North Korea and US politics

Why would I consider somebody an enemy just because he/she is not agreeing to what I say? A proper political debate can get heated, fierce, sarcastic, you name it, but in now way does it lead to one part being seen as an enemy.

It’s apparent I can’t get heated, fierce, sarcastic, or whatever. After I used the word asshole, I could only guess you reported my post with the hopes of the boss throwing me out of here. Instead I was given a warning. Your quotes below are an obvious attempt to rid me.

Quote:
"Please carry on with your vile language as that will be your sure-way ticket to the CM curb."

"Oh yes Brian, he/she meant that all in this thread are apparently dumb indeed! And of course we are here only to blame Mr. T as his/her second post indicated"

"Thanks for the sarcasm"

Yet, you gentlemen could use the word skumbag to identify someone. Lets face it, I'm just in that 15% bracket posting from the USA leaving me with not one but both oars out of the water.

we've all been subject to someone's ire and anger on here. there has been some name calling, and god knows what else on these political threads. and brian will come on here and warn us to keep it down.
read the trump thread. it's been closed for this reason.

and no one is trying to get rid of you. don't be afraid to post your opinion.
just try not to call anyone names like a$$hole and you should be ok.

and sarcasm is welcomed.

we're people. not political parties.

I had some hope that trump might do things differently from the previous recent presidents, but he has straightaway got involved in conflicts and issues overseas including in the democratic people's republic of korea, why can't his sole focus and energy be on solving/reducing the usa's internal problems, that's why people voted for him.

In the UK, even though I am from the south east, I would prefer a straight talking yorkshireman or geordie as prime minister, but it will never happen. The houses of parliament were full of characters when I was growing up, now there are very few left.

Trump'll be 72 in June, are we to believe he's either going to be capable of running the country until he's nigh-on 78, given the obvious health implications from the daily stresses, not to mention he may not be elected for a second term!

ronald reagan was 77 when his term ended. i think.

Not saying it hasn't happened before or there hasn't been 'senior' presidents, I just don't care who you are, John Rambo, T-1000, whatever- no one can take the daily punishment and 'critique' and run for eight years. He may be thick- skinned, but even if he were to make the eight, he'd be a puppet president....for his own presidency!

People would re elect him ! Really ! Shakes head. He forgot how to spell his own wife's name i hear this week. Didn't go and see her the last 2 days she was in hospital. Maybe she was happy with that.

You mean Melona?

I suspect he's just trying to assert his authority and show others who's boss. When that's achieved, he may well go onto national problems. Plus I sense a bit of the shrewd businessman and bravado for his own satisfaction may come into it, it's what he does.

Like a majestic, orange- feathered peacock display, if you will

Aha, thanks for letting me know. :D

Maybe you could stop posting misleading videos, selective news and Mr. T cheerleading clips. Oh, forgot, that is not propaganda.

I didn't find them misleading, especially the PBS video, you know the one you label the Trump cheerleading video. For those that don't know, PBS is non-profit, publicly funded tv.

But everyone, don't take my word for it, Google it up: "is pbs a reliable source"

What I do find misleading is your posts. I first noticed it in the old Trump thread, lock pointed it on more than one occasion, your posts are usually a little bit of fact with a mix of assumptions, speculations and opinions thrown in to bias the argument and garnish forum support and that is why I seldom bother debating you.

case in point: Misleading? Selective? Cheerleading? All opinion.

But it would not matter which videos I post, if they were Fox videos I'd hear it's Fox propaganda.

Your prejudice is so loud, it can be heard on the moon.

Rest assured I was not the only one reporting your post and I can ask Bryan to publish my report text where I said: "A small warning might be on order". This is Brian's forum and he alone decides who gets thrown out, not me and not anyone else.

Do you really think that labeling in your first ever post all contributors to this thread as "dumb" was polite, correct, the perfect introduction as a newbie? Well, I let you decide.

"scumbag" was directed at your current president, not at a CM member. Other heads of state have been named all sorts of things in political threads, nothing new. New is that somebody is trying to defend that "someone" who uses daily degrading language in his speeches, tweets etc. and actually is using much worse words as the one mentioned here. I think you could see that as: "The pot calling the kettle black."

Political debates & posts are part facts (to support an argument) and part opinion. That is what makes it a political debate. Maybe google that.

And you mean Fox is not propaganda? Compare it to a NK TV station where 90% of the on-air time they laud their leader. I do not see it much difference when I watch Tucker, Hannity, Pirro, Fox&Friends et al. I would only exclude Shep and Wallace as they seem to take their journalistic duty seriously.

Instead of me reading through god knows how many posts since I last stuck my nose in here is there any chance of someone giving me a brief synopsis of whats occurred in this debate recently?

Edit. I was going to ask to be filled in but then I don't know which side would want to stick the boot in the most!
Something about nuking the planet, a sprinkling of gun control debate and us being called assholes is about the sum of it

Does NK TV put on guests with opposing pov's?

When you say "nuking the planet" do you mean there is an argument about which Country's have exclusive rights to do so? When you say "us being assholes" are they talking about you and your ilk's interests in zoofilia?

Correct on every front :mad::eek2:

You should witness the way I use and abuse cold callers!
I best leave this thread to what it was all about now mate
Just come back in a month or so when we get the fallout from the Korea summit. I'll use the special Bat symbol aka @geordiecolin

Your posts are so predictable and expected, which are no different than the same type of snowflake assholes from this country. So, how long do I have to be a member here before I could call you an asshole fraud to your face?

You think you could possibly make another request to forgive me on your next crybaby asshole report on this post?

You pretty much got yourself banned for this post especially if you’ve been warned already.

You could have actually added to the conversation but you chose to go low. Oh well.

But go ahead continue. By my calculation you have at least till morning GMT to make as many insults as you want on this thread before being banned.
and you may have contributed to another trump I mean political thread being closed. Thank you for that.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

LOL ... Add to the conversation. We got all the assholes we could handle on this side of the pond. No need to debate other mental patients that don't have any say or input that matters over here.

Nothing like civilized discourse eh.

That was nothing like civilized discourse.

No way would I allow this guy to close this thread, that'd be weak. It's been heated at times but still got to 42 pages without calling other members assholes.

If every post is going to be name-calling and personal insults then there's no point to having him here.

Some of you guys are really sad. Like there really was a chance of me remaining here. Maybe you should re-read my posts.

Did you lose a lot of money today? Or are you just looking to let off some steam?

Some people love hiding behind an anonymous persona. Empowers the bully - full of bluster and caustic posts. Argumentum ad hominem and the stooping to name-calling - way to go to have your opinions respected and heard. Adios.

Today’s news cycle is off the charts.

Some news guy on twitter (with 400k followers) wants trump to impeach obama.

Yep, the comedy show never stops while more conspiracy theories and deflections are churned out by the day.

Latest - Obama Wiretap 2.0 aka FBI infiltrating the Trump campaign. ...well, anything that helps to deflect!

Internationally, Pompeo's Iran Plan B was the most notable. The list of demands is, IMO, clearly directed to end in a war because no country in the world would agree to such demands. After creating a mess in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, now it's probably time for the US to look for a new war and to take on Iran (something a few top people in Mr. T's administration have been itching to do for a long time, including Pompeo --> his words: “In an unclassified setting, it is under 2,000 sorties to destroy the Iranian nuclear capacity. This is not an insurmountable task for the coalition forces.”), plus, why not threaten European "allies" as well while they are at it. Just the use of the word "allies" is complete hypocrisy.

As the EU council president Tusk said: "With friends like that who needs enemies?" Especially after these statements from Pompeo in the speech and the follow-up Q&A's:

"I know our allies in Europe may try to keep the old nuclear deal going with Tehran. That is their decision to make. They know where we stand."

"We understand our re-imposition of sanctions and the coming pressure campaign on the Iranian regime will pose financial and economic difficulties for a number of our friends. But you should know that we will hold those doing prohibited business in Iran to account."

"In the strategy we laid out today, we want the support of our most important allies and partners in the region and around the globe. Certainly our European friends, but much more than that."

Mr. T said in a speech last year that "America First does not mean America alone". Well, I think the "NOT" was a slip of the tongue and he actually meant "America alone" because at the rate they are opening new hornets nests they will be left with Israel and maybe Saudi Arabia. Good luck with getting not just Europe but Russia and China to support their "Plan B" which actually is not a plan since it only lists demands and no course of action as to how they will reach an agreement.

But it included a big, the biggest ever, promise from Mr. T and Pompeo that Iran will be blessed with new riches and freedom if they agree to the full list. Well, we all know how the US has been keeping its promises or adhered to signed agreements.

Oh, and by the end June, sunnyboy Jared will supposedly and finally unveil his miraculous Middle East peace plan. Another so-called "plan"!

Talking of counting the chickens early! At least they got Mr. T's hair right.

But maybe somebody should have told them that it is an insult to North-Korean leaders to impede on a picture the white circle with the red star (their communist trade mark). On top, the title Supreme Leader does not exist as such. It is only used in speeches and reports. The official title starts with "Chairman of yadayada", some long nonsense.

And when did the potential meeting turn into "Peace Talks"?

Well I am sure Kim will be chuffed! The US president, who called Kim a brutal dictator among other descriptive words, is putting him on a coin just for meeting Mr. T for lunch and coffee.

I think the underlying north korea issue is not the threat they could pose to the US or to South korea but is their ongoing trade with Iran, I think the US is frightened that if NK carries on developing ballistic missiles with mini nuclear warheads, this technology could be sold to Iran in exchange for iranian oil/money.

This I think explains why Trump, as soon as he got into office, raised the issue of north korea, issuing threats of imminent military action. The obvious problem then for south korea, and probably why they initiated the talks, was in the event of a US attack on north korea, they are directly in the firing line from the North which apparently has masses of conventional artillery, positioned on high ground, trained on seoul.

So at the trump kim meeting it will be interesting to see what concessions the US is willing offer to North korea to get them to stop missile development and also whether they can actually trust the North not to secretly carry on.

North Korea Threatens Again To Call Off Trump Summit, Warns Of ‘Nuclear Showdown’

This is turning out well.

There you go.....summit, speak "coffee tête-à-tête", canceled.

Mr. T chickens out. Well, they made everything possible for it not to happen. Was hard to take it serious when even Giuliani, who is Mr. T personal lawyer, was talking about it. Last was slimy Pence saying that NK will end like Libya if they don't agree to a deal.

Well, another Mr. T show ended. He just loves the drama!

Have to ask now lockinlove --> huge progress?

Not a trump fan but he did the right thing by cancelling.

No way to go into that summit after what was said by North Korea.

Sorry but no sympathy for Mr. T. He shouldn't have agreed instantly in the first place but he was so itching to show the world the great deal maker he is. This kind of meetings need to be prepared properly, first at lower level where you establish expectations / potential areas of agreement / no-go areas etc. None of that was done.

The messages from NK only turned sour after the US-SK military exercise went into full speed. Might have been advisable to scale it down a little to show some goodwill to NK like they showed when they released the 3 US citizens. Plus, everyone from Mr. T's team, who felt he / she needs to say some stupid things did so in public, newspapers, TV, etc., including Mr. T. You want to get Kim out of his comfort zone to sit down for talks, you just don't do that.

You do not threaten repeatedly if you want to negotiate. Simple!

I think the 'deep state' who control pompeo and bolton never wanted these talks in the first place as it doesn't trust North Korea and doesn't want any concessions to be made. I think they will only settle for regime change now, either through starving the country and then mass air strikes on the NK army or through china pulling the plug on Kim.

No, I think it is rather the awakening of Mr. T that international disputes are not easy to win, just like it happened with the apparently easy wins in trade wars, to repeal the ACA, to change gun laws, to ban Muslims from entering the US, etc. etc.

Plus he sees that China won't just stay on the sidelines.

Mr. T stated once: "Previous administrations have been played like a fiddle." Well, question is who has been played now?

IMO, he just saw a good opportunity to be in the limelight (remember the chants: Nobel, Nobel, Nobel) as he is hooked on ratings and adulation. He just jumped on the opportunity without a plan just like pretty much everything else I see coming from the WH.

yes I see that Trumps ego must have got excited at the prospect of a nobel prize, but that doesn't explain why pompeo and bolton said what they did unless they were deliberately trying to torpedo the talks, especially bolton I'm not actually sure what pompeo said that was so unpalatable to the koreans.

I think the deep state are expecting and gambling that china will pull the plug on the regime before US strikes the NK army, and therefore there is no need for Trump to meet Kim and offer concessions. It is a high risk gamble, the chinese may decide to do nothing and allow the kim regime to continue but they will have to prop up NK with aid, and if the USA does attack then china will be in a very difficult position, with their pride and sense of honour at stake, to not respond will look weak.

Both, Pompeo and Bolton are pure war hawks. If it were up to them then Iran and NK would have been bombed long time ago.

But it was Bolton and Pence would referred in public the Libya model. Now that did not end well with Gaddafi, didn't it? And then Pence basically issuing a ultimatum on TV before they even sat down for a first talk.

Just ridiculous and undisciplined behavior, like they are total greenhorns in diplomacy.

It might turn out to be a positive that they canceled the meeting. The South-Koreans know now that the US cannot be relied on and they best conduct their discussion with NK on bi-lateral basis only.
