour. But that's different from conspiracy theories, which are mostly (like the name suggests), theories.

Similar tactics are not that uncommon. An example here would be the shelling of Mainila in 1939 which was used by the Soviet Union as justification for war against Finland. Of course it was later shown that the Red Army was behing the shelling all along.

I'm not disputing the need to have a proper investigation. IMO, The conspiracy theorists mostly go off the deep end with their assumptions of the evidentiary value of causality. Or just make these up to serve the cause. Conspiracy theories are rhetorically organised to be seen as fact.

The thing is the general public don't have access to all the information around events and rely on the news media to investigate matters, which may or not happen or even be thorough and believable. So in the absence of this, vague theories appear, and that's all they'll ever be absent of say a whistleblower or scientific proof etc..

what about the evidential value of 'who benefits'?

Its one thing to identify where a government(s) mislead the public like in the events leading upto the Iraq war or vietnam war but it is another thing to identify who benefits from the end result.

I suppose they could have just planted some during the chaos and dispelled the lie.

yeah, they could have done that but it would have involved adding another lie, I don't think the US government were bothered at that point, they got what they wanted [not the american people:)] and no one was going to hold them to account.

We had the iraq inquiry but blair is still swanning around giving his opinion on all matters, when in reality by fair logic for starting a war of aggression which caused hundreds of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians he should be standing trial in the hague.

I agree, it's not usually easy to identify the ultimate beneficiaries of a war.

A natural starting point would be to look at any industry profiting from the war in the short term. If the weapons etc. manufacturers have significant political power, it could certainly be seen as problematic (war profiteering). This poses more problems like "revolving doors" and the influence of the lobbying industry (e.g. Halliburton and the Iraq war).

One problem with war profiteering is that it's mostly invisible in nature and relies on information being classified. Governmental transparency is needed and when that fails, we do need whistleblowers (and the laws to protect them).

The problem with conspiracy theories is their reliance on something else than facts (in most cases). A good theory goes to trash when the facts in the theory are attached with unsubstantiated claims. But when a theory is supported with acceptable evidence, a theory evolves to something else than just another "conspiracy theory".

The value of any claim like "who benefits" really is based on the facts supporting it.

One thing seems sure. Governments and politicians are too easily getting away with murder (by war).

when research into potential medicines and cures is only about profit, we are in trouble, how do we know for instance that research and possibly cures [natural] have not be suppressed because they will not lead to patentable drugs? [that's a conspiracy theory] The cancer charities have been raising billions for years are we any closer to some cures or even understanding the causes?

The drug companies always seem to come up with a medicine that will 'control the disease' or 'reduce the symptoms' rather than a cure or an explanation of the causes, therefore this provides a constant stream of revenue. I would prefer the medical industry to be entirely public owned and accountable. Any profit could then be ploughed into more research rather than dividends.

I don't think the lies were deliberate and it was some conspiracy.

I posted the video of the Lebanese guy that interviewed Saddam's for months. Seemed credible to me. I heard that long before the video that Saddam lied about WMD's to keep Iran at bay.

I watched one video on Blair when his name came up a while back, seemed he was real popular, then fell from grace.

I agree, it's not usually easy to identify the ultimate beneficiaries of a war.

You want to find beneficiaries of war? Find the names of Corporate officials and appointed Board members and connect the "dots." In the past, this information was garnered through extensive-sometimes dangerous investigations done by journalists. Those days are long gone and normal people like you and I are learning how to access this info much quicker and from the comfort of our home with a simple internet connection, tech tools, and open source data.

One problem with war profiteering is that it's mostly invisible in nature and relies on information being classified. Governmental transparency is needed and when that fails, we do need whistleblowers (and the laws to protect them)

There is no way I could have possibly said it better than this. Classified/Redacted information has proven to pose a far greater risk to national security than any whistleblower in recent history. It isn't harmful to our nation when classified government info gets leaked. It's harmful to the government officials/departments. The only thing that should be classified are military ops and development. Every move a government official makes...right up to the president should be transparent. Classified practices weaken a country along with its citizens.

The problem with conspiracy theories is their reliance on something else than facts (in most cases). A good theory goes to trash when the facts in the theory are attached with unsubstantiated claims. But when a theory is supported with acceptable evidence, a theory evolves to something else than just another "conspiracy theory".

Once it is labeled , it never evolves. The problem originates when word theory is tacked to the end of the word conspiracy. This effectively places ownership upon those that identify or question evidence of a conspiracy. It is the greatest injustice to people looking for answers and truth. Aside from Elvis is alive type CTs, I challenge anyone to name a conspiracy (I really hate typing this...) theory that doesn't hold some basic merit. Take Aliens. Cave painting is literally the first "writing on the wall" proof of Aliens, and yet...? Folks that voice an affirmative view are denigrated and labled.

Maybe time to resurrect this thread because I just came across this article from CNN on my newsfeed, titled: "Finally, Devin Nunes admits what his charade is all about". Apparently, he got recorded on tape while talking to some donors.

Should be clear to all now that this a Mr. T and GOP charade. Nunes speaks about protecting MR. T. Why does he need protection in Nunes' view if Mr. T is sooooo innocent as he relentlessly claims.

Mouche got it spot on.

I am actually gobsmacked at your ignorance. The people who are supposed to exercise oversight in your name are doing everything to cover it up and you are worried about the Dems impeaching Mr. T.

And when did anyone say they are going to take the tax cuts back? Another fantasy from Faux News?

ACA is actually helping people, so what would be wrong in reviving and improving it? Mr. T is just dismantling it without replacement putting millions of people in danger of having no health insurance. And that in the US.

We went from no meetings with Russians.
To there was a meeting with Russia but it was about adoption.
To there was a meeting with Russia to collect dirt on an opponent but that’s not a crime.
To collusion is not crime.

And yet there is proof that the Russian interfered in the election on behalf of mr trump. But we are to believe it’s all good cuz the president who lies daily is telling the truth.

How many lies does he need to tell before someone does something.

But as slotplayer says cuz he listens to hannity and tucker what’s all the hysteria about?

We would have to peel the republicans off the ceiling if this was about a Democrat. Obama wore a tan suit and the republicans became hysterical. They are still investigating Clinton and they are still in a hysterical state chanting lock her up. Comical. And yet her investigations led by republicans have resulted in zero indictments.

And how many arrests and indictments with this phony mueller investigations? Too many to list and it’s not over yet.

May be slotplayer, but the greater issue here is that the House and Senate have an obligation to investigate and not "clear" the president (any president) if there are serious suspicions.

Of course if there are serious allegations but I believe Nunes is talking about keeping the house and senate in order to continue the Trump Agenda.

Harry's excerpt was from a CNN opinion piece.

I think CNN's viewer ratings are lower than the Food Channel.

I'm not hearing this from Democratic. Rep Maxine Waters, its my imagination.

Impeach 45

Pelosi - revisit the tax cuts, I'm not hearing it, again its my imagination.

ACA Major benefits still looks in tack to me.

Because it is an OPINION I posted only the factual information, the original words from the tape. FYI, that is not opinion, the words are fact.

But keep it up! Worry about CNN's viewer ratings because you're doing just fine and are winning soooo much ......soon without ACA, soon with a $1 trillion / deficit per year, soon with $0.5 trillion / year in interest payments on the debt, soon with hardly any allies except Saudi-Arabia, Israel and some rogue nations, soon with contaminated drinking water in parts of the country, soon with no or just very few nature reserves, soon with extra tariffs on all possible products of your daily life, soon with no trade agreements, soon with an Iran that has nukes, soon with a NK that keeps its nukes, etc etc....... brilliant!

Your kids and grandkids will bow to you and Mr. T and say "thank you so much"

P.S. It transpired that the NATO declaration was done before the actual summit so Mr. T wouldn't have a chance to rip it apart. That is the length people around him go to make sure they keep some sanity. Shows what exactly they think of him.

Why not post a video where Pelosi and Schumer are heard saying "impeachment is not on the agenda". Fact is they won't do it unless there is a justified reason for it, e.g. Mueller finds out that he indeed was working with the Russians to win his election. Then Democrats would go for impeachment, while Republicans would actually protect him according to Nunes' words! That is the difference which you are not seeing or don't want to see!

Revisit the tax cuts is not taking them back. I am sure they would not take those for normal people back.

ACA is being cut-off bit by bit and you know it.

Still circumventing the issue slotplayer: continuing the Trump Agenda is not a valid reason to clear/protect the president (I would say it borders on criminal conduct in this instance). And do you really think there are no serious suspicions? Think again. CNN is not the only source, there are many.

Taking down a sitting president is not good for the country.

The Dems are keeping impeachment quiet because it does not poll well and they want to win seats in the mid terms.

Is this enough?

No, if Trump did something w/ the Russians the GOP would have no choice.

imo, revisiting the tax cuts means undoing tax cuts.

We already had the ACA conversation a couple weeks ago.
